The story takes place in Japan in the early 21st century, in an alternate reality where the Tokugawa Shogunate has remained in power. In this reality, student councils are tasked with oppressing schools. Yagyuu Muneakira is a high school student who rebels against his student council with the help of girls who've had the names of famous samurai heroes passed on to them.

I really liked the art direction of this series. The plot seems a bit silly at times and some of the characters annoyed me, but the art was enough to hook me.

I was also interested into seeing the new roles of seiyuu like Kugimiya Rie and Koshimizu Ami.

On the contrary, I dropped this show after two episodes because the art annoyed me. I'm no fan of the characters either.

I dropped it after watching the pre-air version, because of the ink blot censoring. I'll probably pick it up again when there's a blu-ray batch available.

The first blu-ray comes out late november. Knowing Ryuumaru they'll probably pick them fast.

Blah... I also liked the art, but I thought this was going to be a more serious/dark anime. I don't mind the ecchi either, but I get sick a tired of it when the characters always mention/joke about it and such.

This show gives me Sekirei vibes, but unlike Sekirei I think I actually like some of these characters.

I hope we can hurry up and get a better overview of the history/backstory to this whole thing though. The first episode's exposition suggested an odd mix of old vs new technologies, as does the international phone service.

I'm still confused, but I'll let it play out. And I like the ink blots.

Yeah, I thought the same too. I was going to say something about how it's weird how Yuuki didn't get the personality change, and Muneakira didn't get chained down during the fight, but the fact was that Yuuki's got the tattoo. (it's uncertain whether the tattoo's only temporary, or if she'll retain it like Jyubei).

Just finished catching up on this after stopping at about Episode 06 due to time issues. It's pleasantly surprising given how serious stuff got by the end of it. Jyuubei's death left me rather sad given how likeable a character she was :'( , but I'll keep hoping to see her back in a sequel or something. It seems probable enough. (and for god's sake if a sequel does happen, keep the ink blots! It works near-perfectly as a stylish censor save for when characters move on screen - then the continuous ink drip looks a tad weird, but that's hardly a compromise really.)

Hanzo's got the best samurai costume. Matabe's is alright too (and I like her character better), but Hanzo's is just so.. refreshing compared to her normally dull, uptight look.

Same deal as last season I suppose. It turned out "alright" given the type of show it is. I would have liked a bit more backstory for our "vengeful spirits", unless the reason for their vengence is already well known among the Japanese populace. Maeda and Master-Samurai Hanzo are two of my favourite costumes here, along with Kojiro's.
