HANCOCK!! Seems quite powerful especially when facing an unaware opponent of her ability. Blocking a single kick leaves you stoned! The first marine she kicked out of nowhere was hilarious, every other one after that is <3.

hey man, in a world where everything is too small for you, you'd be thankful for a hat that fits, too.

That's some troublesome lady Luffy managed to charm. Of course it's the attitude of the shichibukai in general that they don't care if it's the pirates or the marines they are fighting against, but Hancock managed to make it funnier.
The pirates are definitely showing less coordination in this battle than the marines, even though there's not much to praise about the marines' tactics either. I'm a little surprised we haven't seen too much special abilities on the pirates' side. They should hurry up before they decimated.

Im surprised at how much the animation has sucked this arc.

Its not like the show needs incredible animation every single episode. Save the money for that stuff for the climatic fights. If they are just animating Marco kicking Kizaru, this level of animation is fine.

He's right though. This episode had tons of honest-to-god "camera scrolling over a still image of people fighting".

Animating people is likely the most tedious and burdensome part (=expensive) of the drawing process due to the fact the shape of a body changes a lot when moving yet it must not look (too) deformed. Moreover, the movement of the limbs and torso (sometimes also the hair) must look somewhat natural, not robotic. So, when you have a huge battle with hundreds of people running around, it doesn't surprise me if they use still shots.

This sort of quality for animation was to be expected, there's simply too much shit going on not to mention they have to save their budget for the truly epic episodes that are soon to come

Im sorry that I enjoy quality animation for important battles. Happy?

But there scenes that have happened already that did deserve the animation that we see in special Naruto and Bleach fights. Whitebeard first cracking the air, and the whole scene between Whitebeard and Aokiji. One would think they had saved up enough money in their budget from constantly feeding us still frames for the past 50 episodes to give us some good quality for all the best scenes in this war.

First of all the animation has never been quite as awful as you're making it sound, we've already had a few specially animated episodes a while back during the Kuma teleportation ep and Luffy vs Snake sisters
And that's not how it works, we don't get specially animated scenes, we get specially animated episodes. A few somewhat important scenes don't warrant that level of animation, and you know it as well as i do that there are episodes to come that warrant it a hell of a lot more than these do.

Aside from some cheesiness at whitebeard's grand entrance, I haven't really noticed anything about the animation that particularly bothered me...

No I agree there is certainly more to come, Im just saying one would think they would have saved up enough money to animate all the good scenes in this war. 80% of this entire show has always been still frames.
And that's not how it works, we don't get specially animated scenes
Actually I believe we do, when Magellan created that huge monster blob and Luffy used his Gigantic Stamp.
Aside from some cheesiness at whitebeard's grand entrance, I haven't really noticed anything about the animation that particularly bothered me...
But that scene was a brick shitter for many people when it happened in the manga, especially when he first used his Quake powers. The waves in that scene in the anime look like they were drawn by a 3 year old.
