Gotta say, it's easily the best OP movie I've ever seen. It really captured the feel of the characters, and the pacing was excellent which is how most of the other movies failed. Just about every frame was worth watching. Highly recommended.

Shiki was dumb.

He had Luffy beat when he had him suspended in water, then he had to unleash his barrage of slashes that functionally did nothing but save Luffy's life.

The guy's gotta giant steering wheel in his head and his second in command is a giant clown with farting shoes. Occasional laps in judgment make sense. Overall he was a much better villain then the usual throw-away movie filler villain and perfectly reflected oda's sensibilities of combining the badass with the ridiculous.

I was hoping for more 1v1 match ups but it was still pretty great. Very DBZesque though. After reading the ch. 0 prequel i was kinda hoping for more cameos, all in all great movie/

After watching the movie:

Am i imagining things or was there an insane amount of Luffy x Nami shipping on this movie? I'm surprised they managed to end it without him giving her his straw hat again.

Other than that the movie was amazingly well done, I thought that it was a little early for Luffy to be able to beat the man who single handedly held his own against Garp and Sengoku but there was a variety of factors involved that more or less made the result believable.

I actually feel kind of sorry they had to make this into a movie, i feel that there were some aspects that could have used a little more development so giving it its own arc would have been great.

I too noticed this. And the way Nami acted when Luffy wanted to hear the final message on the dial made me think the message was another thing for a minute.


Shiki obviously understimated Luffy, that is why he lost.
