Ryan Reynolds fits pretty nicely as a Kyle Rayner kind of Green Lantern...but he's playing Hal Jordan.
Also, it is still kind of hard to distance him from his role as Deadpool, since that role fits him so well. It could be worse, at least he's not playing two different roles (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0262635/) from the same source comic publisher.

Who made this casting decision? Not like I personally care, but I'm sure people do care immensely that an actor is playing a role as both a Marvel and DC Universe character.

He wouldn`t be the first one... i don`t think anyone particulary cared about Halle Berry doing the roles of Ororo and Selina for example.
Green lantern looks fine except for those neon lines all over his chest.

True, but no one saw Catwoman. Personally I don't think she made much of an impression in any of the X-men movies either. She was just sort of there, never really the focus of any of the three movies.
And lest we forget, Reynolds was in one of the Blade movies as well, though those aren't typically thought of as "Marvel" movies.

I just realized this but is Hal Jordan black in all of his iterations? Reason I'm asking is because in one of the iterations of NIck Fury he was black, ie making Samuel L. Jackson playing him plausible. But it would suck if Hal Jordan has been black all long wouldn't it?

Uhmmm... Hal Jordan doesn`t has a black version, maybe you`re thinking on John Stewart?

You're thinking of John Stewart. He was the black Green Lantern.
Nick Fury is only African-American in the Ultimate version of Marvel comics.
edit: UChessmaster beat me to it.

Yeah it is surprisingly top heavy, but maybe it is because he uses the ring too much and doesn't walk anymore.
I am looking forward to this film. I like Ryan Reynolds.

It looks like they went with a comedic slant on the character, which isn't a trait of any of the green lanterns I ever read. This isn't Spiderman with quippy quotes, Green Lantern was a stoic character if I remember correctly. Ryan Reynolds is typical poor hollywood casting. They might as well have put Zak Galifadunkus in it.

i dont mind so much the comedic undertones.....there is always going to be a reinvention to a certain degree when youre jumping mediums like that. What i care about is the movie being good. It seems like you're typical action movie....i wonder if it'll have something to set it apart. DC knows how to make superhero movies, so lets see.
The suit does slim him down alot....he looks like he has a really big head. i hope thats not the final version.

The beginning and middle of the trailer was amazing IMO, but the end of it makes this feel like the end will have a very cheesy fight.

That trailer certainly looks much better than the previous one. I might actually start looking forward to this one.

Im really liking how they portrayed Kilowog and Salaak. Siniestro looks so-so, but acceptable. Not a fan of what they did to Tomar-Re though.

just saw it yesterday. I think it was a decent summer flick. Certainly better then Thor. Dont expect a deep or dark story line, but the acting was good (a bit cheesy at times, but Reynolds comedic timing is impeccable) the cgi was pretty nice and overall it was a fun intro movie.
I didn't see the end credit scene though....can someone post it if yo have a link?
