No, the trailer was enjoyable, but I felt a certain "mortal-kombat-ness" was missing with just the martial arts. Raiden without lightning blasts and flying across the screen is impossible to imagine.

Regardless, the director plans to add energy attacks (in a natural, realistic way). The only reason he didn't in the trailer is because of budget. So his vision for the series is my vision.

That's what I'm saying. Without the aura of Mortal Kombat and the supernatural aspects, this is a crappy cop drama. Add Mortal Kombat elements and you have a huge fanbase to draw from.

The movie star undercover was already on the 'supernatural' Mortal Kombat. Its not new from this version.

It is relevant. It is one of two possible outcomes -> the trailer is an accurate depiction of the forthcoming series OR the trailer is not an accurate depiction of the forthcoming series. Since we've seen the trailer and we know a full series will be made, one of these outcomes will come out. So the comment is relevant.

There's a new interview with the director, Kevin Tancharoen on GamaSutra. He says the series is going to be nine episodes, running between 7 and 10 minutes each. I'm kind of disappointed that it won't be longer, but hopefully, it's good enough to lead to a film.

So far They've had sonya and jax being cops, jax punching hard, Kano getting the cybernetic implant, moviestar cage doing a split punch...so even if it's "a different take on the mythos" or whatever your justification is, Shan Tsung being anything but sortof supernatural would just be lame and out of place.

Episode 1 and 2 had 0 supernatural elements and it was still Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat is a lot of things, super powers was ONE aspect of them.

THIS super power in particular makes no sense and serves no purpose, there was NO point in him freezing time to introduce himself just for shit and giggles (not to mention such a power is overpowered in so many ways), and to make things worse, Tsung can`t even freeze time in the game either.

Technology and superpowers are 2 different things, Shang Tsung has never, ever had time freezing powers. If time freezing technology was available, you would think the special forces would use it against Kano. Well I see shang's powers as one of the liberties they have taken with the mythos, we all know that he has soul sucking/shape shifting/fireball shooting powers, but aside from those we don't know anything and he's supposed to be some badass outworld sorceror. Heck perhaps it wasn't some time altering powers, but moreso space altering powers, like some elaborate teleportation....whatever..or perhaps he appeared in his mind... I dunno..

It's going to be 10 episodes and Liu Kang is planned for season 2.
