In Tokyo in the year 2020, Minato Sahashi has failed the college entrance exam twice, is awkward around women, and unemployed. Growing up, he could never stand up to his mother or little sister, a trend that continues to this day. In reality, Minato is extremely intelligent, yet his inability to cope under pressure results in his constant failure. As a result he has been branded an idiot and loser by many. One day, Minato meets a girl named Musubi, who literally falls from the sky. Minato soon learns that she is one of 'Sekirei' and he is her 'Ashikabi', human with special genes that allows them to "wing" (ie. form a contract with) Sekirei. This binds the Sekirei to him and allows them to use their full power in the elimination battle with other Sekirei. Made up of cute girls, buxom women, and bishōnen, the Sekirei fight in a dangerous and sometimes deadly competition (also known as "The Game" or "Sekirei plan") organized by Minaka Hiroto, chairman and founder of the mysterious and powerful MBI Corporation. Minato soon learns that being the partner of a beautiful girl is not all fun and games, especially when he discovers that an Ashikabi can have more than one Sekirei partner - and that's where the real trouble starts.

Genre - Action Comedy Ecchi Harem Romance Seinen Supernatural

I'm a sucker for these kind of harem mangas so i found this quite the enjoyable read. For everyone else I'd recommend it for the variety of the harem ( cute girls, tsunderes, lolis, mature types, onee-chans, etc), the fanservice, the combat scenes and the mysterious and quite interesting plot

There's also shotas and bishounens if you're into that stuff

Wow, only 14 pages? >_>

But aren't two of those pages full of rather important information?

We already knew that Takami was Minato and Yukari's mother, but now we know who their father is.

Meh, i already suspected it

I'm more interested about what that flashback meant

I fucking loled, Minato has been useless and Yukari has been evil ever since they were kids

I'm sort of curious about what Matsu means about going outside, she IS number 02 after all so i always found it strange for her ability to be so passive

NeoCybercoin
Tue, 07-20-2010, 02:30 PM
Maybe she can hack anything with electronics without using her computer as she is doing now. But even it she does have that....it would still be a bit of a weak ability wouldn't you say? I mean compared to the others.

Archangel
Tue, 07-20-2010, 02:35 PM
I said it was passive, i didn't say it was useless

In their world technology is even more advanced than it is here, meaning they're that much dependent on it. Being the ultimate hacker in such a world probably means there's no information she can't get, and knowing is half the battle.

I think it is quite a bit more than that. Don't forget that along with Miya and Yume (Musubi's alter ego), she was once part of the original disciplinary squad. I don't remember what chapter it was in, but it was implied that Matsu brought down multiple helicopters attempting to assault the island down at once. In addition to her hacking ability, she's rather competent in other areas too. Where Miya, Yume/Musubi, and Karasuba excel at close-range combat, Musubi must be equally destructive at long-range, non-contact combat.

Of course, we also have no idea what her contract verse power is either.

Yume and Matsu were never in the same squad. Yume was in the second generation along with Karasuba. They were the only members of the disciplinary squad during that time.

Yes, Matsu (#02) was in the original disciplinary squad (first gen) along with Miya (#01), Kazehana (#03), Karasuba (#04), and Mutsu (#05). Karasuba has been a member of all three generations.

In the scene with the helicopters, she seemed to have just searched for and verified the number of enemy units. Kazehana seemed to be the one that actually destroyed them with her "Flower Whirlwind" attack.

Uzume's death was kind of underplayed wasn't it...?

Probably because, she had already been killed off in the anime. They spoiled it a month in advance.

Marik
Sat, 11-27-2010, 10:09 AM
In the anime, she was stabbed in the back with a sharp staff while saving Musubi and not Minato. It took place in a hospital parking lot and not the Izumo Inn.

It takes place in episode 10 of Pure Engagement, if you want to see it.

Are you really that surprised?

Even random sekirei we've never seen before are only "severely wounded" after getting stabbed through the chest. I knew some kind of sekirei only plot device was going to keep her alive.
