An American kid named Joey lives in an urban city & has always wanted to become a hero. Unfortunately he's just an orphan working part time to support his grandma and himself. After he watched a toy commercial on a new robot action figure, Joey believe he'll gain strength if he obtains one. The only robot toy he can get his hands on is a broken one that was abandon by a rich school bully. Feeling pity for the trashed action figure, Joey took it home to repair it. Little did he know, that once he repairs the toy, it'll make his hero dream become a reality.http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=11266

Just watched Horriblesubs's 720p version, overall quality quite good.

First episode contained little of importance, other than to show the main character having absolutely no initiative. Style so far is quite American - though to be expected to a degree.

Nice to see Stan Lee's appearance around half way in (14:40).

No clue if will keep up with this, watch another couple episodes maybe.

seemed pretty non american to me, the only real difference i noticed as probably the sheer variety of clothing rather than the run of the mill uniforms. Aside from the whole robot transformation thing making completely no sense i liked it. It seems very innocent and light hearted. Haven't been keeping up with much anime in a while but I don't think the whole boy and his robot thing has been done in awhile so it feels kind of fresh, for me at least.

I'm intrigued, because that robot-looking thing has a waist, so I have to see what's going on here.

The anime sure has some pretty nice production values.

The art reminds me of like Megaman NT Warrior or something.

Waste of resources came to mind

And the art reminds me of an American Gurren Lagann

Every time Joey says hero/heroman I shudder. Well so far it doesn't seem like anything special, only following it because it's BONES. Hopefully it'll get better from here on out.

I am. It gets better. The berserk heroman is pretty cool.
