Well clearly it's not going to take Luffy another 2 days to heal if Ace only has 19 hours left.

Also, in addition to being healed, Luffy will apparently be immune to the poison. I'd say Magellan is boned in the rematch.

How do you figure he will be immune?

Because his immune system is being currently restructured to deal with the poison.

However, I'm pretty sure it has already been shown Magellan can produce different types of poisons. Maybe this is the main type (or types) he uses and thus Luffy should be able to get a few free shots at the very least before Magellan can adjust himself to the fact.

Poison isn't the same thing as a virus. Like if you get biten by a snake, and then get the anti-venom, that doesn't make you auto-immune to future snake bites.

Depends on the poison. Although you would probably be right in this case since Magellan's poison was probably quite inorganic and its (bio)chemical functionality was most likely of quite fundamental nature (considering it was melting even rocks). So, no amount of developed immunity might help against it.

However, you only would be right because in the One Piece universe flesh is infinitely stronger than any lifeless substance, toxic materials included. If you are tough enough, eating Polonium for dinner is no problem.

How do you figure he will be immune? What Ivan said:

"I have pushed the power of Strawhat's immune system beyond the normal limit, to rebuild his body into one able to withstand the poison."

He's not just curing the poison. He's changing Luffy's body into one that will resist the poison. Assuming it stays that way, he'll be at the very least resistant to Magellan's poison next time.

Yeah, I can see the discrepancy in the interpretation. I think us manga readers generally just regarded it as "oh he's deconstructing the poisoned cells and reconstructing them with healthy cells"
