I don't know about anyone else, but I found Isuzu to be really annoying. I could barely stand her. If not for that scene in the beginning (which I am now deeply looking forward to), I would be tempted to avoid this series for her. She's completely obnoxious and really clingy.

A lot of the other classmates were too, but thankfully Kushinada put all of them in their place.

Peach Pit is another problem. They can be very hit or miss. I liked their designs for Rozen Maiden and DearS, but Zombie Loan and Shugo Chara throw me off. Here, Hiroshi's design is very ambiguous in terms of gender. While watching the OP, I was convinced he was actually a she. The uniform design only makes this problem worse. Rather than a regular shirt or something like a gakuran, his shirt looks like a sailor uniform. When you can't see the pants, he completely looks like a girl. Being voiced by a female seiyuu isn't helping his case much either.

Those two gripes aside, the series was interesting, and probably worth following, though quite frankly I hope it mostly consists of Kushinada killing over everyone that gets clingy and close to Hiroshi.

Haha. Actually so far I found Isuzu's clinginess to be more amusing than annoying. It's unusual behavior and there has to be a reason for it. Other than that I do get a feeling this is a story with insiders and outsiders, and I hope they retain enough mystery to maintain that feeling for a while. Considering Hiroshi is a perfect outsider now (though if he possesses some good qualities to make him so popular is another matter), Isuzu clinging to him is a bridge between the insiders and outsiders.

I'll keep watching for now, hoping this is more of a mystery series than an action one with Kushinada mindlessly slaughtering everyone.

I just skipped through the whole episode until the killing happened. Was bored out of my mind. I'll give it another episode I guess. This series doesn't look like it has that much going for it. Character designs are really bland, and I'm unsure if this is going to be like another 11eyes.

I think I will like this one, at least based on the first episode. It seems there is a mystery afoot and said mystery looks likely to involve some sort of violent events. I have no great love for clingy/jealous type girls but clingy girls who go yandere are another story. To echo Buff if not for the preview of where her behavior will/may lead I suspect I would find the clinger much more irritating than I do, though the mysterious girl with the death scythe would stop it from being a drop point for me.

Nekomimi seems to be in on this one too.

But that is the correct way of writing it, like Bakemonogatari instead of Bake Monogatari or Bakemono Gatari.

It is a play on the words Ookami and Kamikakushi.

I think it's pretty safe to guess at this point that the denizens of the old town are all wolves that avoided extinction by the modern times by assuming a human form. Kushinada is part of some upper echelon whose job is to make sure nobody ever finds out the truth by eliminating all individuals who can't control their bestial impulses well enough or who get too close to normal humans (there are probably lots of them in the new part of the town, moved in from elsewhere). I guess many of the students of that particular school are wolves, and they exhibit the usual pack behavior by flocking around the newcomer Hiroshi. Isuzu must be totally in heat and Hiroshi's smell is enticing her.

That's my theory anyway.

Very much yes Arkangel. It's to the point where I am expecting the next couple of episodes to play out almost exactly like the third and fourth eps of Higurashi and then loop back. I'm kind of hoping that doesn't happen but the similarities kept jumping out at me.

^wait, you didn't already know, and start watching this because it was one of his works? I thought that was the only reason anyone was talking about this O_o.

well i finally got around to watching it.

The animation is horrible. i dunno what kind of budget they had for this, but i don't think a bigger one would've helped.. this is like the only series this season (well, with the exception of chu bra i guess), where when watching an episode I wasn't like "hey, the visuals in this are pretty nice". But in stead had the opposite reaction of thinking they were ugly, and at best blandly mediocre.

However, I'm enjoying the atmosphere of the episodes, and I'm definitely interested in the story. I'm definitely planning to keep watching this. Plus the music that kicks in when the wolves come out is awesome D:

also i like the absence of fanservice (so far). what with so many other comedic fanservice-heavy shows, this one adds a nice serious tone to the watching list.

and the little sister rocks.

I have to say poor Hiro experienced a most traumatic car ride. I'm not actually sure Issei is genuinely gay, he might have as well wanted to eat Hiro literally. Who knows. Kind of interesting the fruits seem to inhibit the beastly behavior. Also interesting how the shinigami girl's dad is a doctor/researcher apparently trying to solve the town's issues more peacefully than her daughter. At least that's the impression I got.

Isuzu, however, is genuinely a tease.

And apparently his "tastyness" has to do with some physical characteristic of his, maybe the wolves are really into megane shotas

The latest hassuku to drop from the tree:

Episode 7v2 - Formula (http://a.scarywater.net/formulasub/%5BFormula%5D_Ookamikakushi_-_07v2_%5B1280x720%5D%5B36893A0A%5D.mkv.torrent)

- - - - - -

This continues pretty strongly in my opinion. Although it has clearly taken a big step away from mystery already. Things are being revealed in a pretty straight-forward fashion and we see a lot of people's doings already. Though it's not necessarily bad as such. Some thriller elements remain with that one girl getting snatched away (did she find out too much or was it just a coincidence?).

I guess Hiroshi's hesitation and confusion were quite realistic but I hope he will get a grip on himself soon. He hasn't really been much of a maincharacter so far.

Hiroshi's confusion:

Hiroshi is starting to annoy me seriously. I take it they are trying to make him a normal dude thrust into the middle of mysterious stuff he can't understand but surely he should at least possess some self-preservation instincts, suspicions, and thinking faculties other than being emo in the darkness of his room. Now he's little a dimwit just waiting to get betrayed and backstabbed by anybody willing. But maybe such a stupid personality is a part of being such an aphrodisiac for the wolf people.

Other than that, I found the handyman's plan to lock the karibito-sama and the mitsu into the same building deliciously evil. Since Kushinada's job was to hunt the fallen ones, it's indeed fittingly ironic, if exceedingly traditional, to make her one of them herself. Naturally I expect her to be able to stop herself and escape before that happens. I'm sure those ambitious council members would like her to fail, though.

Hiroshi's decision:

Episode 9 - Formula (http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=download&tid=117499)

- - - - -- - -

The dude is seriously pissing me off. Although considering how this episode chose such an uber cliched and traditional route, it doesn't really matter how indecisive, dull, and annoying he was (though he certainly excelled at those arts). His old man and sister surely were right when they said he possesses no guts and the handyman even more correct when calling him dull and too stupid to understand anything. His only good quality is emitting the pheromone and that's only because it might get him killed and thus freed from his own tedious existence.

But then again, foolishness in general seems to be running deep in this show like the Kasai fellow proved by allowing the doctor geezer to have such a final call. Too bad the handyman's wicked plan was thwarted by a mushy plot device.

Poorly veiled mysteries:

Episode 10 - Formula (http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=download&tid=118640)

- - - - - - - -

While it seems it was all out of the bottle with all the revelations of the previous episode, this episode still manages to actually have a good atmosphere by showing for the first time some of the native culture of the town and tying it together with the jouga counting song.

Nothing changes the fact the slaying that one screwball in the middle of the day, right in front of all those people was 100% unbelievable. Surely that many people, since Nemuru wasn't there alone, could have grabbed the girl and taken her behind some bushes for the bloody deed. Furthermore, as if that wasn't enough, we get the done to death scene of the bad guy spilling out all his plans to a dying person. Taking into account the ridiculousness of the said plan itself, I certainly hope it was nothing but a diversion he planned to be able to carry out his actual plan. But I fear this is actually it.

I feel like this series forgot its roots when things started to happen in this ep.

Damnation:

Episode 11 - Formula (http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=download&tid=120424)

- - - - - - -

Somehow this episode seemed to skirt some major issues and I can't help but feel the whole idea of building mysteries around the town and the wolf folks fell flat.

More concretively, the safety mechanisms of the dam were ridiculous beyond belief. Walk in through an open door and press one button to doom the city. I don't know who was the bigger criminal: The handyman or the designer of the dam. The flow of water through the dam under normal situations was also strangely low. How much electricity can they produce when only a trickle seeps through? Well, I suppose there could be another outlet nearby with another channel, where the turbines/generators are located as well.

I'm not expecting much of this series anymore with the mystery vibes all but dissipated but I'll watch the last ep nonetheless to see more of Nemuru humanization.

The Last Hassaku:

Episode 12 Final - Formula (http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=torrentinfo&tid=121328)

- - - - - - - --

A somewhat strange and detached last episode. Almost like based on some extra gag material. Still, it had some good parts like the differences between Nemuru and Mana's mental images of a castle, dogs, and servants.
