Do you guys have a psp and use any homebrews?

Personally i use:

- One Manga psp - As the name implies, it's still on the beta version and it crashes from time to time but it's great for some comfortable manga reading in your bed

- gbSP - Gameboy advance emulator

- Picodrive - Megadrive emulator

- Game Categories Mode - Just a brew for better game organization, good for OCDers like me and Xan

- CwCheat - A cheat mod for those extra hard games ( only used it for FF tactics and some fighting games for fun )

In case you didn't know (though I'm sure you already know), there's a decrypter out that lets you play 5.55 and 6.00 OFW games on 5.50 GEN-B2.

No, you don't need it. I was playing Disgaea 2 that was decrypted earlier.

I can't play the newer games which require 5.50 since I only have 5.00 m33. Any advice?

I did this just yesterday. I upgraded my 5.00 m33-6 to 5.50 GEN-B2 with this: 5.00 m33-6 to 5.50 GEN-B2 XGen Simple Installer (http://7f9295fa.linkbucks.com/)

* 5.50gen-b2 Complete Pack(Install,CXMB,POPS, ULTIMATE VSH) *
1st: Open the pack. You will see 3 folders and "5.50.pbp". (cxmb,PSP,and seplugins) Place the "5.50.pbp" in the root of your memory stick.

2nd: Open the "Game" folder and place the "Update" folder in your "Game" folder.

3rd: Open "THEME" and copy "Call of Duty W@W.ctf" to your "THEME"

***For other great themes for this firmware please visit my themes thread. Thank you!!!
http://www.pspiso.com/showthread.php?t=466930

4th: Copy the "CXMB" to the root of your memory stick.
(I have also tested this cxmb on 5.50U3R-2 and it works fine.)

5th: Open "seplugins" and copy all the files and the two folders(popsloader and recovery) to your "seplugins" folder.
If you have a pops.txt already add this line:
ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx 1
If you have a vsh.txt already add these lines:
ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx 1
ms0:/seplugins/vshmenu.prx 1

I found this on PSPISO.com and just followed the instructions.

I believe this only works on PSP 1000 and 2000s.

Then when you've updated your firmware, download UMDGEN 4.0 (http://rapidshare.com/files/286563098/UMDGen_v4.00.rar) (So you can work with the stuff inside the ISO), and the Game Decrypter (http://rapidshare.com/files/286688691/gamedecrypter-by-yoshihiro_1254262867.zip) that was just released that allows you to play these games.

The instructions to get these games to work are here:

Installation:

* Download Game Decrypter by Yoshihiro
* Connect your PSP to the computer via USB
* Take your PSP in "USB mode" with the option "USB Connection"
* Click the right mouse button on the file you downloaded
* Choose "Extract Files ..."( WinRAR is advised)
* Choose like destination the letter assigned to your PSP from your computer.
* Press OK and wait extraction files
* Quit the "USB mode" on your PSP
* Then go below to learn how to use the tool

Use:

* Download the utility UMDGen 4.00
With UMDGen *, retrieve the file EBOOT.BIN located in the folder PSP_GAME / SYSDIR your ISO.
* Place this file in the root of your Memory Stick.
* Go into the game menu on your PSP and launch GAME DECRYPT YOSHIHIRO.
* Press Press cross to patch your file (wait few seconds, then returns to XMB homebrew).
* Connect your PSP to your PC using your USB cable.
* At the root of your Memory Stick is a new folder "decryptor".
Inside the folder there is new EBOOT.BIN patched.
* With UMDGen, replace the original file EBOOT.BIN with the new one.
* Rebuild your ISO and upload it to the folder ms0: / ISO of your Memory Stick.
* Your ISO is now working on your custom firmware GEN.

Enjoy.

It just seems like a lot, but it's actually really simple.

I got my first neg rep in a long time for posting here. I still buy originals, but home brew just makes things more interesting... :)

I can't get the Capcom CPS2 emulators to work though :(

Are they betas or are you using Gen?

Also is that the only emulator/homebrew now working for you?

I also tried PS1 games, they worked, but not Resident Evil 2 and 3. They froze at the loading screen.

I got a neg rep too. I admit I'm a pirate. And so is everyone that practically watches subbed anime or downloads music on this forum.

Also to get a good idea of what PSX games don't work or do work, but might need some slight modification go here: PSX->PSP Compatability List (http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?title=PSX_on_PSP_Compatibility_List#R)

Haven't played much of it yet, but been playing Disgaea 2. Only finished the first mission after the tutorial missions.

Neg rep for piracy in an anime forum? If only hypocrisy was fatal...

Only games i've played from the psone here are FF titles

Got my hands on a handful of ps1 games and converted them to psp eboots

That combined with the new popsloader released for the Gen-D+ = fun times

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross ( still kinda buggy ), Vagrant Story, Metal Gear Solid and Xenogears are the classics i'll be enjoying

I made a perfect e-boot of Chrono Cross like a year ago, but I forgot what I did to it. But I remember making both discs into a multi-disc eboot, and extracting/setting it to a specific pops version. If I recall correctly, it'd used to crash on certain pops versions when you fight Mama Komodo.

Good thing you have Xenogears there, it's my favorite RPG.

I haven't touched my PSP for weeks, though.
