Kodansha posted the following promotional video of the Fairy Tail manga's special "Yōsei Gakuen Yankee-kun to Yankee-chan" anime DVD, which will be bundled with the manga's 27th volume on June 17. The special features the characters from Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail fantasy adventure series parodying tropes from school comedy stories such as Yankee-kun to Megane-chan.

I feel like the reveal about Edo Natsu would have been way better if it had been saved for like a dramatic moment or something.

Like introduce him as the wuss, then at an important climax, have him get in a car and been suddenly all badass.

Hmm.. it's interesting, and I can see it working out - but then you have to wonder at why he wouldn't have suggested that he use the car in the first place.

Regarding the new OVA, I've got slight reservations. I like my Erzas bossy...

That was unexpected.. and a VERY nice twist. Great episode. There are enough bad guys that need a smack in the face atm.. Gajeel is making his move and I hope Natsu will be able to use magic soon.

That wasn't obvious from the start? (the episode following Lucy releasing her Gates). I want to smack you for that one man.. >_>


Question is, does it have a limit. What is it? Is it a magic pill that gives them a large dose of mana, or is it a pill that makes them immune to the leeching effects of Edolas?

The episode was really slow for the first 3/4. It hit all the right notes at the end though, and I'm not sure if the lengthy build-up helped that or not.

Where did Gajeel get the idea that attacking a Lacrima humanises it? Did he think it was a shell or something? :S

Anyway, most of this episode was really dragging its feet. The studio must be getting anxious because the manga still isn't beyond the next arc from this (if memory serves; I don't think there were any between this and the current one, at least not any major ones).

That wasn't obvious from the start?Not entirely. That pill could have done anything man. I mean, how did she even get over here? It's not like she can fly. Again, I just thought it was cause spirits come from another dimension at first.

Now that we know that BOTH the characters that ran into Mystogan can use their magic still, it's obvious it's his pill.

1. I really hate it when a characters "unique personality quirk" takes the form of something extremely annoying. You know, like screaming KAA constantly.

2. They left Lucy her keys?! Worst jailers ever!

3. I thought the twist there was obvious soon as he said they didn't like the kingdom and then I saw the wife.

I didn't get teary-eyed at all in this ep, i did however get both teary-eyed and a giant lump in my throat from the ep where Natsu first saw edolas-Lisanna.. man that was sad :/

OVA was enjoyable, as expected. It reminded of how Mira's only 2nd/3rd in my books because of her limited screentime and personality displays. Old-hair Juva ftw! Aries is also not bad in the slightest.

As for the episode, I was expecting Happy to go SSJ any second with all that tension built up. It makes me wonder how the Exceeds rule over humans when all they seem to do is fly.

Kodansha began streaming a 95-second promotional video on Thursday for the Fairy Tail original anime DVD that it released on February 17 bundled with the 31st volume of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail manga.

The DVD — the third original anime DVD to come with special edition volumes of the manga — contains an all-new original story storyboarded by Mashima himself. The DVD's story revolves around the characters Natsu, Lucy, Happy, Gray, and Erza, who stumble upon a magic book in the Fairy Tail Guild's storehouse that allows them to travel back in time.

Shinji Ishihira directed the previous two original anime DVDs at A-1 Pictures Inc. and Satelight, just as he does for the ongoing television anime series. Similarly, the television anime's script editor Masashi Sogo and character designer Aoi Yamamoto were also involved in the first two original anime DVDs.

This was a very nice OVA. Despite the relative lack of ecchi fanservice - in fact I hardly noticed how lacking it was, with the story keeping me captivated. Story and the cute kid versions of the usual characters.

The stones may spell the collapse of the magical world, and Natsu, Lucy, and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild are caught up in the intrigue.

Hiro Mashima, the creator of the original Fairy Tail manga, is in charge of story planning and visual design for the film's all-new plot, and he is also drafting the guest character designs and image concept art.
