Definitely the worst movie I've seen since The Happening. This movie was dumb from the get-go. And I mean "dumb". Everything about this movie caters to the stupid.

Almost half the plot is communicated to the audience via poorly done fake news reports and talking heads. The first five minutes of the movie painstakingly details the movie's universe in a faux news style, which feels completely false due to the "10 YEARS AGO", and "PRESENT DAY" messages inter cut throughout and use of "spooky" background music. The last shot of the movie does the exact same thing, and repeats obvious facts to the audience just in case we didn't get the idea the first 4 times the characters exclaimed these facts.

And every character is a thin stereotype. The dialog is bland ("What is it you want??" "You...I just want you...") and expositionary. The characters eat up time in this already short movie by stating plot points just in case the average slow movie-goer is having trouble following along. The shakey-cam during the actions scenes are egregiously out of place and horrible. They make Transformers look like a static image.

The movie's universe is completely unexplored. We're given the premise of a life-changing invention and all we see is a completely mundane existence which brings up question after question.

I couldn't turn off my brain for this movie:
- Why does the military bother dressing up blank, humanoid surrogates in camouflage instead of constructing them so they'll be naturally camo'd?
- Why was there a scene dramatically revealing to us that the villain has the mega-weapon? The previous scene shows him killing the man who had it before and taking it from him.
- Why didn't people's muscles atrophy from laying around in chairs and never leaving their homes?
- Why do the Surrogates still bother to ride trains/cars/public transportation? The Surrogates themselves are a form of transportation.
- Why do the Surrogates use cell-phones?
- When Willis disconnects all the Surrogates, how is there not one casualty? What about all the planes dropping out of the sky?
- When Willis disconnects all the Surrogates, why does everyone walk out in the streets as if they know the Surrogates are gone for good? Does that happen every time someone is disconnected?
- What's stopping the Surrogate manufacturing company from making more Surrogates?

Christ, this movie was bad. It was a dumb action movie, don't bother paying to see this.

I can't possibly follow up Xan's super critical review with very much so I'll keep it brief.

I didn't over-analyze anything... but nothing was original. My sister thought it was basically the same as i-Robot with a slightly different story line. I saw that mall cop movie w\ seth rogan @ the dollar movies... so this was not the stupidest most time wasting movie I've seen in a while.

I was thinking there would be more action but there was very little., just one or two scenes.

I love the fact that Bruce Willis is getting into acting again. All his movies have been amazing and this one looks like it is too. It is going to be something amazing we havnt seen since his last movie.
