Free little game made by an ex-capcom employee who calles himself Sugeno (http://suge9.blog58.fc2.com/), Its an all girl 2D fighter, and after playing it a bit I think its pretty cool and the sprite work is great to say the least. Fast and smooth.

For gameplay I think it can be mostly compared to Marvel vs Capcom, but toned down on the frantic-ness, but can still perform some nice combos and simple special moves.

So far my favorite is Saki, love the fast swordplay, but man the coolest is definitly Luna. First time I've seen Gun-Kata done so incredibly smooth in a game.

If there are any problems in running the game follow the instructions in this link:

Just having applocale didn't cut it for me, but when I did that ^, it works flawlessly, the other method with NTLA can cause the game to run without sound.

Also when setting controls, the only important ones are ACBD,
A: weak attack
B: mid attack
C: hard attack
D: support action ( 4/2/6+D, 236+D )
Though the other buttons also function as getting a different color costume ( A is default )
=D.

Reminds me of Arcana Hearts. Hopefully the boss isn't as hard as the one in that game.

I have arcana 1 and 2, and I must say arcana is a lot more technical and slower aswell, relying a lot on frames for combo strings, kinda like hokuto no ken.
This is far faster and has simple mvc style special moves, flows great.
Also the boss is strong, but I beat her in the 2nd try of my 1st playthrough, not too much SNK syndrome.

Looks good. I wouldn't mind giving it a try, but I don't have a controller for pc.

Just use WASD and a few other keys. I played some Ninja Turtles game like that a few years back in tandem mode with my brother (same PC, used the arrows and home/end keys on the same keyboard). Those were some fun times, which was why I asked about the multiplayer.

I've read that it doesn't have online play.

What about Versus Mode on the same keyboard?

Vanguard Princess is a versus fighting game created with Enterbrain's 2D Fighter Maker engine, and a freeware download that showcases the sort of quality usually reserved for full-price commercial releases only.

There are ten playable characters to choose from, an assortment of special moves distinct to each combatant, excellent sprite work, creative costume design, and even a multiplayer mode that is unfortunately limited to just two people playing on the same computer with no online capabilities.

Nice. I might just give this a try.

I'm downloading it right now. Gun-Kata forced me to do it. Equilibrium fan, admittedly.

Yui is fucking retarded. Her skills are too powerful, even the boss in hard can't handle them. It doesn't help that they all chain together so easily.

Luna looks great, but is difficult to use, and is generally weak and special attack dependent.

Yui is good cause she is the poster girl. Easy to learn, hard hitter, powerful special attack and an invincible dragon punch (highest priority, more the Eri's).
But all that goes away against a human player, she is pretty useless against Eri, who totally destroys her (human or AI).

Luna is boss, she is special attack dependant but thats fine cause just switching between stances builds her bar like crazy, so just keep poking from a distance and lure em in for the special. Don't let someone like Eri get close though, she will destroy you.
