Well.. I don't have much to say about this arc. It just plain lasted too long and I don't care enough to write all the other things wrong with it, but at least it's finally over. Tobi and Deidara's part in the final episode was great of course.

By the way, if you like avoiding spoilers, resist the urge to watch the preview of 113 :P Next episode also appears to have above-average animation from what I can see, good start to canon.

Man, the only requirement for an ANBU must be an ability to wear a mask. Those dudes suck so bad it's not even funny. Even less funny is the fact they spent a whole bunch of episodes desperately trying to fight the three tails and then a couple of Akatsuki members beat it in a minute or two.

Fortunately the next arc looks promising, so I should just forget this piece of shit arc ever happened.

wow. i was thoroughly impressed by the wrap up of this arc. unfortunately the fact that it was extremely slow paced and spent so much time ungracefully throwing its themes down your mouth it ruined an arc that would have otherwise been decent.

its funny that the akatsuki had no trouble with the 3 tails, but then again they did'nt have to fight other ninjas while getting the job done. too bad the anbu just plane suck. shouldnt they have files on deidaras abilities? god kakashi, stop reading the porn books and fill out your reports. the other anbu seem to be pretty thorough at that... a little too much.

Tobi was the only thing that made this episode worth watching, the rest of it was just plain terrible. I'm glad to see this filler end, it went entirely too long.

I dunno, back in the chunin exam Kabuto took out a room full of anbu and then proceeded to use their dead bodies as puppets. and seeing as Kabuto is the underling of an ex-akatsuki, it should be assumed that an Akatsuki member would have no problem with simple anbu.

I've never thought of anbu as overly-strong ninja, just more like, police ninja.

and again, this is Daidara we're talking about. the dude who took out Gaara. So he should have no problems with the three tails. Plus it's like, konoha sent a handful of chunin ninja to seal it, with some jonins for protection, while having to fight off other ninja. so yeah, it's not really that improbable for the Akatsuki to clean up like that.

ohh, alright. that explains why i hadn't read this part. because i started reading the manga at the end of the hidan and kakuzu arc.

what was the deal with Daidara saying that it's weaker because it doesn't have a host? wasn't Gaara at the peak of his strength when he performed the sleep inducing jutsu, and then the beast took over? plus like, the 9-tails is plenty smart enough on it's own without Naruto, cause it's like the 9-tails ends up controlling Naruto sometimes. I think it's just this one tailed beast that was weaker because it didn't have a host

awman, i am so glad this arc is over.. it seems like it's been forever since episode 82 through 85, which were like the coolest episodes ever. while watching this arc, i had to just keep thinking about how much i liked those episodes, and tell myself that once this arc is done there's true potential for episodes like those again.

From what I understood, it wasn't actually "weaker" power-wise. However without a host it's just a brainless animal thus making it much easier to defeat. But I think I get what you mean, it does seem a little inconsistent. The Nine and One tails appear to have an actual human-level brain on their own.

That reminds me, the 2 tails also seemed seemed like a brainless beast except the host was controlling it, but we didn't see enough of it to know that for sure either. Sadly I think it's something that will never be explained in detail.

It wasn't quite as bad as what I was expecting. It felt no different from the average filler years ago. Cramming it made it all the less painless.


Now, to start some actual discussion - Tobi.

That guy is an idiot. Talkative, funny and seems to be able to take as much damage as our most hardy Naruto character to date. They sort of did it subtly, but to me it was all but announced in your face:

Tobi is strong. MUCH stronger than he cares to show.

If HorribleSub's dialogue is to be trusted, he was the one who threw the final punch. Deidera, on the other hand, comments as if to salvage whatever pride he had left in front of Tobi's boasting. Try as he might, his face shows he can't deny whatever insane power this idiot has. The fact that such a farce of an Akatsuki noob possesses strength that may well surpass his own pisses him off.

And now I'm actually anticipating what that power is. (I don't think I've seen the words "anticipate" and "Naruto" coexist in a sentence for a long, long time)

It better not disappoint.

I think Kakashi, and to a lesser extent Yamato, set an unfair standard for the ANBU. The typical ANBU is probably more like Sai in level of strength. ... Maybe even lower.

You're probably right, but let's not forget - Sai was actually a very professional ninja before he met Naruto. When Yamato sparred with him at the beginning, I'm pretty sure his skills were almost on par with his.

I find it more reasonable to blame it on inconsistency by our animators.

dude, I dropped off at 105, and caught up with 106-111, and then waited for 112. I agree that it doesn't feel any different than the older filler, and it actually isn't that bad when you watch them all together. it goes down easier in bulk i guess.
