Manga: Beelzebub

Started reading this manga the other day, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's quite funny, and other than the great comedy and the supernatural demonic powers, it kinda reminds me of History's Strongest Disciple Kinichi... I guess you can say that this manga is Aishiteruze Baby meets Kenichi in some fashion.

So I think you guys should give it a try.


The story follows the "strongest juvenile delinquent" as he watches over the devil king's son (and future devil king) with the destruction of the world hanging in the balance.

obviously she's gonna get mad at him not recognizing her, try to beat him around a bit, realize he's been taking all her hits to protect the baby, and then drop the fight, just in time to be mad at him again for confusing her with some other girl.

I just read up to the latest chapter, and I have to say I'm glad they introduced some form of romance in this manga. I've always been partial to shounen with a bit of romance, so the latest chapters are great. Having a consistently bad ass main character is a great plus as well.

I love the strange gag humor used in the manga, like the panels with the unrelated pedobear, and the (lol) text in the instruction manual for the glass cage.

The mother invitation caught me off guard as well. I hope we get to see more of her in the succeeding chapters.

It's a direct continuation from the previous chapters, in fact the first half of it is the same as chapter 15 but from a different point of view. I really liked this chapter, especially how it's setting up the next one.

I didn't see it that way. Something shocked Oga (hence why he started going through the river).... what that was, I don't know. Most probably he was in disbelief that the baby would choose someone over him, so he wasn't thinking straight.

As for underhanded methods to determine if that's the baby or not, was not out of character in my opinion. Primarily, it was his friend doing all the planning. The "You plan on fighting with a baby riding on yer back!?" bit was purely used for comedic reasons to illustrate how dumb Oga is since he does it all the time. I really doubt that his intentions had anything to do with trying to figure out if that was the baby or not. He's not that clever.

So in all, after the initial shocked reaction, all that was portrayed from Oga was true to his character.

I think you summed up my thoughts on the chapter. I think we'll go back to this dream sequence again later on when he fights Toujou once again, as means to explain whatever new power action he comes up with. But yeah, I'm glad they didn't waste much time on it.

Seeing as these dudes will fight Toujou, do you think that when Oga arrives he'll actually fight Toujou or will it be a 2 on 2 situation? I myself think that Oga will go after everyone.

Well, Toujou already seems ready to get it on with Oga. But yeah, the last 2-3 chapters were kinda boring.

Same here, though that Natsume guy that just showed up seems like he might be it. Have we seen him before? Yet, considering that the baby got attracted to Toujou in the first place should tell us something.

I wish this fight would've been without the baby. We'll see how it goes, but now that the connection is back they can't separate each other to fight.

I'm pretty sure we haven't, even the little note in the bottom seems to indicate so.

So we get 6 new bosses for Oga. Not terribly original but i'm not complaining, as long as they keep it this funny i'll read it no matter what.

I'm not sure how i feel about the possibility of Oga adapting to a particular style though, one of the best moments in this manga was when he pulled that german suplex out of his ass to win the fight against Toujou.

Nothing as neatly arranged as this, and i'm sure the author will want to keep the fights 1 on 1 and one at a time as to present the characters and their fighting styles to the audience

That rule doesn't apply anywhere. For example, I'm pretty sure that in the US High-School volleyball allows contact with the feet, as long as it's not intentional.

In other places, like the NCAA allows players to kick the ball regardless of intention if not mistaken.

Not sure if these rules are currently in place, but it's how I remember them if I recall correctly. Anyways, the point is that it isn't allowed everywhere.
