This is somewhat old news, but I don't think this was ever posted in these forums, so I thought I would spread the word for those few people that don't really browse other forums.

Basically, that last line confirms that it will air before this years movie. That means either in June or July.

I dunno where you got that from ( kanji chinese meaning?) but in japanese Gaiden means side story, or just simply a story.

He's right. The kanji for Gaiden is 外伝, not 外電. It's either an intentional pun since "den" refers to electricity, or a typo.

You guys know I'm generally not a Manga reader but I eventually caved in and read this when I got tired of hearing about "that thing between the Sasuke chase arc and the start of Shipuuden" when it was looking like they were never gonna get around to animating it.

Even though I did read it, I'm psyched to be able to see it in the anime finally.

Yeah, the movie is showing in theatres on August 1st. It's being advertised as a celebration of Naruto's 10th anniversary, and also has Kakashi as the main focus. Maybe it will be decent, but I can never get my hopes up for Naruto movies any more :(

I think the whole arc covers like 6 or 7 chapters so it should either make for a movie or a couple of OVAs

If they manage to even fuck this up it'll be impressive because Kakashi Gaiden is downright awesome

They might give it more budget since they seem to be using KG as an advertisement of the movie in a way. But that's just wishful thinking :(

Something else to note, in this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU091A953AU&fmt=18)trailer Naruto repeats Obito's exact line from http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/241/19/

He did hear it at the beginning of part 1 from Kakashi, but his wording was "that person said it". So it kind of implies that he knows about Obito somehow. Maybe Kakashi telling the story to Naruto in the anime triggers the flashback.

This is the only manga I read before the anime came out. I was also tired of hearing about Kakashi Gaiden and was really interested. Eventually I caved in and read it.

I even got a warning for a spoiler :P

Update on this, a new scan says it will be airing as a 1 hour special on 7/30 (episodes 119-120). So it looks like the entire thing will be packed into those 2 episodes.
