Just another priceless scene of Luffy showing that super badass side to him. I swear One Piece has some of the best facial expressions in terms of a piercing stare that I have ever seen. Luffy's threatening stare at the end of this episode was just awesome.

I doubt that snotty idiot of a noble had received any Nobel prizes...

But it was certainly long overdue that somebody punched some wits into one of them. And this seemed to be from the worst bunch of the lot, well deserving it. Honestly, if they had gone unharmed much longer, it would have been too tortuous! It's certainly rather interesting how things will turn out now. Will the other pirate crews be able to escape unhindered or will they all be targeted by the marines?

This could turn out grand.

The Marines might not have an admiral to spare right now if they are going to war with Whitebeard. Also, the auction house had Bellamy's symbol on it and Law has a version of it as well so maybe we'll get an early supernova fight.

i read ahead in the manga now so i cant really pretend to speculate now :D

but i will say that i think its great that the anime seems to be actually keeping pace with the manga in that i think this episode was only 1 chapter of manga, so at this rate they will probly be able to fit in some long fillers at the end of this arc.

Nice catch on bellamys crest on the auction house though it is different to laws, but almost every crest i see now in OP reminds me of bellamys since his is the only one we have seen to have kinda.... surrogate (?) pirate crews. The scene where luffy punched the noble was better done in the manga imho, but its nice for me to able to say that now (always see ppl say it now i guess i know what they mean). Still cant wait to see how the animate the next few episodes its obvious that shits gonna go down but the anime still didnt give any hints as to who it will go down with.

As a whole i dont think this scene has as much impact as its counter parts in other arcs (robins "take me to the sea" and namis plea for help way back in arlong park) but its well done nonetheless, i think it highlights luffy as opposed to highlighting the person hes supposed to be saving and it clearly sets him apart from at least trafalgar and kidd at this point in time. Kidd seemed almost gleeful as he was leaving as though his past actions seemed somwhat vindicated.

Geez, the last time i saw this much positive response from a character getting hurt/killed was when that whiny minister's son guy in GSD got killed by falling debris.

I pretty sure if we'd had this forum back then we'd have done the same thing when it happened to Bellamy. :p

Probably true, but it's not like Bellamy and this snotty noble were the same. Bellamy was a fighting man, whereas this noble has nothing but one pesky pistol and the fear somebody else (admirals) creates on his behalf.

Actually if the nobles are all this miserable, it's strange there hasn't been a military coup. The admirals themselves must be quite wicked to protect these people, so they should feel absolutely no loyalty toward them. So, why would they keep them in power? A mystery.

I don't think the nobels are in any real position of power in terms of government. I think its more like the royal family in England. They're just figureheads that hold no real governmental power but quite a bit of influence.

you will probly find the nobles have access to a legendary weapon or some such thus forcing the world government to protect them lest they reveal/use the plans.

Also im pretty sure at some point in the future there will be anoble introduced that has extraordinady powers, perhaps even sengoku himself is a noble? It goes against shonen rules to have a guy at the top of the food chain who isnt insanely strong!

Yeah I always get those the names for those two confused for some reason and I didn't look it up.

Well, information is power and the fact that these guys know all about the history of the world government should grant them quite a bit of it

Remember an whole island was destroyed so that same information wasn't leaked

How many seconds would it take for that snotty one to spill out all of his secrets if tied to the rack? I don't think too many. The dead don't tell any tales, men with false bravado too many. It's a clear security risk if people like that know much yet still wander around killing and maiming people. Though I suppose it could be that a few of the nobles, the genuinely powerful ones, know the things and keep all these pests in power as well - for whatever reasons of their own. Maybe simply because of a culture of decadence; you can't have parties unless you have enough guests.

I think it's not really up to the Admiral's. Remember that the Admiral's are all still just the military and they all take orders from the Fleet Admiral. And he takes orders from the Five Elder Stars. And they seem interested in maintaining the status-quo.

The father doesn't seem nearly as idiotic as his son, so i wouldn't be surprised that he had some kind of system that if he was to meet an unfortunate end the truth would reach the public or something like that.

Then again if you just simply look at past history you'd be surprised at the amount of time the nobility was able to maintain its power long after it had served its purpose.

World Nobles probably control the wealth/money of the World Government. Money=Power, right? I doubt the Nobles themselves are physically powerful, but they probably keep the Marines in line by controlling their wallets.

Where did all this "world nobles know the secret history" stuff come from, anyway? I doubt they have any leverage against the government except for preferential treatment as figureheads.

They're direct descendants of the ones who created it are they not?
If they don't know about it then who will?

Either way, it was just a theory as to why they hold so much power over the government

If by direct you mean by like, 500 years or so then yeah.

So? You don't think there's people who know there families history from 500 years ago?

Especially if every generation the father sits the son down and goes, "Okay, I'm about to tell you some Illuminati type shit my grandfather did and you better pay attention because the entire world is built on this stuff."

If every father is as powerful as Chalros', every son has a reason to believe him.
