And who is the military's Chief-of-Staff Ayanami exactly. Teito's future seems to have spiraled into an unexpectedly perilous path.

The first episode didn't really indicate shounen-ai, though there seemed to be strong bonds between men. However, the first episode did have a distinct lack of females, but that might have been just due to the setting, which was a military academy. That could be fixed by the next episode, because the setting changed with the main character being a fugitive.

I don't really know what to think of this series so far. It has some promise in the villain/fights department but otherwise not enough was shown yet to make or break it. I guess I'll have a look at the next episode before making final decisions.

Absolutely is. I haven't even gotten past the OP and I can tell you, with 100% certainty, that this is a shounen-ai series. Military academy setting or not, non-gay animes have this quota of at least one hot girl per show, and even if she's irrelevant to the plot, she's got to be shown in the OP/teaser art.

also, pre-watch prediction. whatever "kickass action" this show could deliver is going to eat shit and die, because shounen-ai is never about action, and if there are some fluidly animated fights, they'll be haphazardly interrupted or inconsequential because all the dudes are going to be focused on boinking each other, minimizing kills and other ruthless tactics.

finally, the main character is shown in the OP with a church steeple up his butt. And also holding his head and convulsing with "bad guy/ancient power be playin' with my brains" bishounen syndrome.

episode thoughts
totally mediocre. the two good things were the evil General and the comic relief buddy (who will, undoubtedly, be turned to fight against the main character, only to have his enslavement spell be broken by the power of man love). the action was lackluster, with physical combat not even approaching levels of decent believability. characters are dime-a-dozen cut outs.

however, i have always, always held the hope that someday, someone will produce an anime about homosexual main characters that isn't romance based and isn't a complete pile of fail. this probably isn't that production, but i'll see another episode before i decide.

finally, Desire-Himmel-Whoever's subs were completely awful. Terrible wording bordering on mistranslation, miniscule font, no OP or ED translation.
