Summary: Abandoned by his parents and given a monumentally large debt as a Christmas present, 16-year old Ayasaki Hayate is at the lowest point of his life. Desperately trying alter his hapless fate, he decides to kidnap someone to hold for a ransom.

Due to an ill choice of words, the girl he tries to kidnap misunderstands the action as a confession of love. His plan is totally crushed when he gives his real name out. Realizing his wrongdoing, Hayate proceeds to rescue the girl from the yakuza, who had instead kidnapped her. The girl, as a token of thanks, offers Hayate a job as her butler. Hayate, overwhelmed by her kindness, vows to protect her even at the cost of his life.

The main difference between the first season and this new one is that J.C.Staff will be handling the animation production instead of SynergySP.

As an OVA, it was good in quality, naturally. You also get subjected to every kind of fanservice for all of the available characters, including some new ones, and that action part where Hayate "powers-up" was pretty funny.

This was kinda misleading since its only the ova, the actual second season wont start airing till april 4th.

The first season is just... wacky comedy. It does follow some form of plot, but it's just random skits that covers each episode. You will probably enjoy it, however.

Funny first episode. I liked how they changed the art a little when they were recapping the first season instead of entirely reusing the same scenes. Still, the introduction of all the main characters was done pretty well, and much parodying, as usual.

For those who didn't know, the second episode of Hayate the Combat Butler is out. You can grab it at the first post by Marik.

I enjoyed the second episode. Klaus's hatred of Hayate still exists and now the new character has been introduced as someone else. She is quite scary for having monstrous strength. Anywho, Hayate's adventure begins next week!

Man the second episode had me laughing quite a bit. The part where the Burglar Hamster imagined Hayate getting picked up by strange women, and then Nagi hearing the Sister yelling at Hayate on the phone were especially funny.

Katsura-sensei got totally owned by Hinagiku. She went from 5 million yen to only 12,020 yen. The drunken teacher joins the party, haha. I wanted Saki to go also, but we only got her master. I look forward to seeing what happens in the dungeon.

Episode three was pretty awesome since it parodied RPG games pretty well. I quite like how Sonia was cuddling against Wataru near the end.

I liked how Maria was trying to outclass Hayate, but he ends up with a simple chocolate in the end, and Kazuki trying to woe Nagi was pretty relaxing from the usual Nagi/Hayate bit.

I think that was the assumption of the previous two posts before yours.

Hinagiku practically destroyed everyone else in the popularity contest, but the rankings are pretty much what I predicted, for the top 5 at least.

This season is proving to be much better than the first. I hope it keeps going strong. More Maria and Hinagiku are always good, especially if the episodes actually amount to something plot-wise.

Haha damn. I was laughing so hard when the gay butler showed up out of nowhere and Nagi caught him and Hayate together. Nagi thinking that's the reason Hayate wasn't turned on by seeing her naked body was great.

I enjoyed the interaction between Hinagiku and the Burglar Hamster as well. I'm looking forward to seeing how she reacts when Hinagiku finally tells her the truth.

This episode lacked continuity, the two parts were so different. I found the first half of the episode to be very funny and enjoyable, the second half, not so much. I've never really been a fan of Sakuya, to me she's one of the more forgettable characters,

I didn't think I'd like this episode after reading Nado's comment about it focusing on Tama and Shiranui, but damn, I loved it. The parts with Jenny had me cracking up so much. I especially loved her voice when she went "Oh Shit" and calling Nagi a rotten midget. I'd say this was the funniest episode of the season, in my opinion of course.

Finding out that Jenny was only 4 years old at the time, was my favorite moment of this episode. Uh Huh!

I was never really a fan of Sakuya's in the past, but she's been growing on me lately. She has my favorite part of OP2 and she looked cute talking to Hayate about her brother complex.

I was hoping for some drama between Hina-chan and the Burglar Hamster, but they smoothed things over rather easily. It's just too bad we didn't get a cat fight or two.

Next week's episode is the last of this season. I'm hoping that it goes out on a high note.

This is the version that was bundled with Vol. 31 of the manga. A standalone BD/DVD extended cut will be released on February 29th.

The official website for the Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven is a Place on Earth film announced on Wednesday that the film's extended version is slated for February 29 on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven is a Place on Earth +99 will have about eight minutes of new footage added to the original 60-minute length of the theatrical release, along with trailers, commercials, and a trailer for the live-action Taiwanese version.

The limited first edition will add a storyboard book with over 300 pages, a filmstrip bookmark, an outer case illustrated by original manga creator Kenjirou Hata, and a DVD with the original theatrical cut along with Hata's text commentary superimposed "in the style of Ni****co Douga."

Before this standalone release, the original theatrical cut of the film will be bundled on DVD with the 31st volume of the original manga on December 16.

The movie is original materials, but when it take place is roughly 10 volumes after where season 2 ended. It's really hard to say with the Hayate anime since it jumps around a lot.

Edit: It doesn't help that there's like 100 chapters of materials belonging in season 1 that haven't been adapted.

This year's 31st issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is revealing on Wednesday that the new Hayate the Combat Butler anime will begin airing this fall. The issue shows new artwork from the anime studio Manglobe.

The "99th volume" of Kenjirou Hata's Hayate the Combat Butler manga officially announced the new anime last August. The Weekly Shonen Sunday issue does not refer to the new anime as the third season as Hata once did before then, and emphasizes that it will be a "completely new Hayate the Combat Butler" based on Hata's original concepts.

According to Weekly Shonen Sunday, the new anime is "now in earnest production." More information is slated to be announced "in the near future."
