meh. I saw the early release of this back in december whenever it came out.

i didn't like it. I was expecting to pick it up, and I thought it looked good at first glance. but I just didn't like the episodes. I don't plan to continue watching.

Well, it sure is silly and pretty awfully repetitive in some of its gags, but i still somehow enjoy it. It's sure not good, not by any stretch, but I find it entertains me and that's all I'll ask from it.

I find it funny that those other two kidnappers didn't do anything when Kakeru stole that gun from him. "He's just a kid, don't help me out!" I guess they got what was coming to them.

Kakeru can actually show a compassionate side from his douchey self, although it might have been just the master/servant relationship that he's experiencing at the moment.

maybe it's just me being severely tired whenever i decide to watch this show, but i'm actually liking it. it's inane and silly, but some of the perverted comments are effectively funny, and the character interaction is enjoyable. i particularly like the side characters, (Gigolo and Crazy Dyke Witch especially).

all in all, this is a fairly entertaining show for me. but after three episodes, i'm already hoping it ends fairly quickly. this has the taste of something that could ... go flat pretty quick...

I'm surprised that the episode picked up in comedy enough to make me laugh a few times. Good episode, lets see what will happen next. And... Najimi is pure love. :D

That show isn't stellar, but mad enough to be a bit entertaining.
Somehow the plot line is so dumb it becomes interresting... I know, kinda strange isn't it?
I wonder how they'll keep us interrested though.

Regarding the way that teenager reacts, well keep in mind that teenagers are litterally overflown with sex thoughts... Of course here he tells everything, instead of keeping it in his mind, but loliperversion aside, males tend to be sex pervs in their minds... too bad for them :D

This series is giving me hope for a good drama/comedy type. Aside from that, strong dedication from Yell really gave Najimi the strength to accept her. Well, Kakeru can be helpful too, I guess.

On another note, the guy who does Hidehiko Otoya's voice is Ryōtarō Okiayu, who also does the voice of Kuchiki Byakuya. That was something I learned. :p

i can't believe how much i'm liking this show. the premise sucks, the animation is just okay, but somehow it's fun and i'm even getting drawn in to the characters.

i really liked Yell and Najimi. it's almost terribly ironic how they both are chasing after someone who doesn't return their feelings, but remain dedicated (to a fault). Grapes and her owner are a fairly good pair too. The only ones that don't match are the main character and Melon. As I said before, I also really like the minor characters. I'm hoping Gigolo gets his own can...

all of the pervertedness somehow doesn't overload, and I think I figured out why. Most romance / fan service shows work primarily on heterosexual relationships, almost always male-pleasing. but this show has lesbians, benign (or not?) friendships, straight perverts, gay perverts, and it's keeping the sexual tension and humor varied and fresh.

I loved when Najimi was 'drunk' and the main guy was all "that doesn't hurt!" and then she whacked him good.

However, I will say this, Coalguys subs really are pretty mediocre. They get the points across, but even I can catch a lot of stuff that they're simply not putting into the translations. Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers.

Surprisingly enough I'm liking this well enough. Though it really sucks to watch this with no soda readily at hand. I have nothing against perverted main characters who actually aren't afraid of being perverted. God knows there are enough series with timid main chars surrounded by chicks. In any case Lelouch's VA is doing very good work here. The type of humour suits me fine as well.

The action hasn't been anything to drink a toast to, but I surmise it's not as big a deal as I expected or they simply are gathering enough cans first and then they will all be squished in short order.

Same. The idea of the show is so unique I can't stop watching. Sodas that turn into girls and fight each other, who thought of that really? We have a gay guy, a lesbian, and a lead who is very forward with his pervertedness. The only thing that I don't like so far, is that there is only one Steel can against two Aluminum cans. Hopefully they introduce another Steel can, to even the sides a bit.

Depressing episode for Najimi. Kakeru still could have time to go with her, instead of searching for the other Akikan, but his wackiness kicks in and he just denies her like that, after she spent all the time daydreaming and coming up with a successful date plan, now torn to shreds because of his idiocies.

He may also be uninterrested by the girl date/love wise.
And it's not because he was blushing in the shower scene that he is interrested in her.
We'll see what happens next. That Yell sure is killing machine, I'm pretty sure Najimi doesn't want to kill kakeru, but she didn't even care controlling what those magical can girls were up to... so basically the killing intent was latent.

Yea, I can't expect Kakeru to show some dedication or even the slightest hint of romance towards Najimi, but I did expect him to go out with her and have a good time. I have no idea if he's even interested in her, since he's pretty perverse about all the girls that ever got close to him. But, you're right, Najimi definitely didn't want Kakeru to be killed, so we'll see what happens in the next episode.

Ugh! I really hate, Melon. I wish Yell was the star of this show instead.

I'm really starting to dislike, Najimi. The whole childhood crush thing was cute at first, but now she's turning into a jealous bitch. Kakeru, needs to loosen the reins on Melon and let her go extract revenge.

The best parts of this episode were the Kizaki moments. She was so cute when she was around the kittens. Hopefully she plays an even bigger part in the future.

Otoya is just plain creepy.

It requires an abnormal girl to have a crush on Kakeru in the first place. Based on his everyday behavior his collection is short of a few cans, you know.

Yeah, I didn't care much the battle, mainly because they used the same attacks over and over. Watching Melon, shout Melon over and over, was quite annoying.

lmao @ Gigolo's clothes, I was surprised the other characters didn't comment on them.

This episode could have used more Airin-kun (Kizaki-desu) <3.

enjoyed 5 and 6

the drama was just about right, and there was enough funny stuff to keep me laughing. Kisaki's cats, Gigolo's pajamas, Budoko, the anti-climactic hug at the baseball stadium.

of course, it doesn't seem like this show is really goig anywhere with the Akikan=Elect thing... at least yet...

i also finally figured out why i like Gigolo so much. Like Kakeru said, he really is his foil. And as entertaining as Kakeru can be, I still don't like him.

but my favorite has to be Yell. She's just so goddamned loyal and ruthless, but totally a self-esteem case, easily emotionaly wounded. when Najimi is mean to her, I just get all worked up.

so the super hot lesbo is actually a real witch. this show is so goddamn random sometimes. but i still like it. somehow all of the cast, even Najimi and Kakeru who I don't like that much, fit and are enjoyable to watch

To be honest, some animes that have bad animation can make up in terms of story/drama/comedy. This anime's no exception either, and it's quite enjoyable to see the emotional flail from left to right, and how it's resolved through conflict of the person that they have the most respect towards (in this case, the owners). However, I agree with Kakeru that fighting isn't a good way to resolve issues, and these girls didn't have a valid reason to fight each other to begin with (Aluminum versus Steel can is just stupid).

Both Melon and Yell has had their fair share of "unwanted" feelings, and they both try their best to please their owner so that they don't get thrown away. That, in itself, is deep respect and I applaud to it because the context of their behavior is a conscious one, realizing the true meaning of "being loved" after Kakeru and Najimi rushed in to stop them from fighting any further. I can't quite say that Goro and Yurika won't have a better role in the future, but hopefully that they do, because they do share a number of interesting traits about them.

What the hell! The OP is the same as the old one even though there's new music. I wasn't expecting that. I was hoping to see a glimpse of things to come.

This was a pretty crappy first episode back. Pretty much nothing happened plotwise. The whole thing was just lots and lots of fanservice. The only positive thing was that my favorite character, Airin-kun (Kizaki-desu) got a good bit of screen time.

Haha, this episode had so many sexual puns that I couldn't stop laughing at them, especially with Kizaki. Surprisingly, Yell is attractive to both sexes, and shows off a playful, yet feminine side to her. Hopefully, some newer Akikans will be introduced. Oh, and poor Goro! He never gets any good screen time, unlike Yurika.

Yukimura
Wed, 02-25-2009, 01:18 AM
The scenes with Airin were hilarious, I never would have thought Kakeru would be able to get to an older woman like that. The Kochikaze fanservice was good as well but not as mental unfortunately. Something that may well be nothing that I noticed was that the gay official's cell phone strap is a witch on a broom. After seeing that Kochikaze's claim of being a witch turned out to be true I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he is one as well. If so that could serve as plot point sometime in the future.

I loved this episode, particularly because it has Najimi x Kakeru stuffed in it. I liked how Yell doesn't want Najimi to go out with Kakeru, and I can respect that. Kakeru literally just passed out at the moment of her confession, and that was just jerky of him to do that. Perhaps somewhere in the future, she can properly say it when Kakeru is actually serious about his relationship with her.

Akikans sure do have delicate feelings that seem to be hurt when their Owners do something very stupid, but like Kakeru said, he really doesn't know what or how Melon feels without being notified of. I mean, her cellphone has all those unsent mail, and she could have talked to him anytime, but refused to do so. It was Najimi's fault for going overboard and hurting Yell's feelings when she was doing something for Najimi, but at least those two recouncil yet again. Also, Gigolo needs more confidence! He's gonna get himself misunderstood even more at this rate.

Wow... this episode was awesome. The strongest Akikan has appeared and just literally ate the three main Akikan girls up. Now, I feel sympathetic for Kakeru. He just lost someone important to him, but the battle's not over yet!

Kraco
Tue, 03-31-2009, 01:07 AM
I didn't feel particularly sympathetic seeing how the dude just sit on the ground and stared while his precious akikan was eaten, trying to do nothing to prevent it. And then he had the audacity to cry afterwards, after his inaction. Now, I'm not saying he could have done anything at all, but he surely should have tried to throw sticks and stones if nothing else was at hand. Or more likely already earlier in the battle turn the enemy back into a can...

Well, this show was never really about fighting so I guess my expectations were completely off. And Kakeru never even showed any fighting spirit. I like how perverted he is, but I don't need to sympathise with him.

Nadouku
Tue, 03-31-2009, 10:48 AM
Particularly the part where Kakeru was surprised that his own Akikan was completely obliderated is where I sympathized with him. Being a "powerless" Owner, he could do nothing but wail at the sight of his Akikan being absorbed into someone else. Yea, I agree with you that he could have done something, as effortless as it may be, as so to provide a sense of fighting spirit in Kakeru himself. I guess that expectation was too much for a mostly perverted comedy/drama show. :o

I enjoyed this episode. I had been waiting for some serious fighting between Akikans to start, so this ep had just what I was looking for. Too bad it's only some Mixed Drink chick that doesn't have an owner. I would have liked to have seen some negative interactions between the owners of rival Akikans. The three main Akikan owners, get along with each other too well for me.

The beginning of the episode made me laugh. Even in her near death state, Airin-kun (<3) managed to pull off a Kizaki-desu.

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Riku Ranjō and Hiro Suzuhira's Akikan! romantic comedy light novels has announced on Sunday that production on an Akikan! OAV project has been green-lit. More details will be announced later. The television anime ran in Japan from January 3 to March 28.

The story revolves around a typical high school boy named Kakeru Daichi and the can of melon juice soda that he bought from a vending machine. The can suddenly transforms into a beautiful but standoffish girl that Kakeru nicknames "Melon," and more "Akikan!" ("empty can" or "A-Machine") girls appear. However, Akikan! girls need to be infused with carbon dioxide from kissing to survive.
