This part of the forum consists solely of anime threads, and it's time to spice things up :D

Just post what you think are the best opening and endings of all the animes you have watched.

It doesn't have to be a personal favorite anime of yours, just one with a catchy song or great animation that you always enjoyed watching.

It's would also be nice if you could post the link for it on youtube so the rest of the forum can also enjoy them.

From the music, to the animation, to the symbolism this has to be the best opening i have ever seen. Watched it every single time i saw an episode, and that's saying something.

Ok this favoritism of mine is probably influenced by the fact that i just finished the series and am currently inloved with it. May have to update this later when i'm not influenced by the geass but it's still on my top 5 not just because of the music but also because of the great art work that comes with it.

@Munsu: The Samurai 7 opening is one of the few openings I like.

There haven't been many openings that I've liked, I'm more of an ending person. The one opening that always stuck with me though, was Naruto OP 5. I liked the song and the animation.

The Konoha team running to catch up to Sasuke, the picking up and dropping of the forehead protector, the Gai and bandaged up Lee moment, and the second version when he was fighting again. The Sand Team, Sound 5, Oro/Itachi scenes were great too.

The songs are good, but it is the animation of these two that really stand out. The scenes in the background are very good at provoking an emotional response, and amazingly, you can find many parallells in the storyline to what happens to each of the characters. I'm sure the melodies one will as well, but the memories OP changes for the final episode, not only switching back to the Japanese, but also showing a different scenes due to the events that happened over the course of the series, subtle but still obvious.

As for EDs, I'm a little more fickle depending on how my favorite series have shifted around, but I will here submit:

"Jikan yo Tomare" by AZU feat. Seamo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf2tDoc4c50) (Itazura na Kiss ED2, video starts at 3:00, can't find an undubbed version of the anime ED by itself)
AZU has a really beautiful voice, and it's a duet/love song, so it fits the theme of the series really well.

I'd put "Taishō.a" by anNina (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai ED) as the runner up though. It's even better when you know what the lyrics are.
(Can't find an undubbed version of the ED sequence again).

I second both of these. I've never seen GitS, but I'm in love with that soundtrack, and pretty much any song by Origa. Darker than Black comes in second for my favourite metal selection. It's just not heavy enough to surpass Death Note.

My other favourite OP is Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvE8XO6YH6o). This is the only OP that I watched all the way through for every episode of the show. I usually skip the OP for a show after I've seen it once, and even the ones I like I'll only watch a few times before I start skipping them. Higurashi was just strangely addicting and compelling.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Karakuri Zoushi Ayatsuri Sakon. I've made some jind of mistake...

I've extracted the second guitar part of God Knows (Haruhi Suzumiya EP12, but you all know I guess)

Then I used that as my cell phone ring.

Problem:
When someone calls, I wait the last moment before I pick the call, missing that are transfered to my voicemail :D

So I guess that part is growing on me, the song is ok, but the guitar parts are what I like most in that case.

The full version does sound a bit repetitive, losing the freshness that the OP-cut has. Let's see if 320kbps will make a difference.

Unity won me over immediately as well. It always surprises how differently the full versions can impact on you compared to the TV-size ones. In this case, I actually prefer the anime-cut of Unity as opposed to the full one. I think the TV one has better flow while the full one kinda dragged a bit.

I listenned to a few versions of Makka ni Chikai, and everything else I found inferior to the full version linked above. It's a trend I've found for pretty much all of Fukuyama's songs. His live performances have this raw, high-energy that the tamer, refined studio recordings simply don't have.

Looks like I'll be downloading that clip and extracting the audio track.

I actually liked the full version better musically. I think it did not have the abrupt transition that the anime version unfortunately has. However, the visuals of the ED are awesome, and is part of the reason the whole thing was so emotional. The desaturated images of Victorique were quite powerful.
