So, is anyone getting dressed up this coming Halloween? I know, its a bit silly, but its still pretty fun! I'm thinking of going as Tousen.

It kinda sucks. I've never done anything for Halloween. There goes my childhood :(

Since I'm on a military base, for Halloween I want to dress up as a Viet Cong with the cone hat and an AK-47, but that will probably get me shot or beat up. Some people just can't take a joke.

No, I haven't done anything for Halloween for about 8 years now.

I've spent the past week planning my Buckethead costume for this year.

I haven't found anything yet, but I know what I need.
Mask
3 or 4 KFC buckets
Cargo Pants
Black Jacket
Long, curly wig

And optionally a prop guitar. Perhaps the white Les Paul Guitar Hero controller.

If I'm successful with this, I'll post pictures and whatnot. Good luck with Tousen, rockmanj. That's pretty badass.

Yea, something tells me I should have gotten a black kimono when I was in Tokyo two weeks ago...its going to be hard to find that....and the orange thing that he wears.

I like how certain people on this forum assume everyone on here is from America, celebrates American holidays or is always up to date with American brands/stores. ;)

I'm not sure if it's the same down in Melbourne Raven, but Halloween isn't really a special day in Brisbane. All there is is probably a few themed TV shows. Namely The Simpsons and Futurama.

I know, hence the "celebrates American holidays" remark.

Nah, nobody even mentions it here. I usually remember to have a look for anyone who might be out and about, though. Never had anyone knock on my door, personally.

actually, don't most religions/nations have a 'dress-up' holyday of some sort?
I know that mexico has one, and so do we.

Crocodile Dundee Appreciation Day?

Man, I should be ashamed. I can't even remember when that guy died. But they haven't made a public holiday out of him yet.

Anything remotely dress-up would be ANZAC Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzac_day), but that hardly counts.

Do you guys do anything else besides Trick or Treat on Halloween? Like a family dinner or something? Or is it all door knocking people, threatening people to surrender their candy or you do burnouts on their lawn?

People our age (with a social life) will go to parties. It's not really a family holiday.

I like how there's always a reply like this in holiday threads. Assassin did this with the Independence Day thread. Dudes, if the thread does not apply to you, then don't post in it .

Actually, I think its fairly big here in Korea...like lots of people like to dress up...not so much the candy collection though. Honestly though, most of the dressing up occurs at parties for adults...

And I'm quite aware its an international forum.. (FYI, halloween started in Ireland or something like that).

Jeez man, how un-Australian, you'll need to give your pet koala 100 pats and drink 50 XXXXs to give yourself a sense of patriotism.

Tonight was the first time I've been treat-or-tricked. In fact, it's the first time I've even seen anybody do it in real life here in Australia. 5 kids knocked on the door, and they didn't look like they'd do much harm if I ignored their "threat". They actually looked kinda scared or were unsure of themselves. Still, we didn't stock any candy at home, so I asked them if biscuits were alright instead :o

I'll remember to stock up a packet of lollies next year.

Oh, and Happy Halloween GotWooters, if that's what you say on such an occasion! :)

No koalas hang out in my backyard, though I'll give that fat kookaburra that visits my yard one if I ever get close enough. As for the XXXXs, I have to be careful around my beers ;)

I managed to spill red pepper paste on my Tousen robe..and it didn't come out T_T...so I went as a leaf ninja! I'll post photos later.

P.S. BB, usually there isn't any real threat...someone sounds like a scrooge McDuck ;) .

I'm going to a party that's actually happening the day after halloween (tomorrow). I haven't gotten my costume yet though. I should probably head out and try to get one....so I will.

@above: Broken hip? Sounds to me like you're too old to go trick or treating...hell, to old to even drive :-P. All kidding aside though, I'm sorry to hear that. Take care of that.

LOL! Yeah it sucks. I was drunk at a party and I rode around in my sisters scooter which goes 15-20 mph, so I was driving around in the cemetary around 1:00 then all of a sudden I ran into a chain link fence, then BAM! A crack and a loud scream :(.

Oh man I had so much fun last night. Loads more people recognized who I was supposed to be than I thought. I spent most of the evening in character, so I didn't speak at all and mimed everything and generally just acted really weird. I scared the shit out of this one random girl on the street because I reached out for her as she passed by, waved slowly at everyone I saw, and had a "conversation" with some other guys about Buckethead. Really awesome.

Pictures!

My finished costume. Found a wig, but it wasn't curly:

This guy was Van Hellsing. Really impressive:

Me and Van Hellsing together:

Talking to Misa Amane:

Pacman showed up late:

The girl on the right is probably the best joker I've ever seen. She really pulled the look of amazingly:

I wish I had been able to see better through my mask. There were a lot of good costumes out last night. I'm definitely dressing up again next year.

Indeed a good Joker, Rorschach is kinda hard to pull off, and who is the guy on the left supposed to be?

-Pacman link isn't working

The Rorshach guy sewed his own mask, so I have to give him respect for that. It was pretty good.

Guy on the left said he was a character from Soul Eater (I have no clue what that is) who apparently has an obsession with symmetry or something. One side of his hair was gray.

The correct term is epic fail !

The guns fail, the suit fails and the hair fails.

The suit looked fine. And the dude has short, curly hair, so he did what he could. He straightened it and put that white stuff on the left side (like I already said). He doesn't look anything like the character, but this is a Halloween costume, not professional cosplay.

He's an underground, though pretty prolific, guitar player. One of my favorite musicians.
