I don't like the way Gonzo handled the art. It looks quite awkward, and in some places extremely low quality.
That said, lol@summoningbybreast

The first thing I noticed is the story is not following the manga. The CG fights ain't that bad though.

I really don't like the main character. Cowering weak-legs, yet shunning his friends like he doesn't need them and being an arrogant twit when he's got power really doesn't sit well with me. I'll watch one or two more eps, since the settings alright, and I'm a mecha fan in general. But otherwise...I'll save my quota for something else.
Apparently the second half doesn't follow the manga, so if that's the case, I might go check that one out instead.

Kouchi is a complete douche in the manga also, don't waste your time reading the manga if you can't stand him.

He must be the biggest idiot I've ever seen in anime. I'm not sure I can stand him much longer. I guess I'll check out the second ep still but if he doesn't reform at all, I might need to drop the series. A pity since the mechas didn't look bad.

douche aside...what was with the megapunch? It came out of nowhere.
And this was before the power-giving breast grope.
Like Kraco, I'll give this series a little more time. Last time I ran into a main character I can't stand like this was History's Strongest Disciple Keniichi. Those random whining moments killed it for me. I'm not sure if it either got less frequent as he got stronger, or simply because I got used to it, but once that was out of the way, it was a very enjoyable series. Hopefully this can do the same.
But it took ages for Keniichi to learn the Infinite Punch....

Just watched this, and I have to say, they murdered the story and made an already annoying character into a piece of crap. The manga intro was much more original, unlike this naked girl meets stupid boy cliche. While the guy in the manga was also a douche, he had reasons to be so, and slowly changed as the story went on. I'm not sure where they are heading with all these changes.

a completely stale mecha fare full of almost every overrused cliche and mecha plot point i've ever seen.
there's only one thing that'll keep me watching this, and that's to see if the main character develops. i actually really like that he's a main character i can despise. i can see why he's so wrapped up in being a hero and angsting about his friends always saving his sorry ass. but it's actually a bit of fresh air from the standard 'i'm a good hard-working normal kid who suddenly got powers'. flaws are fun. and by 'develop' i don't mean become the standard "I wanna do good, protect my friends, fight for love, have people acknowledge my worth and not get anyone killed" bore of the month. the fact that he's a total d-bag actually gives me some hope he won't fall into that category.
i might check out the manga as well... just a few chapters here and there as the show progresses. don't think this would be watchable if i got ahead of it plot-wise... although there doesn't seem to be much there either. "evil group with neon purple back lit leader and his man servant" and "secret government/tech company dealings hidden from the public".

You make good points there. A new type of a main character is certainly refreshing, and this twisted one at least ceased to be the typical coward when he gained his powers, though it's naturally impossible to say yet whether he only is brave as long as his victory seems really evident.
Still, as good as a novel type of a main character personality is, in my opinion it's no good if you want to strangle him instead of seeing how he progresses and develops... In such a case I'd take a more traditional one instead.

Sure, the intro for the manga was semi-interesting, but the rest of story was bland. As far as I'm concerned Linebarrel has nowhere to go but up.

Story aside, I'm rather impressed with the model kit:

I totally dislike this show...
not only was that episode the most confusing thing I've ever seen, but what the hell is wrong with the main character?!?
did he lost his memory too? I lol'd at the sudden falcon punch... is this show trying to be a mix of NGE and Tengen Toppa, if that's true, it fails miserably imho... I can't get into that show at least for now
I didn't even like the fight.. not only does that Mecha look extremely stupid because of unnecessary metal all over his chassis (god I hate that... where are the decent mechas like in NGE or FMP?) but I also dislike the "computer animation".. I hate it if the animation looks extremely different from the background, it's so poorly done.. If they are going to insert CG they should at least do it at a level like Macross Frontier... or even better: Karas (but I guess thats impossible for a TV show with ~24 episodes)
I'll give it another episode

That's what I thought as well, combined with the head of Guyver.
