Tonight starts a 3 night event mini-series on ABC Family called Samurai Girl, starring Jamie Chung (Real World, Dragonball) and Brendan Fehr (Roswell, CSI Miami). Considering this is an ABC Family series, this looks to be quite entertaining and good. And this being GW and all, a samurai series should be of interest to many here.

It starts airing tonight on ABC Family at 8pm, with next episodes being on Saturday and Sunday.

Nineteen-year-old girl named Heaven discovers that the well-to-do businessman who adopted her as an infant is actually the head of Yakuza, the Japanese mafia responsible for murdering her brother. Upon leaving her family Heaven decides to become a samurai with the help of her new American friends, and grows determined to take down her father's empire. This series is based on the popular novels for young people.

The show is created by Luke McMullen from ABC Studios in association with Alloy Entertainment, and executive produce by Gossip Girl's Bob Levy, Leslie Morgenstein and Night Stalker's Frank Spotnitz. The show has received a 6-episode contract.

Honestly, this looks like complete trash from the trailer.

Bad guys kill the family --> girl goes out for revenge --> meets white kendo master --> kills the bad guys --> white guy gets asian girl

Ok, it's shit unless it proves itself to be good. Guantanamo Approach to this series.

i've never been a fan of any 'oriental turned western' shows....the main character becomes a samurai with the help of some american douche? no thanks.

It sucks beyond human comprehension.

Looks too wire-fuiy.

Anyone else think this looks like a combination of at least eight other action movies?

The girl looks like Lucy Liu from Kill Bill playing Uma's part, and the dude looks like he is from some Keanu Reeves movie. The acting looks like standard made for TV movie fare, though I did like the "I thought you were the chick from the grudge" line.

Oh and all of the "punch lines" from the trailer are terrible. "If I say jump, you just jump!" Reminds me of the Twilight trailer, sadly.

Browsed a bit of the first episode, and didn't seem like much... won't watch unless someone convinces me of it. Doesn't look good at the moment.

It's not any good. Honestly, the moment an asian girl learns to be a Samurai from a white guy... the show is pretty much dead from that point onwards. :/
