So a friend of mine asked m if i wanted to buy this laptop....i looked at some reviews online and it doesn't seem that impressive. However, he can get it for $650 CAD.

So basically, is it worth getting for that price? I know its not the greatest processor, but im also saving like 300 dollars. Whats the expert opinion?

Also, i dunno about the normal specs (they seem to be different then what he has), but this one that im using rite now has 3 gigs of ram, and 1.5gb video......dont ask me how. thats what dxdiag is showing. I guess its using the computer memory or something.

A buddy of mine bought one of these off eBay on my recommendation. It's a decent notebook for the price. Is it new or used? What's 650 CAD in real money anyway?

I was thinking cad is around 75/80% of a usd, if so $500 doesn't sound bad for a system like that. The processor is mid-range now w\ the core2's but still would be pretty good matched w\ the 3gb ram and the 8400gs.

I'm weary of laptops though, especially w\ only 1 year warranty because I've seen several of them go out.

my wifes $1300 HP went out twice and then they were ''repairing'' it for almost a month when they called and said she could get an exchange so i don't know if it was shot or if they broke it during repairs...

Oh I remember my buddy had a problem with the built-in webcam on his dv9000. It wouldn't recognize correctly in Vista and stopped being detected at all. Since Vista treats cameras differently than XP, we couldn't get it to work, though I think it was a hardware failure. But that could happen on any system.

lol dudes, thats pretty ignorant, CAD and USD have been on and off on which one is worth more for months, right now 1 CAD is worth 99.78 USD cents.

Anyway i already told assassin my thoughts on IRC.

Yeah I know, I just couldn't pass up the chance to refer to CAD as not being real money compared to the USD. It's the same as when I get a chance to refer to Canada as the 51st state.

So what did you tell Assassin on IRC? Buy or not?

he told me what he was going to use it for, so i told him it wouldn't satisfy him in the long run, and should just spend a grand to get a better one.

IMHO that things way past old now. I second spending a grand on a better one.

I had to work my ass off to sell my old one.
