Well i need to get Amane and Atsuro's routes to finish the game.
Haru's/Gin's route was the hardest one(it was the first one i played) - Yuzu is the easiest but ending is.. well - just play it. Let me warn you - its not anything you will except. And the reason i played Haru's route was to get her as teammate.. still pissed too..
Damn i love OST from this game(especially Demon of Darkness and Garuda). It was hard to find but worth it.

Gin and Haru's route is very easy compared to Amane's route. Its not one I would recommed to go first.

I already know about Yuzu's... 'ending', but I still want to play through it myself. Specially to unlock her model on the intro screen.

Well, i have my demons at levels 80+ so playing through any route now would not be a problem. I just need to unlock Metatron and i can finally kill Lucifer. My character is magic nuke - i can wipe out most demon parties using only my main, but my demons(Bishamon and Astaroth, i've put Loki into Yuzu's team) can wipe out them too. Now i can kill most bosses in one attack command(that is if i get extra turn with each demon), if not - i have another attack thanks to Bishamon. And i miss one skill from Auto Skills(full force).
Amane and Haru's routes are considered as the hardest routes.

Those that have their birthday in months that aren't included can have an event after the main story after all P4 skips how much straight to Christmas and new year and then to April. The event days can work without a problem. If it's like P3 that most of the serious stuff happen at night they can just add some sort of celebration during the day and if it's during the day like P4 they can have it at night. It's not that important but I think it'd be a fun detail to add to the game, more so since the MC is suppose to be "you". Though even if they don't do any of that stuff I hope they at least add a birthday for the MC that they celebrate for example with a gf kinda like the Christmas event.

Somehow not that excited for the game at least not at the moment. Will probably get more psyched up for it when it's closer to being completed. Also probably going to try avoiding as much news about P5 as possible other than trailers too keep spoilers/expectations on a minimum. Find it more fun when I know less about the game.

Finally finished playing through Devil Survivor on DS, didn't expect that many bosses on the last day not to mention all the retries. Went with GIn and Haru's path the first time around. Expected more from the ending or rather something more with Gin/Haru and the protagonist. Currently quite curios as to how the game will end if Haru dies since she played a big role in that ending at least.

And Strange Journey has arrived though haven't played it yet.

Well got a bit curious about Yuzus path so decided to play through it and yeah wasn't quite what I expected, though I let a lot of characters die as well during that playthrough to see how things would end up so wondered if it had any effect. Was kinda disappointed that I couldn't refuse giving Midori a comp and that I couldn't let her leave her to die or refuse her joining the team.

Well the biggest reason it annoyed me is that they give you the choice asking you what you want to do and then no matter which you pick it still end up the same. Kinda takes away some of the freedom or how included I felt when I first played it. Though she does annoy me.

I don't really know about older Megaten titles... but Nocturne, while not completely free, did allow you to take different paths based on your actions and decisions.


Think about it, really. You had three "reason" endings (musubi, shijima, yosuga), the "neutral" ending, demon and true demon.

I would argue that the reason endings are ultimately equivalent, in terms of loss of freedom. Musubi, you're "free" but you live the future of your existence in solitary confinement, free to move around your bubble but incapable of reaching into others. In Shijima, you're not even free to move about the place, you and all other living things are silent cogs in a celestial machine. In yosuga, you're essentially agreeing on Highlander rules ("there can be only one"), because the strong destroy the weak.

Neutral is an abdication of the freedom to create, instead opting for a return to the previous world. Demon is an abdication of will, as a whole - you approach kagutsuchi with no vision, and the world flickers out.

Only true demon is a truly free option, and to get there you are challenging the creator over the order of the universe and the very fabric of creation.

Freedom is the ability to topple the order of the universe and the very nature of creation, to challenge the worst demons and the highest angels, to assault the throne of creation itself. All other freedom is illusory. That's all I'm sayin'...

Ah... I thought you meant gameplay. But we are actually talking about story wise. I do agree in everything you mention regarding plot wise. Freedom is definitely very small in the worlds were the Megaten tiles are present.

There are always gods or demons playing with you. Whether its Loki in Devil Survivor, Nyx in Persona 3, Nyartholep in Persona, Lucifer in Raidou Kuzunoha or Musubi, Shijima and Yosuga in Nocturne... heck even the 'Creator' in most of the titles.

Heck, even Philemon and Igor who 'aid' you... are in a way manipulating your destiny.

I guess its one of the reasons I love the Megaten titles even since I started with P3 (and jumped into older titles... though I still need to play Digital Devil Saga fully)...

Im still waiting to get my disc. Rio Bravo overflowed so the international bridges got closed last week, so the guy that gets me the games couldn't go pick up my P3P. He will be returning until tomorrow, so I'll get the game until Saturday.

Im hoping Devil Survivor 3DS is a sequel rather than a remake. I also hope SMT 3DS is a total remake of the original SMT... heck... I want SMT Soul Hackers and SMT if as well...

Persona 3DS... I have my fingers crossed so it ends up being Persona 2... though I would prefer it on the PSP.

I finally got my Persona 3 Portable today. Obviously Im playing as Minako this time around and Im loving the additions to the game. Surprisingly, the new 'novel style' fits the portable very well.

Im also still going through Strange Journey. I just entered the 3rd sector recently. God... its hard.

And on the last SMT news... I got my hands on the Persona Music Live Velvet Room Wel City Concert. The Limited Edition I imported came with 2 CD's with 6 tracks, though I already had them on MP3. I love they had songs from Persona PSP and Persona 3 Portable this time around. I certainly love Dream of Butterfly, Way of Life, Soul Phrase, Heartbeat Heartbreak, Reach out to the Truth, Mass Destruction, Burn my Dread Last Battle, Wiping All Out, Voice, Heaven, Never More and Kimi ni Kioku.

I've only seen Haru/Gin and Amane's ending on Devil Survivor. I'll probably return there after finishing Strange Journey. Dunno if SJ has multiple endings as well, but so far I like the characters of Devil Survivor more.

Hmm, Gin/Haru's one was probably the best one - Yuzu's was interesting one, but Naoya's one was the least interesting for me.
Oh and do finish all routes - it is worth it.
Strange Journey is Etrian Oddysey in SMT world - but its still interesting..but being unable to identify demons before you beat them is annoying as hell. I'm in second world but i'll put this game on hold for now.

Go with Persona 3. Persona 4 is also awesome. If you have DS, Devil Survivor is a game that you have to finish no matter what.

I'm currently at the 5th world. Don't know how long this game is though. I think I'm at the 35 hours mark. Not knowing what you are fighting is indeed annoying, but what annoys me the most is Demon Fusion. Unlike Persona, where inherited skills are random, or Devil Survivor, where you select what to inherit, the skills inherited are fixed, so you'll end up losing awesome skills for crappy ones because the fusion doesn't take them.

I began the series with Persona 3. Its one of the most addictive of the SMT series. I wouldn't recommed begining with, lets say, Nocturne, because its too hard and sometimes plot takes ages to develop. If you find you like Persona you may try to play others in the series. I know I really like the rest of the series, but I also know I wouldn't have played them without Persona.

Start with P3, preferably the PS2 version P3 FES. It has all the good things from P3 plus expanded plot, missions and an extra 30 hour grinding session. If you like it then get P4. P3P is yet another version of P3, with a new female main character, but the 3D scenes are switched to a visual novel style. Persona PSP is old style first person dungeon crawler game that not many like.

The rest of the series (available in english...)

Nocturne - A damn hard apocaliptic game in 3rd person. Demon recruiting and a very dark plot with multiple endings.

Devil Summoner (1 and 2) - Old style Japan, a Detective who can summon demons and dark twists with Demonic problems.

Digital Devil Saga (1 and 2) - Alternate world in war gets cursed, granting all inhabitants the ability to turn into demons. But this power curses them with hunger... a hunger only stopped by canibalism. They fight to archie Nirvana.

Devil Survivor - Tokyo gets infested by Demons, so the goverment locks it down, leaving hundreds of civilians inside. You acquire the power of demons through a summoning program in your COMP (a DS). A great war of demons, angel intervention and the danger of a nuke.

Strange Journey - A phenomenon at one of the poles is investigated, and those onboard get trapped within a demonic area, where demons plan to invade earth


I guess its a bit 'too' simplified... but meh.


Beware, though. This series has LOTS of demonic references, not to mention catholic figures, buddhist figures... and lots of others. Some of the games even feature the Chupacabras.

I finally achieved all endings in Devil survivor - only thing left is to beat the crap out of the Lucifer.. too bad that my lv 99(max) demon using deathbound with maxed out str(highest damaging skill that he can use) hits for like 300 instead of 1000+, my magic-nuke main character hits for 250 with holy dance(best skill to attack Lucifer - he has damned resistance to everything) and Metatron, strongest magic demon i have hits for approx the same as main character... This big bad evil demon has like 10k hp, and i have to kill him 3 times because he will fully heal twice when he is near death..
Not to mention that it takes 2 hits to kill my whole team..

At the beginning of the video and during the middle there are scenes of Vincent platforming his way away from Monsters... there's also scenes of him using his cellphone where he must input emails to advance the plot... and towards the end in the bathroom you can see the 'beer icon' that shows how drunk he is and how hardcore his dream will be.

Of course, I can understand you missed this if you only see the trailers and haven't been following the news regarding Catherine.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclock announced for 3DS



Atlus’ first Nintendo 3DS project is about to be revealed and it’s part of their Devil Survivor strategy series. Famitsu has the scoop on Devil Survivor Overclock this week, but scans have not surfaced yet.



We’re searching for them and will update this post with information as soon as we have more details.



Update: Details from message boards explain Devil Survivor Overclock is Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor with extra content. The Nintendo DS game gets full voice acting and more detailed graphics on Nintendo 3DS. Atlus added a new episode called the 8th day (no spoilers, please!) and more demons. Devil Survivor Overclock has over 150 demons for players to find.

The Catherine trailer looks fantastic. The gameplay seems interesting and different for a change.

Considering I'll probably have a 3DS by the time this game gets localized, I don't know if having Devil Survivor 2 on DS will be good since it will mean lower resolution and no voices. Still, I plan to get this game on day 1. I certainly loved the 1st Devil Survivor, whereas Strange Journey has been a pain for me (I've been in front of the last boss for the last 3 months, grinding since I can't beat it)

During the final minute of Monday, April 11, the Japanese production company Aniplex confirmed that a television anime adaptation of the Persona 4 role-playing game from Atlus is in the works.

Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid) is directing the project at AIC ASTA. Game franchise designers Kazuma Kaneko and Shigenori Soejima are credited with the Persona concept designs and original character designs, respectively. Similarly, the game's Shoji Meguro is composing the music. The cast, also retained from the original game, includes Daisuke Namikawa (Yu Narukami), Showtaro Morikubo (Yōsuke Hanamura), Yui Horie (Chie Satonaka), and Ami Koshimizu (Yukiko Amagi).

The Persona 4 game shipped for the Sony PlayStation 2 console in 2008. Its predecessor, Persona 3, shipped for the same system in 2006 and inspired the Persona -trinity soul- television anime series in 2008.

A late-night television commercial ran in Japan early Sunday morning and revealed that the www.mayonaka-tv.jp (http://www.mayonaka-tv.jp) website that would carry the announcement. The personal computer version of the site already indicated that Aniplex, Index Corporation, and the "P4A Committee" were involved, while the Japanese mobile phone version of the site briefly listed "Persona 4 Animation" Sunday morning.

Persona 4: The Golden announced for PS Vita



Atlus’ teaser website was what most of our readers suspected — a port of Persona 4 for the PlayStation Vita, titled Persona 4: The Golden. The Vita version adds new features reported by this week’s Famitsu magazine.

Amongst new additions to the game are new characters. One of these is Marie.

Another is the addition of more voiceover work for the Vita version; Persona 4 Golden will contain 1.5 times the voicework of Persona 4, as well as new songs. Also being added is a new opening movie, and new event and anime movies during the course of the game.

Persona 4: The Golden will also utilize the Vita’s online capabilities. You’ll be able to call for help if you’re having a hard time in the game’s dungeons. Finally, Famitsu mention a mysterious highly-requested feature that has also been added to the game but will be announced at a later date.

Persona 4: The Golden is slated for a spring 2012 release in Japan.

Persona 4: Ultimate Mayonaka Arena announced for Arcade, PS3 and 360.

This is a FIGHTING GAME developed by the same team behind BLAZBLUE!



The Persona 4 revival won’t stop with the anime and Persona 4: The Golden. Arc System Works are working on a Persona 4 fighting game, development of which is being handled by the BlazBlue team.

The game is titled Persona 4: Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena, as reported by Sinobi.

Interestingly, it takes place two months after Persona 4 and continues that game’s story. The fighting tournament is apparently being hosted by none other than Teddie.

Characters that are confirmed to be playable are Yosuke, Chie, Yu (the main character) and…Aigis?! Yes, the game will include characters from Persona 3 as well. Shoji Meguro will be composing music for the game and Katsura Hashino will be directing.

Persona 4 G: Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena will be released in Japanese arcades in spring 2012 and will follow on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in summer 2012 in Japan.

Arcade Mode: Face off against CPU opponents while following the story

Story Mode: Delve deeper into the arcade mode's story. This will be exclusive to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Score Attack Mode: Face off against CPU opponents to get the high score

VS Mode: Face off against a CPU or human opponent

Online Battle: Face off against players throughout the world in online combat (I imagine that can be taken as confirmation of an international release...)

The game will include original stories for all its included characters, which come from both Persona 4 and Persona 3. The overarching story is set two months after the events of Persona 4. The characters appear on a fighting program called "P-1 Grand Prix."
