Manga: Deadman Wonderland

This is a manga by the author (Kataoka Jinsei) and artist (Kondou Kazuma) from Eureka seveN, so right off the bat this looked promising. Read the first chapter, and this has been really good so far. I'm quite sure many of you will enjoy it. Will start reading the rest of what's out now.

Ganta Igarashi has been convicted of a crime that he hasn't committed, and sent to a new, privately owned and operated prison, where the inmates are the main attraction in a modern day twist to the gladiatorial coliseums of ancient times. Throw in a healthy dose of weird little girl, some new-found super powers, and a little conspiracy theory, and you have Deadman Wonderland.

That's pretty much always the case when the artist of various mangas are the same.

Just saying it's very common for artists to use the same type of designs in various mangas... in fact, it would say it's very rare for artists to change designs from manga to manga. It's their drawing style, and even if the characters look different, the basis of them are the same, so they end up looking very very similar... which explains why the main character would look the same, when they really aren't.

Renton has longer hair, light-brown hair, blue eyes, and looks older. Ganta has short hair, black, eyebrows bushier and shorter, etc.

Anyways, just finished chapter 10... let me know when you're done and I'll comment then so that I don't spoil.

I read all 10, it was pretty good. The blood powers seem kinda lame so far. The psycho little sis didn't have me tricked for a second. I knew she was planning something since she's part of that group.

The warden is hawt. That is all.

I like the art style of Eureka7, I dont think it will be really hard for me to get into this series.

it's a decently entertaining read so far that suffers from the normal shounen pitfalls. it'll be interesting to see if they go for the zany or dark side when this gets made into an anime.

i'm most intrigued with You. I love me the secretly manipulative types. I could care less about Branches of Sin or getting revenge against the Red Man (sounds like some bad anti-Native American propoganda).

Yeah, I like the character too... but I don't think that'll play for much longer now that his secret is out. At least I don't think he'll be manipulating Ganta much any longer. Well, I myself am interested in the Red Man because he surely is related to Ganta somehow... I think his mother will play a big role in the future and surely the Red Man probably had something to do with the Earthquake in his past.

But, I like the series because it has quite a few things going on... it has the drama of the normal prison, it has the drama of the Deadman fights, it has the drama between administrators, it'll probably have some political drama, it has the inmates drama... and I don't think this series will have the prison as a setting for the whole duration; so if it isn't... I wonder how things will play out.

Anyways, I think the art is good, the action is good and frequent, the plot is decent and should get better, and most importantly... the violence is great.
