I suppose I should briefly introduce myself, although I expect most people here already know me quite well. I'm KitKat, resident Engineer/Physicist/Linguist. I'm in my final year of university, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I've only been on the anime scene for about a year and a half, but I'm making up for lost time by watching quite a bit. When not watching anime, playing video games or dying of homework, I can usually be found in my kitchen (one of the three kitchens in my house, w00t!) baking things like cookies and pie.

I am 17, but have the attention span of a 12 year old with ADHD. I am Canadian, w00t (and also half-french --> not Quebec, REAL France)! I am currently a 1st year at the university of Calgary, and I'm majoring in computer science (for the moment neways...). I like gnomes, donuts, kittens, dragons, roflcopters, ninjas, and of course anime. Being in comsci I get to laugh at all my other friends who went in engineering cuz they have to work 2x as much as me =). I am your classic short, eccentric read-head. I like to draw and I'd like to think that I'm pretty good @ it... but I need more practise.

I am very fluent in french, english, and spanish(but my spanish is learnt from a classroom so I might not know all the slang). And yes, friends with ADD are the best, especially to have in long, boring classes, like physics or math: you can have "doodle wars" (draw some guy, pass to the other, he draws something owning the guy, passes back, i draw something destroying what owned my guy, etc etc) with them. Then, when your just chillin' with them you make tons of allusions to some of the recurring characters and things you drew, and everyone else is like "wtf u talkin about??? who is the shaded ninja? and what's a random time vortex?".

Also, I forgot to add that I AM LEFT-HANDED! all the cool ppl are left-handed, and it is also scientifically proven that to be considered crazy, and an evil geniuses, you must be a lefty. Else youre just a poser.

Well, try speaking in Icelandic and you'll probably be pretty close. Icelandic is descended from Old Norse and is one of the languages that has changed the least in the past few hundred years. This is likely due to the fact that they didn't have a lot of contact with other languages which is one of the main triggers of language change.

oh yeah, anime preferences. Im a big fan of mecha, but not so much of gundam SEED unfortunately. even though wing gundam was my introduction into the gundam series, it was good for the place i was at at the time, meaning an immature kid being introduced to japanese mecha shows pretty much for the first time, since then ive gotten into the "roots" of the genre by watching super robot shows like Getter Robo and Mazinger, and pretty much moving along chronologically backwards, im into Gigantor (a.k.a. Tetsujin 28) right now, and you might ask why id be able to watch such a poorly animated show, i find it charming and interesting to see the beginning of the implementation of animation techniques currently used today, albeit tweaked a tad. but yeah, back on track, i really like to watch the "greats" of the 70s and 80s where i think anime truly hit its stride with great storytelling and intuitive mechanical design, some examples: MSG, Ideon, L-Gaim, uh, cant think right now

but yeah, im not against modern anime and im not an "elitist" by any means, i just find it interesting to look back and see where it all started and be able to look ahead and await what great things that are and will be done with anime *cough* Eureka seveN *cough*

oh yeah, im not an exclusively mecha anime fan, i like all types, but i find mecha anime to be most closely related to the hopes and aspirations of modern society throughout the years, on a purely cultural level

Fried Icecream is actually a mexican dish that features a ball of vanilla (or Vanilla cinnamon) icecream coated in cornflake,oat crust, coated in cinnamon sugar and then drizzled with honey. Its then placed on a deepfried flour tortilla coated in cinnamon sugar and then has a little whipped cream on top. Its really yummy. You should try it at your local mexican restaurant. Altho its hit or miss, some places have it just right to my taste and others use weird things like Neopolitan icecream in it.

I do like other animes as well, followed these series until the end.. Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gunslinger Girl, Great Teacher Onizuka, Tenjou Tenge, Tokyo Underground, Tsubasa Chronicles Season1.. Also watch Bleach. anyway, on topic: gr3atfull, do yourself a favor and download FMA instead of watching the dub on YTV. From what i've seen in the first ep, it doesn't seem too bad, but its highly unlikely they'll manage to do as good a job as the original japanese VA's. And FMA is a series you really should watch properly.

anyway, on topic: gr3atfull, do yourself a favor and download FMA instead of watching the dub on YTV. From what i've seen in the first ep, it doesn't seem too bad, but its highly unlikely they'll manage to do as good a job as the original japanese VA's. And FMA is a series you really should watch properly.

Sure, I’ll watch it as soon as I catch up to Naruto (I am at the episode 67 (when Sasuke VS Gaara and the plan starts)). I’ll finish it soon since I watched 3 episodes per day. But why do you say the subbed is better than the English version?

First, when you get to the fillers in Naruto (about ep 100 i believe...its the tea country arc) STOP. Either completely stop watching and wait about a month for the series to get back on track or go read the manga. If you've just gottne into anime, i'd suggest waiting and watching the series instead of reading the manga. If you watch the god awful fillers, you will undoubtedly hate naruto and it will ruin what should be an awesome upcomming arc.

As for subbed being better then the english version, its mainly cuz dubbed versions are almost always bad. No matter how hard they try, the english VA's (voice actors) can't really portray the character as well as the original japanese VA's. Not that it isn't possible, but there seems to be some unwritten rule that says all english VA's must ruin a series as much as possible.

Also, due to cultural differences, sometimes the companies (like funimation...the evil, evil funimation) will edit out the violence/nudity/other "inappropiate" material which makes the series what it is. They try to cater to a younger crown, even if the series is meant for an older audiance. So by watching the dub, you're not really getting the full experience. Its like choosing to watch a Cam rip of LOTR instead of going to the theaters and getting the full experience.

Well, hopefully he can make a post with more than two words. I don't know about Masa, but I was making a joke and at the same time trying to point out that low content posts are against the rules. You know, point out a violation in the nicest way I could think of before a mod hits him. And being a newbie doesn't mean you're exempt from the rules, or reading them.

I love eating any food as long as it does not kill me. My favorite food is rotten fish dipped in vinegar with lots of chili and refrigerated since it's good to eat when it's cold (I dunno how it's called in other countries though). I like metal music \m/ and play computer games but now I can't due to my pc which is 6 yrs. old.. don't have enough money to buy a good one. hahahaha it's actually called "kinilaw" here in my country. It's really good to eat it though you musn't keep on eating it regularly during meals because the fish isn't cooked and live worms will start to grow? I dunno what it's called but it's the same as the pork tape worm although it isn't that big but it can hurt your stomach badly, well we drink beverages as a match when we eat it to allow the body to digest it well. *cheers*:D

The only difference is the fish, I only know that japanese use tuna, here in our country is something different.
