q: what is your favourite movie, and why?

A: I rewatched Independence Day and it was great, lots of sci-fi and action going on, with a little bit of comedy and drama. The sound effects were awesome and the story was decent, although they could have came up with a better plot, but it was satisfying.

Q: Do you use an old ball mouse, the usb laser mouse, or the wireless laser mouse? Which one do you think is better and why?

Xelbair
Thu, 01-08-2009, 02:20 PM
A: Corded G5 laser mouse. i don't like wireless ones because i have sometimes trouble with PC wireless stuff, pad was working weirdly - like, 1 sec break in connection for every 2 seconds of connection, my friends keyboard was not working, lucky that all ps3 stuff works well. And laser mouse - i hate to clean ball-mouses and its damn annoying in rts when one of axis suddenly stops working. optical mouses have problems with colored mousepads(older mouses), and laser ones are more precise. Downside is price. Plus G5 ideally fits into my hand, while G9 sucks hard, and same goes to the razor.

Q:Have you ever have been holding drumsticks in you hands?

Psyke
Thu, 01-08-2009, 10:48 PM
A: The only kind of drum sticks I hold usually end up in my stomach. Seriously, I would love to learn.

Q: Which upcoming movie are you looking foward to in 2009?

Munsu
Thu, 01-08-2009, 10:53 PM
A: No doubt Terminator: Salvation at this point. Hopefully Christian Bale takes the franchise to another level.

Q: Do you fart in the classroom/office or do you excuse yourself out of the room to handle your business?

Animeniax
Thu, 01-08-2009, 11:18 PM
A: I hold it in, then discretely discharge it when I'm in the open. You can't always excuse yourself from where you're at, like on airplanes or in meetings.

Q: Do you mind reading books in electronic format, or does it have to be printed on paper?

Buffalobiian
Fri, 01-09-2009, 12:48 AM
A) I prefer it printed. Books just don't seem like books. Holding a book in printed format just seems get me into "that mode". It's possibly the posture, or the strain on the eye, brightness of the monitor etc that makes book-reading distinctly different. And I like that.

Q) When did you first learn how to swim, if you can swim. What was your experience like, scary, fun? Ever nearly drowned?

If you don't know how to swim, would you find an opportunity to learn?

Xelbair
Fri, 01-09-2009, 07:24 AM
A: My father thrown me into the deep 3.5m pool in Tunisia, then i after diving to the bottom and going to the surface i started to swim instinctively. I didn't mind being thrown at the pool - i loved and still love water and lakes. It was fun!

Q: What sport are you best at?

Nadouku
Fri, 01-09-2009, 11:17 AM
Q: What sport are you best at?

A: Tennis. I've participated in a lot of tournaments, singles and doubles. I managed to win the 1st Division Battle, but lost with my partner in the Doubles Relay. Regardless, it was a lot of fun.

Q: What kind of batteries do you trust? Are they expensive or cheap? Do they last long?

Animeniax
Fri, 01-09-2009, 11:07 PM
A: I've always liked Duracell. They had the best commercials in the 80s, and now they have the best current slogan about who vital services trust when they need dependable batteries.

Q: If you have a portable hard drive with decent capacity but it's on its last legs, do you continue to use it and risk losing your stuff, or throw it away and get a new one?

Buffalobiian
Fri, 01-09-2009, 11:42 PM
A) If I know it's on it's last legs, I'd replace it without hesitation. Lost data may be unrecoverable, and depending on what it is, it'll could be a great inconvenience. Even if it's just anime, it's a bitch to lose it all. How much do hard disks cost nowadays anyway? If you know how, you can buy your own HDD and stick it in the same casing rather than buying a completely new external drive.

The key point here was "on its last legs", meaning drive failure is just around the corner.

Q) What's your most valuable possession? Give two answers, one for monetary value and one for personal value. Note: identical answers are allowed.

Animeniax
Tue, 01-13-2009, 04:07 AM
A: My pet polar bear, adopted from my sister is the personal one. My bank account(s) is the monetary one.

Q: Would you rather be an amazing lover or a kick-ass fighter?

Paper
Tue, 01-13-2009, 09:44 AM
A: Amazing lover, cause it has it's perks :D

Q: Would you rather be blind or deaf??

Nadouku
Tue, 01-13-2009, 10:30 AM
Q: Would you rather be blind or deaf??

A: If I had no choice, then I would rather be deaf because seeing is believing. You get to see all the spectaticle colors that flow through your everyday life while being blind only allows you to hear the musical world. There are advantages and disadvantages, depends on how you take each stance.

Q: Do you prefer glasses, contact lens, or laser eye surgery for better vision, if your vision was poor enough already? If not, what do you do to maintain the good eye-sight?

Xelbair
Tue, 01-13-2009, 10:45 AM
A: Dead, i love reading and I'm audiophile.

Q: How often do you watch tv?

[edit]
after refresh i see that Nadoku answered that one, so here is anwser to his/her question

I would prefer laser eye surgery - but they cost a lot, i would go for contact lenses because no one have seen me with glasses, and it would be awkward.

...hmmm. Often. But not seriously. I tend to let it play in the backround.

Question: Do you prefer sweet candy or sour candy? (yes, sour does exist...just in case)

Buffalobiian
Wed, 01-14-2009, 03:35 PM
A) I prefer sweet. Like, normal candy. Sour ones can taste nice too, but I do think sweet ones have more variety to choose from. I'm a savory person to begin with, but I like chocolate, and it carries on to sweet candy. Not too sweet though.

Q) How do you take care of your teeth? Floss? Brush twice a day or after every meal? Ever had cavities?

Animeniax
Wed, 01-21-2009, 10:43 AM
A: Brush once a day in the morning, drink lots of water during the day, chew gum a lot, and floss when stuff gets stuck between my teeth.

Q: At work, do you prefer to be the "go-to guy" who gets a lot of work and responsibility, or the slacker who coasts but makes the same pay as the "go-to guy"?

Q: At work, do you prefer to be the "go-to guy" who gets a lot of work and responsibility, or the slacker who coasts but makes the same pay as the "go-to guy"?

A.I'm the slacker. I take my job serious, don't get me wrong especially since the economy is struggling. As you may notice in most job the "go to guy' usually get piles of work and double the work and projects and still underated, with just a thanks and a pat on the back, trust me I know I use to be the "go to guy" then I stop exceling cause it held little to no meaning.

Q.Were do you see yourself in 5 years? Things you will like to accomplish within that time frame.

Nadouku
Wed, 01-21-2009, 11:43 PM
Q.Were do you see urself in 5 years? Things you will like to accomplish within that time frame.

A: I see myself as a professional gamer in five years. I would like to accomplish a lot of things, like be recognized from my tournaments. But a dream like that gets sucked away in a black hole, 'cause I know it'll never be achieved through hard work and dedication alone.

Q: What is your opinion on the so-called "name brand" electrionics (like Sony)? Do they meet your expectations, surpass them, or undermine them?

Buffalobiian
Sun, 01-25-2009, 04:17 AM
Q: What is your opinion on the so-called "name brand" electrionics (like Sony)? Do they meet your expectations, surpass them, or undermine them?

A: To be honest, I don't buy enough electronics to be pass judgment. I really just look at critical and user reviews to decide what I'm buying. In the past, brand names always inspired confidence, but that's not so much anymore.

I do somewhat prefer "name brand" stuff to generic factory knock-offs, but I don't believe in "THE name brand". If it's been on the scene for a a year or two, and people generally say some good things about it, I'll look into it.

Q) What's your favourite mode of transport? Doesn't have to be practical (does have to be considered a mode of transport though :p), just something you enjoy.

Xelbair
Sun, 01-25-2009, 07:46 AM
A: Bike or foot, i hate driving in bus, and its good for your health too.

Q: What would be your dream home?

Buffalobiian
Thu, 02-05-2009, 09:15 AM
Q: What would be your dream home?

A: A couple of years ago, I would have said a sea-side apartment with a very modern, simplistic design. Like designer modern. It would also have everything on your typical "rich houses should have" list.

Now, I'll want a house that I'll truly feel at home. That'll mean at least some, if not all carpeted areas. It gets very dusty, and liquid spills are hell to clean up, but I like lying on the floors, and it gives a really warm feeling. I'd also like some richly coloured wooden furniture - richly as in full of colour, not necessarily expensive, nor rich as in "dark" colour - going with the whole "warm" idea. Seaside views would still be good, but it's not necessary. I'd like it to be on a hillside, so it'll have a penthouse, 1st floor = bedrooms + balcony, ground/1st floor = main floor, entrance, living rooms + balcony, and basement/floor underneath will be pool tables, bbq area, swimming pool and back yard

Q: Do you have more winter clothes or summer clothes?

Xelbair
Thu, 02-05-2009, 09:25 AM
A: Summer ones... well i wear t-shirts all year around(I'm just cold immune IRL).

Q: If you found out that you have fake memories what would you do?

(yes i know - i've broken the rule - but the thread is still and no one posts right now)

Paper
Thu, 02-05-2009, 09:53 AM
A. I would run test on myself thru a "minority report" but if that fails “which it will” because I don't have a machine capable of that function. I would scour the earth to find out the meaning of my own life existence and question my own questions since my mind can be fake too since my memories are  .

Q.Would you ever sacrifice your life for another love one?

Nadouku
Thu, 02-05-2009, 02:31 PM
A: If there was a situation where you loved the person more than yourself, then yes, I would sacrifice myself to save the person that I loved or dearly admired. Truthfully, there aren't many experiences of that happening around the world, but it does happen.

Q: What would you do if you found out that you went bankrupt one day?

Buffalobiian
Sun, 02-22-2009, 08:15 AM
Q: What would you do if you found out that you went bankrupt one day?

Apply for bankruptcy, live humbly for a few years while studying (if you're allowed to study full-time when you're bankrupt), and emerge a better person. If you mean suddenly losing everything, but not debt, then live off the Gov't's money while studying. Same deal really.

Q: How do you want your body to be treated when you're dead? Cremented, buried? Are you an organ donor? Will you donate your body to be molested by twisted medical students science?

Xelbair
Sun, 02-22-2009, 09:06 AM
A: hmm, i think that i would have it cremated, or i would think something badass like slice it into 4 parts and put them in:
- North Pole
- South Pole
- someplace in japan
- someplace in US or Canada
but only if i were sadistic enough to enforce it through my last will on my children.

Q: Devil appeared before you, and he offers you a deal. You would be best singer in the world but you would not be able to touch any instrument ever, and your hands would be only strong enough for eating drinking or the opposite, but instead of not touching instrument you would loose your voice?

Death BOO Z
Sun, 02-22-2009, 03:10 PM
I don't play or sing at all, so either is a step for the better for me.

Q: the same devil appears, and offers you to erase your worst memory, and that you'll never repeat the trauma that you forget, would you want to get that experience removed?

Spiegel
Thu, 02-26-2009, 05:05 PM
A: No, I would rather just have that there because frankly to me, remembering a past fault is better than forgetting it forever.

Q: You hit a drunk individual with your car and both of you are in the middle of nowhere, you can still drive away as he is unconscious and you could get away. You know the accident is your fault and you could go to jail for many years because of it. What do you do?

Buffalobiian
Thu, 02-26-2009, 09:13 PM
A: I really can't say. Sitting in front of my computer right how, I'd say I'd stay and take whatever consequence I'm in for. It mightn't be that bad, since that guy's drunk - it's not like he remembers what happened.

But the real deal can be really different. Lots of people run off on the fit of a moment, then come to regret it later. That really could happen.

Then you have those who'd strangle the dude and run him over a few times to make sure he's dead, dispose of the body and pretend nothing ever happened.

Q: How much money do you keep in your wallet/purse usually? Lots to convenience yourself? Minimal to be safe/limit your spending? Do you tend to use EFTPOS or credit over hard cash?

Q: How much money do you keep in your wallet/purse usually? Lots to convenience yourself? Minimal to be safe/limit your spending? Do you tend to use EFTPOS or credit over hard cash?

A: I usually keep around $50 in my wallet but I always carry more if I'm opt enough to go buy a game. I never seem to use EFTPOS or Credit Card that much, so I prefer to hand in cash, even though that defeats the purpose of your last line. :p

Q: What do you do most of your days?

I.E. do you work? Do you do minimal chores to pass the day like cleaning clothes and washing dishes? Dash out to the gym to exercise?

Xelbair
Fri, 02-27-2009, 03:58 PM
A: Playing Guitar and reading

Q: You got hibernated for 1000 years and humanity has perished - what would you do?

Buffalobiian
Fri, 02-27-2009, 06:49 PM
A) Reproduce with exotic elf-like creatures that have evolved in that time I don't know....survive?

Q) What would you rather live? Days without night, or nights without days? ie permanent light or darkness?

XanBcoo
Fri, 02-27-2009, 07:38 PM
A: How will life on earth continue without sunlight? Days without nights. You can always lock yourself in a basement if you want darkness, but there's no substitute for natural sunlight.

Q: If you could move to any other country and live there for a year, which would it be?

Xelbair
Sat, 02-28-2009, 04:17 AM
A: Japan or Australia, i always wanted to visit those 2 countries.

Q: How much time you usually spend on phone, weekly?

Buffalobiian
Wed, 03-25-2009, 06:17 AM
Q: How much time you usually spend on phone, weekly?

A: Probably....5mins on an average week. I barely use my phone. Most of the time I call people to see when they'll be coming to where ever we're supposed to meet, or home.

Q: How do you usually go about picking presents for friends? e.g. see what's on special, subtly ask them for what they need/want, discuss with a bunch of friends for ideas?

Nadouku
Wed, 03-25-2009, 11:41 AM
Q: How do you usually go about picking presents for friends? e.g. see what's on special, subtly ask them for what they need/want, discuss with a bunch of friends for ideas?

A: The way I do it is bluntly ask them what they want the most, usually when it's their birthday. On special occasions, however, I rally up some friends to discuss ideas about what to pick out from their idea on the person's preferences. We usually work together in this case.

Q: You and your friend are driving down the road when someone cuts y'all off. Your friend starts cussing about and throwing a "road rage". What do you do?

XanBcoo
Thu, 03-26-2009, 01:54 AM
A: I guess I'm not the right person to answer that question, since I yell the hardest when I'm in my car and some person is going 10 miles below the speed limit or does something incredibly stupid with their giant vehicle. It's almost cathartic since I know they can't hear me.

If someone else rages, I just go "Yeesh, calm down," and ignore the fact that I'm worse than they are.

Q: Would you rather be with a girl/guy who is excessively overweight, or excessively underweight?

Animeniax
Thu, 03-26-2009, 03:11 AM
A: Excessively overweight, because we could work out together, and the process and results would be enjoyed by the both of us, as well as the benefits to our relationship. Before anyone says "well maybe she wouldn't care to lose weight", I wouldn't be dating that type of girl in the first place.

Q: Are you territorial? Do you have to have somethings that are yours alone and no one else's?

Stitch
Thu, 03-26-2009, 07:49 AM
A. That's an easy one! Yep, I'm definitely territorial. I have to have something of my own to defile and pillage as I please.

Q. Do you take an extremist view to everything in life or do you like to compromise?

Xelbair
Thu, 03-26-2009, 04:34 PM
A: depends on situation, if there is no way to convince other guy/gal to my point of view i just try to compromise, and i always try to thing about his view too... that dosen't change the fact that I'm right and he is wrong :]

Q: What would be for you a best utopia-like political system?

Buffalobiian
Thu, 03-26-2009, 08:01 PM
Q: What would be for you a best utopia-like political system?

A: Hmm, I guess the one I'd pick would be the one they use in Sweden...Socialism? Or was that Switzerland? Anyway, that one seems to work quite well, providing good support for citizens and the like. From memory, I think one of the requirements for it to work properly was very limited immigration.

Q: Who was your favourite childhood superhero?

6Zabuza9
Thu, 03-26-2009, 10:19 PM
A:Goku.... what i wouldn't give to get his powers..

Q:Would you rather lose two arms, two legs, or 1 arm and 1 leg?

Buffalobiian
Sat, 03-28-2009, 07:54 PM
Q:Would you rather lose two arms, two legs, or 1 arm and 1 leg?

Both legs, easy choice. If you look around you, there are plenty of places with access ramps and self-opening-doors to disabled toilets and stuff. Wheelchairs also don't give you anywhere as much inconvenience as losing an arm, let alone two.

Losing your legs would basically impair your ability to move - especially if you've got your hands full, if you've got to climb upwards (ladders, stairs to a bus), or really rough terrain.
You'll miss out on football too I guess, but that's not essential to daily living (unless you're a professional sportsperson). It'll be a bummer if you're a diehard sports fan though.

Arms are on a completely different scale. You need to type, write, cook, take pictures, drink water, open windows, put on your headphones, open a book, masturbate ....... (You might be able to tell, I'm just looking around my room for inspiration). Technologies to compensate for these actions are nowhere near satisfactory.

Losing an arm and a leg would just earn you the worst of both worlds and the best of none.

However, if we're at the age where losing an arm means you'll get a fully functional bionic arm with 200x human strength...yeah, why not :D

Q: Do you do enough exercise in your life?

XanBcoo
Sat, 03-28-2009, 10:06 PM
A: I lift weights on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. I run (or rather, use an elliptical) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

So...,no?

Question: What's your favorite alcoholic drink?

Xelbair
Sun, 03-29-2009, 07:32 AM
A: Corona with lime

Q: One guy developed a machine that can "transport" character from anime to real world - and he asks you which one would you choose. What is your answer?

Buffalobiian
Tue, 03-31-2009, 08:58 AM
Q: One guy developed a machine that can "transport" character from anime to real world - and he asks you which one would you choose. What is your answer?

A: Tohsaka Rin. I hope she likes me :o

(Or maybe even C.C. Unlimited abuse potential Undying beauty is a plus, though they'd both kick my ass....)

-----------------------

Q: If you were dating a guy/girl who you think is the most beautiful in the world, then when you're about to be engaged, you find out s/he's had major plastic surgery, and everything about him/her is fake. What is your reaction?

Xelbair
Tue, 03-31-2009, 10:34 AM
A: Thread looks dead so i'll respond sooner than allowed
It would depend of her personality, if she would be totally annoying i would not date her even if she was the most beautiful girl ever. But if she was the one i love it wouldn't matter.

Q: What would be better in your opinion, a "perfect" world where law is strictly enforced by magic means(that means no crime) or the existing law enforcement?

Nadouku
Wed, 04-01-2009, 10:50 AM
Q: What would be better in your opinion, a "perfect" world where law is strictly enforced by magic means(that means no crime) or the existing law enforcement?

A: In my vision, there would be no perfect world. Everything will have a flaw and still have one no matter how hard the society tries to enforce their laws through other conventional means. It would be impossible to have that kind of world.

Q: You have a friend who is displaying your research and work, but is not crediting you. How do you handle the situation?

Buffalobiian
Fri, 04-03-2009, 11:09 AM
: You have a friend who is displaying your research and work, but is not crediting you. How do you handle the situation?

A: I'd ask him for a reason why he didn't credit me, or took my work. Depending on the answer and the importance of that work, I would either be quite angry with him for a while, or report it to whatever regulatory authority is in charge at that level (school, uni, scientific journals). If course, that would be my last measure since he's my "friend". How much of a friend he remains to be after this is also a good question.

Q: How many pairs of shoes do you have, and for what purpose?

Xelbair
Fri, 04-03-2009, 01:23 PM
A: One for everything. Once i had like 3 pairs but i ended using only one and i outgrow rest, and from that time i have only one pair at once.

Q:What is your favorite color?

itadakimasu
Fri, 04-03-2009, 03:27 PM
A: Blue

Q: Coke or Pepsi?

Buffalobiian
Tue, 04-07-2009, 07:46 AM
Q: Coke or Pepsi?

A: Coke all the way!! I can drink either since I'm not really picky on either one. Pepsi tends to taste sweeter, while Coke has a bigger "hit" -> possibly more fizz? It's the main reason I like Coke.

Q: How often do you guys cut your hair? What's the shortest time between cuts, the longest in between, and why? I think my shortest is ~6 weeks, longest is ~6 months. Shortest because it looked bad, and longest because I couldn't be bothered to cut it.

Xelbair
Tue, 04-07-2009, 01:24 PM
A: not even once for 3 years - long hair FTW! - and pepsi is better(sweeter)

Q: Do you want to grow beard and/or mustache?

Death BOO Z
Wed, 04-08-2009, 07:57 AM
Not again. once was bad enough, all sorts of food sticking to it and making in impossible to eat like a normal person.

Q: if you had to choose one as a pet and take care of it: Lizard or Spider?

Sapphire
Wed, 04-08-2009, 09:33 AM
A: I'd probably rather take care of a spider. They seem lower maintenance providing it's not pregnant and decides to lay eggs everywhere. Plus it reminds me of Charlotte's Web.

Q: What is the most awkward moment you've ever had?

Buffalobiian
Mon, 04-13-2009, 12:27 PM
A: I really don't remember many of my awkward moments (though there no doubt have been), let alone the most awkward one. Something that happened recently though, would be that someone asked Dad to move his car out of the visitor's parking slot opposite our house so our neighbour's visitor could park there. He was 2mins away.

Dad asked me to move it for him, so I grabbed the keys. When I got out to the car, there was another car that parked its way in front of ours, blocking my exit. So, not knowing exactly who asked us to move as I wasn't at the initial conversation, I approached the driver, who was actually in my OTHER neighbour's house, and asked that he'll need to move his car if he wants me out.

Naturally, we were both confused, and stared blankly. It was rather awkward.

Q) At what age did you become self-conscious about your own appearance?

Nadouku
Mon, 04-13-2009, 01:45 PM
Q) At what age did you become self-conscious about your own appearance?

A: I became aware of my appearance at around ten, and after that, I became cautious about my own well-being. Most of the time, I associate my appearance with something that has the color black on it, since black happens to be my favorite color.

Q: How would you define as being successful?

Xelbair
Tue, 04-14-2009, 06:13 AM
A: Enjoying what you do, get a beautiful, intelligent and fun wife, get a pretty good payment for your job and most importantly enjoy your lifestyle.

Q:You just won a lottery, and you walk with winning ticket and someone aproaches you and says: "Ticket or your life?". he is holding a knife and looks pretty tough(2m tall). what do you do?(please no answers like i take bazooka and shoot him - be realistic)

Sapphire
Tue, 04-14-2009, 08:49 AM
A: How do they know I have the winning ticket? Hopefully I can figure out how to be discrete. The first thing I would do is freeze in shock, probably, and then I would regret that I never took kung fu lessons. And then I would frantically search for somewhere to run. (All of this would happen in about two seconds), if there was no where run, I would kick said person in the nuts as hard as possible, try to memorize his face and run away to the cops. Considering the fact that I live in NYC, a wandering cop shouldn't be too far away. And hopefully I don't end up in some dark desolate alley that is prone to have this type of guy..

Q: What is a language you have always wanted to learn? If you haven't started learning it, what's stopping you? If you have, how's your progress?

Buffalobiian
Fri, 04-24-2009, 07:31 PM
Q: What is a language you have always wanted to learn? If you haven't started learning it, what's stopping you? If you have, how's your progress?

A: Right now: Japanese, but I can't do it right now since I don't have the time for it. I've cut down on musical practice already, and if I get the time, I'll have to catch up on that instead, finishing what I started.

Always wanted to learn? Swahili. I always wanted to learn something really different. It might also get me out of a tight situation should I get into strife there. However, it's just a long-standing idea. I'd never practically use it, so learning it would be a waste of time and money. I'd forget in an instant.

Q: If you could have anything you wanted as a pet, what would you want? Name 1 real and 1 fantasy animal.

Xelbair
Sat, 04-25-2009, 05:29 AM
A: Wolf as real pet, and small dragon or Griffin as a fantasy one.

Q:What was your first pet?

Konohamaru!
Mon, 04-27-2009, 01:29 PM
A: Wolf as real pet, and small dragon or Griffin as a fantasy one.

Q:What was your first pet?
A: A goldfish named Goldenlance (lasted about 3 weeks)

Q: If you could be given a nicname that would stick your whole life. What would you want it to be, and why?

The nickname that several people, but not everyone I know use: Xan.

My dad has called me that since I was little. Some people I know use it occasionally, and there have been few people who have only known me by that name. I like it and hope it would stick with people more often.

Q: What is your favorite band

A: I don't have one anymore. I'm completely (edit) INdiscriminant of music genres and performers as long as it sounds "good" to me. That said, past most likable bands in highschool would have been KISS, U2, Rise Against and Rammstein.

After that I went through phases of listening to Rascal Flatts, Backstreet Boys and various Cantonese pop artists.

Now I can listen and sample anything. Except Metal and Opera genres. I don't think I have any of them.

Way to go off-topic from your question, but anyhow

You're originally from Texas, Sapphire?? Which part?

A: Favorite TV show is UFC Unleashed on SpikeTV. Get to see all the old fights I missed. For dramas, I'd say Bones, though I'm catching up on TNT after not watching for 3.5 years.

Q: Have you played any collectable card game? which one if you did?

Buffalobiian
Mon, 02-28-2011, 07:39 AM
A: Yu Gi Oh. I bought a Kaiba starter deck and kicked (my brother and my neighbours') ass with it and it only. The special cards tend to bend though, since they're printed on foil + backing paper, and makes it really easy for your opponent to shuffle the deck so the card (Blue Eyes White Dragon in my case) sits on the bottom. We ended up settling with the rule of shuffling without looking.

I also collected pokemon cards, but only made up rules to play them with since I didn't really understand complex rules back then.

Q: Was there a time you felt like a total failure in your life? If so, care to share a bit about it? If not, what would you perceive, or expect, yourself to be a failure at in the future?

It has happened a few times, but I am a strange person that tends to agonize over even the smallest mistakes and make them into colossal failures. One thing that made me feel like in such a way was breaking up with a gf that I had been with for a while (even though I knew it was not going to work out unless something drastic happened). It felt like I was a quitter and that the failure of the relationship was totally my fault (it was not).

Stuffed Hamburgers.

I was trying out a mixture of mushrooms, diced onions and pepperjack. It turned out quite well, much better than what i was expecting.

A: Yes. I thought this girl was frivolous and pointless and devoid of worth. Then she said "no one likes Koreans except other Koreans." Now I think she's the greatest person in the world, for other reasons besides though.

Q: Fucking magnets, how do they work?

Xelbair
Tue, 03-01-2011, 12:14 PM
A: Long story short - at sub-atomic level you can find electrons that move - this movement is enough to generate changes in electric field, which in turn generates magnetic field. Magnets are made from materials that naturally have vectors of those field aligned together so its field is stronger, we call those Ferromagnetic materials, while Diamagnetic materials have its small fields arranged randomly so a lot of them negate each other and their field is just too weak to work as magnet.
Attraction and repulsion is just property of field and its vectors - like with electrostatic.

A: I like the idea, but after taking some biology courses, namely Biomaterials and Biofluids, I've learned just what a train wreck it is to try to mess with the balance of things in the body. Even simple prosthetics turn out to be ridiculously complicated to implement because they fail so easily. In the end, nothing we create even comes close to measuring up to the innate properties of the human body. We think our technology is so advanced, and it is, but compared to biology we're still just beginner level. The more I learn about bioengineering, the more I hope I never have to have any of these things implemented on me.

A: i don't admire any of them. hehehe

Q: what is having a girlfriend/boyfriend to you?

A: To be honest I don't really know. They should be someone you like (sexually + other), feel attracted to, admire some (if not all) of their attributes, and someone you like the company of. During the boy/girlfriend phase you work out their faults, see how far you can go for their sake, and see if you're both happy with the results.

Q: How do you keep track of your spending? Do you budget? Do you draw a set amount of cash from your bank every week etc and monitor your wallet to keep track of your spending? if you don't "keep track", why do you think that is? Simply don't spend enough? Or work too hard and long to find time to spend money? (Note: answering the first question will do. ;) )

Dark Dragon
Wed, 03-02-2011, 04:09 AM
I'm generally aware of my bank account balance at all times. I'm pretty good when it comes to managing money, good thing i decided to roll with that and went into accounting. I usually try to keep a budget and the amount really depends on when i expect to get more money in. It's generally flexible since i give myself a broad goal like "have x by the end of the month" so if i spend too much one week, i try to cut back the next one. I find that it's better to give yourself an "amount left" goal rather than a "spending goal" because you can easily fall into the trap of thinking something like "I can spend up to X so it should be ok if i buy this". If you approach it with the mind set that you want a certain amount left, you're always aware of how much your money is decreasing by and that'll lead to better buying habits.

Q: Do you have any bad habits that you're aware of? If so, would you like to be rid of it? or is the habit something that makes you who you are?

saiyame
Wed, 03-02-2011, 04:22 AM
A: i don't know if this is bad enough but i have a habit of procrastination and taking chances/risks and saying "come what may". and yeah, sometimes, i do want to get rid of it, but i think there are some positive outputs that had and may occur because i have such a habit. :)

Q: are you guilty of stereo-typing? If yes, do you feel ashamed/guilty? or it's something that you enjoy to do so?

Thu, 03-03-2011, 06:52 PM
A) Yes, for now, my main stereotypes are pre-medical students/aspirational doctors under science majors as some of the most neurotic and secretly psychotic people I know.

If they could secretly sabotage someone's experiments to improve their chances of getting into medical school, they would. They would lie on their experimental results and cheat the integrity of science by conjuring up imaginary "accurate" data so that they can score higher in their lab reports. They also are arrogant, claim themselves to be "altruistic" (even though we know that's not true), are trying to be medical specialists instead of family physicians/general practioners (which is what society really needs right now) and eventually, most of them will have terrible relationships with patients.

I enjoy doing stereotyping these people because 90% of the time, it's true.

Q) How do you feel about homeless or handicapped people who can barely support themselves? What is your approach to this societal societal problem and how would you do it in a way that would not imbalance a Democratic (liberal) society?

Q) How do you feel about homeless or handicapped people who can barely support themselves? What is your approach to this societal societal problem and how would you do it in a way that would not imbalance a Democratic (liberal) society? A: I'm not too sure since I have little exposure to that sort of stuff, but isn't social security working for them? I was under the assumption that while the amount may not be comfortable to live with, they won't starve. I've had two people tell me they were homeless at the bottleshop that I work at. I never delved too deeply into exactly they were homeless, but they looked healthy enough on the surface anyway.

B: Do you think men age better than women? Is it that fat older men (to fill their wrinkling skin) is generally considered more acceptable than a fat older woman? Or is it because men in general don't look as pretty as women in their youth anyway, and therefore the aging process seems to have more of an impact on women's appearance than on men?

rockmanj
Tue, 06-14-2011, 02:14 PM
A:I think it depends on a number of factors (ethnicity, diet, environment, etc.), but I think that men tend to "age" better than women because (and I am generalising) women tend to be attracted to more than just physical attributes, especially as they age. I think in a lot of cultures, women tend to be more attractive when they are younger and more 'viable'; that is, able to produce offspring. If you want to go all Evolutionary Psychology (which I am not a big fan of), men are able to reproduce at much later ages than women, therefore still being somewhat viable in older age. That is my take, anyway.

A: Breakfast Cereal

Q: How do you feel about fusion cuisine? Specific examples with different opinions for each are also possible.

A: I think it should be encouraged. I can't give examples because I can't exactly remember the details. I think innovation in almost any form is a good thing. "Classic" recipes only became "classic" because someone invented it and it survived the test of time. "Time" isn't exactly correct, but rather it was still liked after being tested against the innovations that came after it.

Fusion in and of itself doesn't cross some moral or practical line in my books, so I don't really see the negatives in it. It could potentially turn out really tasty, and that's the only positive I need. Cuisine is intertwined with culture, and given that we live in a globalised world these days, it's also rather inevitable.

Q: If there was one thing that you could change about yourself, what would it be? (Think of it as "If you had one wish that could be granted", but applied to you. Feel free to interpret what "you" encompases.. just no world peace answers. I want to hear something that changes your status quo).

A: I would give myself insane willpower! (willpower x 10)

I want to do a fuck ton of things, (insanity body, sculpture, writing novels, painting, etc.) and the only thing standing in my way is the ability to sustain interest in it and commit all my time to that and only that. Even meditation requires some amount of consistent effort, so mucho willpower means I can basically accomplish ANYTHING I set my mind to and better my life (and those of others with the profit I gain from it).... world peacey answer?

Edit: Buff just gave me my weekly dose of motivation. <3 my Buff!

A: I would necro a dumb thread if it will gather interest and posts in an otherwise relatively inactive forum. I don't think I have ever done it for a dumb thread, but I have done it for threads with little to no attention, like LN and VN ones.

Q: Have you ever felt genuinely happy? I know that happiness can be defined in many ways, so it is fine if you base this on what you yourself truly believe. If so, what is the event/cause of such a feeling?
