Hey guys. I just found this place by accident and i saw some of the most amazing sigs and avatars ever so i decided to join. Im quite the amateur :P I dont even do my own backgrounds i always work with a couple of padrons i have and i twist them around. Id like some tips from the pros on how to get better pls, heres some of my work:

Im a huge bleach fan so i just made another. I know i should spend more time with each sig but honestly after like 1-2 hours with it i just run out of ideas.

Whoa, really? Well, welcome, it's nice to have a new face in the art section here. I think you've really got some potential. The renders and bg's of your sigs there blend really smoothly, and your placement of elements within the sig is really balanced as well. The more you practice, the better you'll get.

you show some promise, that's for certain. you should try to work some more 'depth' into your sigs. Because you tend to use a large canvas, you should make sure that eyes initally fall on the 'focus' of the sig, otherwise people might get lost. You do well with render placement and integrating backgrounds, so the next step I'd recommend would be working with brushing and lighting.

Your drawings are excellent, and your 'shopping needs minimal work. (It stings to say this, though) I agree with Masa. Just minor touch-ups and less negative space, in my opinion.

Here are a couple more from way back when. I'm currently working on a sasori drawing that is turning out quite well, i just need to work in the eyes a litle more and then i'll post it here too. After all, the stuff i'm posting here is a litle old, i've gotten better since then :D

Your drawings remind me of that guy Zentron's.

Everything is pretty good about them except the faces, which are pretty bad. You need to work on the placement of the eyes and mouth. Don't just slap them on there.

Edit: what did you use to color the ones above this post?

I don't like taking petty arguments out of the 'pit. Your later batches of drawings are pretty good (this coming from someone who can't draw, but still... :P). I liked the color ones; they're very well done.

i like that sasori... the eyes are just right btw (in my opinion) except the right eye maybe (its a bit larger than the left isn't it?) its more edgy and not "round".. i don't know how to explain it, the "nose-side" of the right eye is what i m talking about compared to the "nose-side" of the left eye ^^

btw you could make a good wallpaper out of this

there is a hidan wallpaper out there similiar to this (with half of his face @ the left side of the screen and a dark red/black background, its one of my favorites)

ah and you probably should make the hair on the forehead a bit simpler, you have "2 layers of hair" there if you know what i mean :P and i think the second layer is too much

ah and is sasori looking straight to us or a bit the left (in our point of view. in his it would be to his right).. because if he looks directly to us i think his left pupil is a bit wong in my opinion

i marked the hair (its not really too much its just that it looks a bit awkward don't you think? it feels like you were thinking "man it looks so empty there i should add some hair strands" i don't know how to help you there because i would have done the same thing i think... but it feels a bit wrong

i marked the different between his right and left eye as you can see the left eye is bigger in in a vertical direction and smaller in a horizontal direction

and the pupil (the left might be a bit wrong too then) but i think you wanted him to look a bit to the side now, after relooking at it and not directly to us.

this is just my opinion though, i m not so good in drawing like you are so you will probably be better off without me or with ignoring this ^^


btw i like the nose! but i can't say if there is anything wrong with it because i can't draw it like that ^^

I'm happy with it but the hollow hole just doesn't look good and i think i made his neck too long.

Edit to below: Paint had nothing to do with this sig but i do agree the hole in the chest need more work. It all your dam fault for making me color it in the first place, i suck at coloring :P

Agreed. The color blotches are also somewhat indicative of Paint use as well, I'd think. If you're confused, look at my sig. There's all the proof you need.

Lmao it better look very clean. U don't have any idea the trouble i went through to extract that image. Extracting hair is difficult as hell!

What about a brick wall BG with blood spatters? something desaturated or dark gray would work I think. Then you can just add texture via blurring etc.

I know what you're thinking and yeah, i'm ashamed to say i used photoshop on this one. Let me explain, as you can see there's sort of a line between their eyes, i wanted to make this kind of electric beam between them ( u know like they did in the anime sometimes ) but it got incredibly screwed up so i shopped it so it just looked like a smooth line ( still looks like shit tough )

Except for that i think i kind of made a good job, in fact, i may color it and make a sig out of it later :D

great job there, this is really better imho.

a little more blood would be cool, but I don't know in which way it is possible... maybe it will destroy the picture, so its probably better to leave it that way, without the blood (I don't know)

But if you are tired in doing anymore, I'd take it as it is, even though I would like you to think about the "name on helmet" idea (or somewhere else on the picture)

Name should definitely be on the gun since there is a perfect space for it at the bottom (an engraved feel would look insane), and a bit more blood spatter can be placed on the gun, helmet, and clothing. The one on the clothes should be a darker shade though, to show cloth absorption.

but with all the blood behind her and especially on the left side of the picture, it looks too brutal ^^, you destroyed the nice biohazard-sign with it, hehe.

btw, I guess the idea with the name on the weapon/knife/gun is a no go? I always feel bad when I'm complaining about others work, especially if its done for my sake, but I'm not satisfied with the name at the moment (sorry :()

hmm wheres the problem? the "bloodless" version is just ~3 posts above the bloddy version, can't you redo it it from there?

or is there a problem, because the layers arn't saved correctly or something? (well since you only have to add a bit of blood and the name this shouldn't be much of a problem)

Well i saved over the previous layers by accident and i've made the blood by using brushes which means it can't be undone.

I won't lie to you i was a bit tired of working on the same sig but i really didn't do it on purpose, i don't like to leave my work unfinished but altering it now is just near impossible, sorry :(

However try not to make the name too big (that is if you are going to insert it somewhere).. that's why I like Lucifus sig(s) so much..

For those of you who don't know, a redraw is when an scanlator draws over the original drawing of the mangaka as to eliminate text outside of the balloons. Usually this is only done by quality scanlators, for example sleepy fans just puts text over it (http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/379/02-03/)

Usually i would use text too, but this one came out so nice that i'll just leave it like that :)

'A Soft Heart within a Hard Shell' -
I like this the best. Both are stubborn and of explosive character... yet they also care too much about their friends/loved ones. She's the Tsudere of hack as well, lol.

'Honeysuckle - Devoted Affection' -
It has significance towards the plot of GU, though I don't think this one would work with the Chim Chim background

'A Rogue and his Empress' -
He is an Adept Rogue... also know as Tri-Emperor (Demon Emperor, Holy Emperor and Sage Emperor) or Terror of Death... whereas she is a Twin Blade, and is the ex-Demon Empress

I wonder if it would look even better if the white border was the same colour as the BG instead? It might produce a good effect similar to the things in the background.

I am not a fan of the text (the wording) itself though.

I think there is just too much text.
And the white border (on the text) doesn't help things.

I would put RZ in the bottom left corner instead of spelling out his entire username. Using a different font for it would be nice I think as well. Or put it in the bottom right corner along the girls lighter grey part of her shirt, maybe having to warp the text a bit to be in line with it. Then blend it in.

As for the rest of the text, I would make the first part bigger than the HxA part. You want the defining description to be more noticeable than who the characters are, or the characters that said it. Try what shinta suggested and make the border the same colour as the background, see if that has a better effect.

Lastly, it seems you only have half a border going on. While having the render appear over the border is fine, it seems like there isn't any border behind it. Most noticeable in the top right above the girls arm. Don't know if this was intentional or not.

Hope that is some decent criticism. I've never been very good at it, so I tried to go off what I would have done.

My opinion is rather basic: "that it doesn't look as nice because of the noise"

That in itself didn't change between the two times I saw the pic, but I asked in order to clarify if there was something you changed that I had missed.

I like how you've lessened the noise (though zero would have been good, but I'm not sure how necessary noise is in the way you're trying to process this pic), but the colours are all weird (google has yet to taught me what "levelling" is yet). Look at the back of Fate's thighs.

I made it as big as possible without seeming intrusive ( in my opinion at least ) or ruining the layout. Hopefully the mods will cut me some slack on this one since it's quite hard encompassing the awesomeness of jojo in a single mere image. Plus this one took me a while to finish.
