AKA, Platinum Dunes, a production company, is setting up shop to remake Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. I'm a fan of horror movies, even bad ones, so I'm lookin' forward to them. This is the same company that is remaking Near Dark and The Birds, though they're waiting on the writer's strike to end before moving forward.

I'm glad they're doing this for these two... the last couple of movies for them were a mockery and they really ruined the franchise in my opinion. I'm not worried about Jason, but I'm worried about Nightmare especially if they cast someone else as Freddy instead of Robert Englund. Robert Englund is an icon.

This is good news indeed. I'm a big fan too of both franchises even though i slightly favor Freddy over Jason. And as bud said, Robert Englund is the big problem here. He is basically irreplaceable. But then again he don't seem to get many big movie roles and Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger so hopefully he wants this project.

And if they are recreating the originals the story will be pretty good and it will be nice to see it with todays special effects.

Anyways i always welcome this sort of things. It's not like the original isn't still great if the remake turns out to be crappy. So it's all good.

And i remember back when these movies where made (not the first once since i was only four) and i watched them on TV when i was around 10-12 years old. Man where they scary. Both Freddy and Jason. I even remember watching Friday the 13th 3 or 4 with my little sister. We where home alone and it was winter so it was pitch black outside. Man was a scared then. My sister didn't even dare to put down her feet on the floor and walk out because she was afraid someone would grab her ankle from under the bed or something. I really wish i could feel that kind of terror from a horror movie again but i guess that is impossible.

I think only 2 or 3 other movies have ever made me as scared as Jason and Freddy and that was Alien and a movie series named Critters, even thought that one wasn't that scary, it was more of the setting since i was in a cabin in the woods when i watched that one. I know i am forgetting something but anyways hopefully this is going to be great.

Ok so Robert Englund will not be doing the remake. To bad :/

It was in one of Sweden's biggest newspaper-sites. If you don't understand swedish you wont get shit from this but i thought i just give you the link anyways

Most interesting part is:

– Jag är för gammal för den här nya versionen. Det skulle bara kännas som ”Freddy vs. Viagra”, säger skådespelaren själv skämtsamt till Hollywood.com.

Faktum är att Englund inte ens tillfrågats om att medverka. Kanske för att studion visste att svaret skulle bli nej.

Which means:

- I'm to old for this new version. It would only feel like "Freddy vs Viagra", says the actor as a joke to Hollywood.com

The fact is that Englund wasn't even asked if he wanted be in the movie. Maybe because the studio knew the answer would be no.

So there seems to be an article on hollywood.com. I'm not going to go there myself but i bet someone of you will. Also he wasn't even asked? What's up with that? Even if they knew in advance that he wasn't going to do it, they could at least have asked. Could have been cool if he had played a cameo or something at least. For the fans. Question is, did he say that thing about being to old because he feels to old or to save face because he wasn't even asked?
