This may be old news to some, but there's a new Hulk movie being made that should come out this summer. It's starring Edward Norton, so right off the bat we're off to a good start... one of the best actors in the business. Then they said that they are starting anew, that piece of shit that came out in 2003 will have nothing to do with this, so there's another good thing. Then they say that they're planning it to be a trilogy or more, that this is only chapter 1... and that's always great. Hopefully they'll do good this time, and I'd be very careful of the Hulk design... last time it was way too cartoonie. Well, I hope this is a good one and succeeds.
Also, the villian is The Abomination... which I think would bring total chaos to the movie. It should have a ton of action.
http://imdb.com/title/tt0800080/
The explosive, action-packed adventure in one of the all-time most popular superhero sagas unfolds with a cure in reach for the world's most primal force of fury: THE INCREDIBLE HULK. We find scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) living in shadows, scouring the planet for an antidote. But the warmongers who dream of abusing his powers won't leave him alone, nor will his need to be with the only woman he has ever loved, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler). Upon returning to civilization, our brilliant doctor is ruthlessly pursued by The Abomination (Tim Roth) -- a nightmarish beast of pure adrenaline and aggression whose powers match The Hulk's own. A fight of comic-book proportions ensues as Banner must call upon the hero within to rescue New York City from total destruction. And on June 13, 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice -- accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or the creature he could permanently become: THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

To compare... Old Hulk vs. New Hulk:

Things are looking good so far.

They should have made him the intelligent grey Hulk. That was the best incarnation. New Hulk looks like old Hulk if he became a bum. I still don't like the cartoonish nature of the CGI for the Hulk movies. Spider-man and other super hero movies look more realistic. They should go back to painting some big bodybuilder like they did in the 80s. Maybe Brock Lesnar, once his arm and face heal after Frank Mir breaks it and caves it in, respectively.

That's just the concept art... I think it'll look much better, and they aren't doing it solely CGI like they did on the first movie. Apparently "Leterrier planned to use prosthetic makeup and animatronics" and also CGI.
In terms of the look and shape of the Hulk, how would you compare the CGI from the 2003 film to yours?
LETERRIER: In the first one, they did a great job [but] there was no weight to him. He was flying around and it was very poetic, but our movie is grittier. When I offered my services to do the job, I said I want everything to be gritty, darker, even a little scarier. Frankenstein, King Kong…these monsters are pretty scary. They’re not smooth-looking, fluorescent-green-looking characters. They’re pretty dark and, still, within, there’s a tenderness and a humanity that you can see through them.
Are there any special Hulk comics that were a particular inspiration for you?
LETERRIER: Hulk: Gray, the Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale one, was a big inspiration for me. It’s so graphic and so perfect in its composition. That’s what got me back into the mood of the Hulk. When my agent called me and said, “Do you want to remake the Hulk?” I went to a comic book store and I picked up Hulk: Gray. That’s what made me hungry to do another Hulk movie. So there will be Hulk: Gray references, but also there will be Bruce Jones, Peter David [references]…It’s chock-full of references.

With Edward Norton taking charge of the project, I doubt that he'd let this movie turn to crap.

hmmm, a new Hulk movie? Well, it LOOKS better.
The last one wasn't...good at all. It just...didn't have that spark.

Well that thing about making it darker and scarier sound promising. Thats what made the new Batman movie so awesome.
Well all sounds and points to an awesome and great Hulk movie. And a Trilogi is also always a promising think.

Yeah but Batman was always a dark character, it was half his appeal. He's an anti-hero, a vigilante. The Hulk is an anti-hero, but nothing dark and disturbing about him. He's more like Spider-man, where a freak accident turned him into what he is, instead of personal tragedy. I don't think a darker theme to the Hulk will help the movie.

I thought the CG didn't look as realistic as it should be, but I'm sure they have plenty of time to clean it up. I'm liking this hulk though, compared to the Lee Ang version a few years back.

Superhero movies really are hit-and-miss. I really can't tell if this will be any good from the trailer alone.

With the Hulk's lack of charisma and speech, they need to surround him with characters that make him more appealing and likable. Right now, he's just a giant mindless emo. No one wants to see a movie about a giant emo who can kick their ass. They need the requisite hot chick, sort-of-hot chick, wise-cracking sidekick, closet-gay friend, and of course the cool-uncool hero friend who leads the group of misfits to help the Hulk against the government oppressors. They should have Agent Simmons from Sector Seven make a cameo.

Thoughts?
I saw this and was like... wtf? didn't they just have a hulk movie not 4-5 years ago?
I have been a fan of edward norton and the trailer had a different feel to it than eric bana's hulk movie that i only vaguely remember because it was that good.

Ed Norton as Bruce Banner doesn't fit for me.

I'm sure Ed will do a good job. Someone told me it's going to be connected to Iron Man in some way. If true, that would be cool.
Why do they have to use so much fake looking CGI nowadays? I srsly agree with Ani, they should just paint someone. And what's up with that cliche ass kiss? I have an idea! The hero -doesn't- fall in love! That would throw Hollywood in for a loop.

They're throwing hints over all these movies to setup the Avengers movie. There's another Thor movie coming up if not mistaken also, and an Ant-Man movie too. I think I've heard Captain America too.

From what I heard these movies are supposed to be more like their "Ultimate" Marvel versions. So, if they're making the Hulk more dark, that would fit in line with the ultimate Hulk, who at some point eats people out of rage!

So, anyone seen it yet? I went to watch it last night and I really liked it. Was expecting better though, but that's simply nitpicking. I though it had plenty of action, and I really liked how they handled the Hulk character (many times Cloverfield-like).
Best part of the movie is the final scene though... looking forward to more.

i saw it on saturday, thought it was pretty great, THOUGH i thought the hulk character was portrayed too weak, the first hulk film was actually better at showing hulk's strength.

I also liked this one...in fact I liked it way more than the Ang Lee one, because the Hulk's size and stuff were kind in inconsistent. Although not perfect, I think this one is superior to the other one, especially with the little things they showed that you probably only picked up if you're a fan of the comics or the Hulk in general (like Betty buying those purple pants)
Also...Betty was a freak!

Looks like The Leader will be showing up in the sequel. I was also hoping to see the scene with Banner talking to a shrink (probably the boyfriend), but it didn't make the cut apparently. Loved the Stan Lee scene, and how about that Stanley's Pizzeria? That made me laugh for a bit.
I think the Hulk's strength was portrayed just fine.
Also looking forward to Ant-Man and Thor to keep setting up the Avengers' storyline.

I thought it was pretty good. Formulaic as far as Marvel movies go. They're reasonably entertaining but there's not a lot of surprises in these movies. This was enjoyable but didn't really jump out as memorable.
Going back on what I said however, there was that one surprise at the end (a certain cameo I won't mention) that I hadn't heard about, and was glad I didn't because it was nice to be surprised. Quite exciting considering upcoming movies and events.

I liked how they paced the movie though... I think they kept the Hulk as mysterious as they really could. I was looking forward more to the sequel of this one than to how this one would develop, since I didn't expect anything else than re-introducing the characters and stories.
I also enjoyed how they presented Banner's past to the audience, and didn't waste too much time on it.

I saw it yesterday. I thought it was a pretty decent movie. The action and the special effects were amazing. The acting and story wasn't all that great, but who cares, it was pretty enjoyable. It was no Iron Man, but I would still recommend it
Also, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark showing up at the end was pretty cool. I was expecting this when they showed documents with Stark Enterprise letterheads at the very beginning.

I watched this on Saturday and it was alright. I didn't like it as much as Iron Man, but then again, Iron Man set the bar pretty high.

Man I still have to see Iron Man. But I saw this movie last Friday. Compared to the 2003(I think) film, this one blew it away. Hulk actually fights someone in this one. The story starts pretty slow, but it all builds up to the fight with Abomination and it just made it al the better. This fight was so epic.
I believe they are making a Captain American movie as well... I also looked up Thor and I saw 2010???!?
I hope it's not going to take like 5 years for The Avengers to come out.... They shuold do it quickly... Everyone is getting old!!

Saw this last Thursday with 2 of my cousins and I would say it was pretty good. I enjoyed watching it almost as much as I enjoyed watching Iron Man, which we watched right after. I had already seen Iron Man a while back and it set the bar pretty high. Norton did a good job but I still couldn't see him as Bruce Banner whereas Downey Jr really fit the Tony Stark character.
