Based on a light novel series by Sanda Makoto, illustrated by pako.

Due to his father`s disappearance, Itsuki Iba has to take over the family business: a magician dispatch service. Their family basically employs countless magicians and other supernatural beings in order to send them out to help those who need magical assistance. As a leader, Itsuki now has to be tough, commanding, and reliable, but there`s one problem, he`s a coward. Also, in order to run a successful business, he has to connect with his employees, which is more difficult than it seems due to his personality. But not only does he have to deal with his own employees, he also has to deal with those who threaten the family business.

Eh, somewhat interesting but same old same old really. Magical girls with crushes they don't admit, pussy main character with dangerous hidden power, loli, stoic, rinse repeat. I don't really see much potential, but who knows.

This was pretty weak. Though the little bit of romance jealousy between the English girl and the Kansai-ben girl was decent.

She had a kansai-ben? Damn I still can't pick that out. Guess I should watch even more anime.

Eh, it was pretty obvious at the beginning fight when she was introduced zooming after the main character on her broom. She says Mou Nigasahen (I won't let you get away) and Nanya. Though, I can see how it would be able to think she isn't one since there's a lot of Kanto dialect in there. I'm not sure if the VA does a poor job of emulating the accent, or the character herself has only a bit.

Damn, I was going to download this, but I can't take more coward main characters anymore, for a while at least. Even if they become decent during the series it's always the same gritting of teeth on my part during the beginning of the series, barely tolerating it.

I'd rather need another Kaze no Stigma...

I think, given that the girl from Goetia is in a school uniform (I think), that Ep3 takes place after episode 1, and not before it, like episode 2.

It has come to my attention that this show is extremely derivative and shows no signs of stepping even slightly off the beaten path of "worthless but well-meaning guy gets thrust into a position of authority over several (generically) eccentric characters, most of whom like him despite his flaws and some of whom harbor thinly veiled romantic attraction to him." They've gone for the magic option which means the lead gets a dangerous secret power, but otherwise it looks like a mad lib plot with character and place names filled in

Foresight:
Episodic adventures will ensue and an evil organization will subtly make it's presence known. Former rivals will become allies in the face of the threat posed by the evil organization. The guy will grow in some way under the tutelage of the girl who secretly likes him but acts more like a mentor instead. The other eccentric characters will have an episode or two focusing on them and revealing their back story, these backstories may be related to the overall evil organization plot but are just as likely to be completely unrelated. In the end the evil organization will be dealt a major defeat which will show they you can't mess with the organization lead by the now more capable lead character.

Yea, but that's not necessarily a bad thing Yuki. I mean, I occasionally like to see a ground-breaking anime, but sometimes I just want to relax with the formulaic stuff. I mean, it got to be standard because that's what a lot of people like to watch in an anime.
(Please note, I didn't see anything in your post that said that you didn't want to watch a formulaic anime, I just thought I'd branch the conversation off in that direction).

Oh, and half of the fun of these formulaic animes is figuring out what the special power that the lead character gets is. I mean, we know that it's the guy's "demon" eye, but what does it do? I originally thought it might just penetrate through magic, and give him a clearer picture of the situation (such as seeing through the magic fog in Ep1 and being able to tell where the attacks were coming from), but in this newest episode, the little girl (still blanking on names this early in the series) seems concerned as to what would happen if he looked at a God with that eye.

Lol, you managed to get me somewhat interested in the show again with only a few sentences. Anyway I don't usually mind formula either (Busou Renkin FTW) but for some reason this one bugged me more than normal and I felt the need to point out the general anime plot mad libs. But as with all formulaic shows it really is all about the implementation.

I liked Celtic girl b/c she has a broom and a witches hat, and the guy with the cats should be worth a laugh or two. Plus there's the ever ready tsundere element so maybe it's not going to be so bad after all, even if the story is predictable the details can still make it interesting. Like playing Doom through a second time with cheats.

Anyone still watching this? I picked this up recently and found out it wasn't that bad actually. The earlier episodes skipped around (all the backflashes made it a bit confusing), but everything seemed to settle down around the 10th episode.

The main character is actually changing over the course of the series so its fairly interesting.

Yeah I'm still watching this and I found it to be much the same the first group of episodes is just character introduction and its seemingly random at that but the later episodes have all been quite good. Unfortunately its a hard series to really discuss while there is overall growth most of its episodic leaving little to really talk about after each episode. Still I'd recommend anyone who liked this even a little in the start really gives it another chance because it is worth watching.

What's the worst (or best) thing that happens in this series s3xually? My little cousin's into wizards and magic, and he wants this anime. I've downloaded it, but haven't watched it yet. He's quite young, so I don't know what his parents would think of when they see him watching a guy get chested in the face. He likes vampires too, but I'm not about to burn him R+V.

Well I wouldn't swear to it because I don't really recall everything but there isn't a high amount of sexual content in this series at all worst thing is likely two girls getting "married" and it feeling rather nice for them. Still I would be more cautious about the violence then the sexual content.
