The TV series should be out soon, but a group called Genjo released an OVA:
http://a.scarywater.net/genjo-subs/%5BGenjo%5D_Kodomo_no_Jikan_OVA_2007_%5Bh264%5D%5B 128DDE21%5D.mkv.torrent

Not sure about the content of the OVA, but it may have some spoilerish material for the TV series, but who knows... I don't think it matters much anyways.

Based on the seinen manga by Watashiya Kaworu, serialised in Comic High!. NOT related to the other Kodomo no Jikan by Goto Akira!

It`s the cute ones you`ve gotta watch out for...

23-year old school teacher Aoki Daisuke has a huge problem. One of his precocious 3rd Grade students, Kokonoe Rin, has the hots for him?! Yes, mischievous Rin has proclaimed herself to be Daisuke-sensei`s girlfriend and is now on a warpath to win him over or cause him to lose his job...whichever comes first!
Besides Rin, Daisuke`s got other problems to take care of -- one of the students in his class, Mimi (one of Rin`s friends), hasn`t been attending school recently.

Here's a description from the manga:

Taken from Matthew's Anime Blog:
Daisuke is a 23 year-old new schoolteacher. He ends up being put in charge of a 3rd grade elementary school class since the previous teacher quit, and in that class there's a girl who's quite a troublemaker--Rin Kokonoe. You could call her a masegaki (used to describe a kid that acts more like an adult in some ways), and she's also part tsundere (though more dere than tsun).

Seven Seas has canceled Kodomo no Jikan's (Nymphet) licensing due to some so-called "disturbing" content. Read about it on Matt's blog.

This is one of the rare mangas I've been reading. Pretty outrageous stuff, and this ova, true to ova traditions, goes all out. What comes to the plot of the ova, it uses basically one chapter of the manga as a core and then alters and mixes in some random elements. The core chapter is not from the very beginning of the manga but a little along the way.

You could say this ova gives an impression of what the whole thing is like, and it reveals at least as much as the manga and most certainly more than the tv series will. This isn't a spoiler sensitive story at least in the beginning and while this ova perhaps reveals what kind of material and relationships you are dealing with, I couldn't honestly claim it would really spoil anything at all.

The OVA is a good cross-section of what the series is like. I assume we'll see more censorship in Kokonoe's panty flashes in the real series.

It also hit on most of the characters personalities quite well, and if you're paying attention carefully, you'll see some of the major issues that the girls and the other characters have. I won't blatantly point out any of them here, that can wait for the series to do them better. You might not catch all of them if you haven't read some of the manga. It's the real depth of the series, and puts Kodomo no Jikan well above the likes of Moetan, Dokuro-chan, other other perverted lolicon series.

The TV Saitama station in Japan has explained in a statement on October 11 that it suspended its broadcast of the controversial Kodomo no Jikan (Nymphet) television anime series "out of consideration for the community in light of the [alleged] solicitation of children by an elementary school vice-principal in Sapporo and other incidents." The Sapporo arrest is unrelated to the recent, alleged axe assault incidents by minors that caused stations to preempt the School Days and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai anime series.

The Kodomo no Jikan anime series is based on a manga of the same name that was created by Kaworu Watashiya and serialized in Futabasha's Comic High manga magazine. It tells the story of three elementary schoolgirls, one of whom has a crush on their new teacher. This one girl in particular puts the teacher in many embarassing situations with her unsubtle advances.

The TV Saitama and Mie TV stations both announced that they will suspend or delay their broadcasts of Kodomo no Jikan. KBS Kyoto and Chiba TV are currently still planning to premiere the program on early Friday morning and early Saturday morning, respectively.

54-year-old Takayuki Hosoda, a vice-principal of an elementary school in the northern Japanese city of Sapporo, was arrested on October 1 on suspicion of soliciting obscene behavior from a 16-year-old girl for 6,000 yen (about US$50.00) on the evening of September 21, after meeting her in a "deai-kei cafe." He is also accused of shooting obscene photographs and movies of about 600 girls. A deai-kei cafe or deai cafe ("cafe for encounters") is a business designed to introduce potential partners to each other in booths. The suspect allegedly contributed his material to magazines from 2000 to 2007, and received about 18,000,000 yen (US$150,000) in compensation. Sapporo's board of education ordered the vice-principal's disciplinary dismissal on October 10.

Ho... I can't say I'd be terribly surprised, considering this stuff probably would never get aired in the first place in the West, but still, it's kind of weird they would use the money to buy a series and then not air it. Kind of risque fiscal policy. Maybe the times are unsure even in Japan. People don't really know what is ok and what is not before they test the public reaction in practice.

So, does anybody have any ideas about possible subbers? This series would require the most lolicon subber ever, but we know those exist.

Ryllharu

I believe Triad expressed interest in subbing this at one time. They have several lolicon members, it's the reason they started doing Nanoha. Sadly, they lost a lot of their reputation with the poor way they handled dropping StrikerS for Bokurano. They've probably backed off as well.

Genjo did the OVA, did a pretty good job, and had announced plans to sub the series, but we don't know where they stand now.

With all the press it's getting, at least someone should start getting interested.

EDIT: Checked Triad's site, their current plans are to wait for the uncensored dvds.

Well, as long as it comes out eventually, it'll be ok. I can wait.

By the sound of things, waiting is definitely the better choice. It's apparently censored more than Hayate the Combat Butler is, but not in the funny way. Cellphone rings of all things covering up the audio, and frequent obnoxious panels censoring the video.

Perhaps not as bad as Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny putting a huge blue smear on the screen to block everything, but certainly obtrusive.

The censoring was really stupid. Suddenly some nonsensical image covers the whole screen for the duration of a whole scene, leaving you confused what the heck is going on. There were also partial screen censoring but at least with those you still could gather what it was that happened.

Well, like Aoki-sensei said himself, there's nothing to see there, but I think I'll wait for the uncensored dvd versions. I wouldn't have minded some more intelligent editing but the whole screen censoring pissed me off. It was equivalent to some encoding error that would have made the video disappear for a while, only leaving the audio. It seriously broke the pace of the show, not to mention the comedy of the scenes.

Ryllharu
Fri, 10-19-2007, 06:32 AM
Definitely. I'll be waiting for the supposed Triad's version (or someone else's versions) off the dvds.

Even if the censoring in Hayate was purposeful and intentional, it still broke the pace of the episode, this is even worse.

Wow that censoring was preposterous. Nice how they didn't censor Kokonoe's half naked upper body after they changed for PE, but they had that huge ginormous rolling shit censor on some words in a notebook.

Kraco

Aye, as well as the kanji lesson censoring. That was certainly the craziest target of censoring I've ever seen. It was like a poor joke (which it really might have been...).

Ryllharu
Fri, 10-19-2007, 02:06 PM
Well if you really want to know what it said, she originally wrote "Hope" like the rest of the class, and after, added a phrase changing the meaning to "I hope...for you to ejaculate inside me."

At least in the manga anyway. So...you can see why it is (and should be) censored.

Kraco
Fri, 10-19-2007, 03:14 PM
Well, maybe I just don't believe in censoring text. I didn't anymore remember what it said in the manga, though. So, I guess it was then a justified censoring target (if you go down the road of censoring text).

Seems really funny as well as kind of sweet, but the censoring makes it not worth it. I'll wait for the DVD's.

Anon released the first two eps encoded from the DVD source. Needless to say, the outrageous censoring is missing and the series works.

Episode 1 DVD - Anon (http://www.datorrents.com/download.asp?id=31147&name=%5BAnon%5D%20Kodomo%20no%20Jikan%20-%2001%20DVD.mkv.torrent)

Some other version might be good for archiving, who knows. But for now these are available.

Why did Anon censor the subs? The words are no longer bleeped, and I know...enough Japanese to figure out what words are missing. The series does a fairly good job at following the manga dialogue.

Perhaps they are working off an old script where it's all bleeped out still. Then again, all the signs (explicit or otherwise) also remain untranslated.

EDIT: I don't really want to nitpick (they're the only ones doing it so far), but waiting for the dvd releases was the entire point. The censorship destroys all the impact. The girls just come off "cheeky" instead of "disturbingly wrong."

Yeah. That's basically why I said I would desire still another version for archiving purposes. It's counterproductive that when we finally got an uncensored video, then a subber group decides to do its own censoring. Why did they even bother to wait for the DVD version in that case? Or do they have a translator who blushes too badly when he/she tries to write those words..?

The third bottle of distilled outrageousness:

Episode 3 (DVD) - S.S.S. (http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=download&tid=11683)

Well, the group calls itself "Suck Suck Subs" so you can draw your own conclusions about the level of workmanship. However, in my opinion it was perfectly understandable.

Cool i love this anime lol.

If you dont really want to download the eps you can watch them all here including the uncensored version already made by suck suck subs:

The quality is quite good but it will probably be removed soon since the anime is licenced.

Not the first one featuring the 3 of them in Rin's house?

yeah, there's a lot of different ovas out, and that's the second.

the first one is them at rins house
the second one (that one) is like an hour long or something, and it's a summary of the first season.
then the third one just came out, and it's the story about kagame and shirai's friendship or whatever.
and then theres' the.. what like 3 or so ovas that are going to be released as the second term/sequel to the anime.

i didn't really think too much of the first two. like, they were good, but i guess having read the manga i already knew everything, and so it was just like the show, only i had seen it all before.

but man, the third one i thought wrapped it up so well. it seemed like such a complete episode. like every character got their own time. and then it had a great ending. so overall, it was a pretty good 'second season' i guess. the kuro-chan and shiro-chan ova was definitely my favorite ova. if only because shirai is my favorite character :\
