Here's a series I want to check out when it comes out. I think it starts around October, and it's from the mangaka of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Here's a promo for it:

This description may contain some spoilers, but it should all be revealed in the first episode anyways, so don't worry too much.

A period piece, Jūshin Enbu features Taitou, a young man who hates the empire that rules at the time, with his sister Laila as they learn of a mysterious power Taitou holds, unbeknown st to him. Taitou is the incarnation of a mysterious star that grants him a huge amount of power that he has yet to fully master. Joining them is Ryuukou, who has power similar to Taitou, just more honed.

After Taitou`s coming of age ceremony, which required him being beaten by Ryuukou, he is given the Kenkaranpu, described as a conqueror`s sword, which Taitou is not even capable of drawing. Soon after, he and Laila are greeted by a man named Shimei, who wanted to take the sword. After a quick exchange of blows, Shimei explains the source of Taitou`s power, the star Hagun, one of the most powerful Hokushin-Tenkun. When Shimei uses his own sword`s power to cause Laila to stop breathing, Taitou becomes so angry he releases Hagun`s power, draws Kenkaranpu and pins Shimei to the wall by throwing the sword through his stomach. He then turns to Ryuukou and attacks.

Despite his best efforts, Ryuukou could not overcome Hagun`s power. It was only a resuscitated Laila`s intervention (along with a nasty head butt) that brought Taitou to his senses. However, they all soon learn that Shimei had escaped with the sword.

At midnight, Taitou sneaks out to recover the sword. As he is leaving Ryuukou and Laila quickly join him on his journey.

Taitou, a young man living in ancient China, is the prophesied seventh star of the Hokuto (Big Dipper ). He must travel with his sister Laila and his friend Ryuukou to retrieve a sword and discover his destiny.

Sounds good. I'll have to keep my eyes open for this one.

That's not a very good description, though, but I suppose you found no more appropriate one.

Yeah, the other one I found is very vague... When I stumble across a better one I will change it. That's pretty much describing the first chapter of the manga.

I wanted to read the rest of the manga but ZOMGFTA only released 2 chapters. Seems like they've been going downhill recently with the rate at which they're going with their FMA chapters too.

How's Kuro Hana's subbing quality these days? Any ideas of other subber groups interested in this series? There are quite a few groups around these days, but for some reason the lion's share of them seems to sub the same few series.

I'm not aware of any group of substance that will be doing this series at the moment, so might as well get this version.

Saw 1st episode by Kuro Hana (i like their background TL notes). Nice episode, 80% similar to Full Metal Alchemist with character designs and without alchemies all action is martial arts. Beginning is different from manga ( in manga sword was passed down in family instead of being guarded in temple). This series is the must watch if you like FMA.

Um, wasn't Laila supposed to be the older sister in the manga? I don't think they said at all whether she was his younger sister or the fact that they weren't related even. And yeah, the beginnings a lot different.

Yep, looks like they are going for an anime original. I hate the VA's for Taitou and Laila, but we'll see where this takes us. The first fight was pretty good though.

Finally a shounen martial arts/action show for this season, looks worth at least a few more downloads.

Aye. This didn't look bad. Good old shounen action / adventure.

Some spineless villains, though...

Seemed like a decent anime so far. Seemed like many of the action series were more about magic this season and personally so far they didn't seem that interesting, but this one seemed at least worth trying out for more episodes.

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit meh about this series so far.... however, I think I'll watch a bit longer to see if they'll add some more depth to it and make it a bit more interesting. The hero annoys me, as does the archery kid, but I think this new character they introduced who made off with all the treasure has potential to be interesting. We'll see.

whoa... not much conversation going on here?

at any rate... i'm on episode 11 and i find the show pretty interesting. i wouldn't say that it picked up from the beginning but you get to really like and care for the characters... also... they reached the capital now

Edit... well picked up it did... episode 12 was pretty interesting (so many things happened!)... and seems 13 will be awesome!

Aye. This turned out to be quite a decent series. The plot tastes a bit scripted but it's otherwise interesting enough. The characters aren't bad, either.
