As I stated in my intro post I do some Anime art, I figure I should actually make my post here in the Fanart thread.

Mostly Anime, both original and fanart, plus non-Anime series but done in the Anime style.

First off, as it is nearly close to summer time, here's a couple of beach drawings(note this is not an Anime series):

Though I couldn't draw if my life depended on it, but from what I can see, you are pretty good at it. Nice and clean lines and designs. I hope you will post some more anime/manga inspired next time. And uhh... I'm no racist but the blue colour also kind of puts me off... The backgrounds look far more hurried and less impressive than the girl, though.

good job with the contours of the human body. The face looks a little scrambled in the second one, but that's fine. As you try different characters with different noses, lips, facial structures etc., you'll be able to do a standard face like hers in no time.

The texture of the sand and sky is good enough, though the water in the second one is way too choppy. Not much to say on backgrounds. Be good to see other stuff, sketches, whatever. Also, Deadfire started a new site revolving around art, photoshop (making untalented fools like me look semi-decent) or hand-drawn or whatever. www.AshiftingPerspective.com I encourage you to join.

As for the backgrounds, they look hurried... mostly as they were. I was not really too fussed at the time, so I just put something what looked reasonable.

Keep it up; like Kraco said, you've got talent and the only way to develop is practice, practice, practiceWell, those were done just over 2 and a half years ago, so they should look a little rough(I was not fully up to scratch with Photoshop at that time), plus I finished colouring around 5am, so tiredness might have made my quality slip just a tad.

I don't really like the style you got going there, but you do know how to draw that's for sure, also you seem to color using very "sharp" coloring, try some more subtleness, softer colors.
Kinda like the girl in your sig, or the girl in kraco's sig.

As for the castle scene, I was just colouring it quickly, as my examiners wanted some of my work in colour, so I gave it some. It's originally a storyboard frame (9:3 ratio), but like I said, I had to add some colour, so that was the result.

I didn't like the colouring of the character, but that's being changed in the final version, so just excuse it here!(remember, I was just colouring as quick as could)

Oh yeh, your question... I sketch pencil to paper, then if I colour it on my computer, I go over the lines with the line tool in my P6 program.

LOL, yeh, I did notice it looked that way, I did try to keep in the same position when I was moving the Gundam, but it's very difficult to remain in the exact same place each time... won't happen next time though ;)

Next time, you'l see the same Gundam break-dancing to DJ Devon's 'Bomb Up The Jungle'... it's gonna be fun :D

Clearly you're pretty good at shading and stuff, but I honestly can't stand the way you're drawing your faces or bodies/poses. They're extremely flat compared to everything else in your pictures. Do you ever practice working on proportion and depth or practice them from different points of view?

Edit: lulz. Looks like you'll have a nice template if you wanna color these.

To explain the way I'm having to do this, chapter 1 is entirely my own thinking, it what happens before they go to the amusement park(which nobody ever knew). Chapter 2 is essentially the intro sequence of the first series, but with the additions of my own doing, to at least make it flow better for the pages. I've changed a few things around, but much of C2 is as it appears in the series, this is as a fan favor.(as in to jog peoples memories) Hope that last bit answers your question... a little, it's the missing pages that would show you my twists better.

The characters, the intro sequence, the general theme, no, is not my own.... oh yeh, I just read back, I only posted the page and said nothing else, my bad. The whole thing is based on the show from the 80s(the whole point), which I should have explained on the first posting of that page, but after chapter 2, it will all be down to my story telling and my artistic values.(asides from the issues that will be written by a few members of the fan forum)

Yes the pages aren't as good as the others, I was brand-new at this type of thing at the time(Manga drawing)

I should point out, that I was never trained to draw Manga's of any kind, plus, I only have 6 really old Manga's, so not much research material. I was trained as an animator, so this type of thing was and in many ways still is, very alien to me!

Just realised.... even without me telling anyone the title of the source series, you figured it out by the images on the pages, which is one of my ultimate aims. So thanks for confirming the things I was after.

i like it quite a bit, especially the top portion. The bottom panel seems to be a little... I dunno, maybe you could get the surrounding dragons to be a little more distinctive from the surrounding fire? It's hard to tell where the dragons end and the fire/background begins. Well, it's not that tough, but maybe some more shading would help.

I'm having to juggle the speech of the original opening sequence as well as incorporate it in with my own text. This part of the chapter is closely linked with that sequence so I have to include the original speech, but the start of this issue, it's all the text I came up with myself and gives a good example of how the speech will be portrayed for the rest of the coming series... well, when I upload it all you will see ;)

Though for now, another pic, again another contest entry... a follow-up to my previous beach scene featuring the Totally Spies girls and I did learn from my mistake of last time, with not positioning the characters in a weird place on my paper so I run out of space!

Looks good, seems you are steadily improving; some points:
·Could use some more shading
·Make the colours softer

-if you still want to use those hard colours, get rid of those really sharp highlights; like this:

·Compared to her knee, her left foot seems to be turned left a bit too much
·The sword seems to be going through her hair, that's just odd; the sword should be pushing the hair aside.
The next 2 points are just to make the overall presentation better:
·The bg just clashes too much
·Her shadow just comes across as lazy

You haven't had a reply in a long time, so I hope these points help you :).

The colours were taken directly from an animation cel, so the colours are as is (same with the BG), though the shading is the least I have ever put on a figure, I can do something about the foot, that's no problem. Lastly, the shadow was lazy, it was 9:44am and I had been working through the night... I was tired and just wanted to finish!

Ignore the ground shadow, I'll redo that when I can be bothered, as it's not really that important, but is this a little better:
