This game had been announced years ago.. but there wasn't any real info or media on it for the longest time. I searched the forums here and didn't see a thread... sooo..... here's the trailer from the '07 Jump Festa. Really nice looking for PSP, looks on par with the KH series.

Release date is still "TBA 2007" but I wouldn't expect it any earlier than LATE Q4, if it's out this year at all.

Yes! Finally some decent media/info about the game, I've been waiting for it. Looks great.
This is the reason I'm probably gonna save money for a PSP.

Looks like a good game, but I don't know if this and FFT are enough to get me to buy a PSP.

Look good, but too bad for me it is on the PSP. (Can't they just make a home console/PC version of it with better graphics?)
So basically this game is like.. what came before the FF7 story that we all know?

What's with Square-Enix releasing FF7 storyline games with only the obscure characters? First we have Dirge of Cerebus, which follows the story of a completely optional character, and now they're making a game with Zack in it.

The game itself looks pretty decent, and the graphics are amazing for PSP, but... meh... talk about milking an idea for all its worth...

I agree is being milked too much, but hey, as long as is not AS bad as DoC

Actually, I don't think Zack should be considered an "obscure" character at all. In fact, if it wasn't for him, we probably wouldn't've had an FF7 in the first place. Wasn't Cloud, our protagonist, confused about his personality with this very same man? Zack is the character I was most interested about, more than anyone else because it was his person who Cloud's journey in VII was based on. And now with the upcoming game we get to learn more about his life, the guy who actually had a major part in FF7 without taking much of the credit.

I do agree, however, that they went a little too far in milking the franchise with DoC. That or they could've just done the entire game better. But I am most excited about Crisis Core; to finally get a glance at how the first game came about.

With only ten days for the Japanese to enjoy this game, and with a rumored March release for America (ouch)...

I've pre-ordered it an expect it to be shipped out on the 14th. Although I don't speak much Japanese, I can still bask in its glory and drool over how amazing it will be.

This is basically my only current reason to get a PSP aside from being able to play PS1 games on it :p

I've been trying desperately to remind my brother to get his PSP to me from his girlfriend's brother, but he always keeps on forgetting or misses the chance to get it back from him. D: And I'm really worried that I won't have it before the game arrives. At this point, I don't even know if he's gonna get it back at all, which means I may have to get my own PSP. But I definitely would now since I have a friggin' game coming for it.

I have PSP, the main reasons I got it for was 1. Crisis Core, 2. MGS-Portable Ops, and 3. ability to play PSX games on it. Aside from these reasons, the other games are not very up to standard imo.

So, I just finished Crisis Core, and that seriously had to be the saddest ending in video game history. I was crying my eyes out.

Crisis Core sold 350,000 copies on the first day. It should hopefully be the second PSP title to reach 1mil copies in Japan.

I'm guessing the first would be Monster Hunter Freedom 2, which sold more copies on the first day than CC even.

I forgot about MHF2, only remembering 1 for some reason. So ummm yea hopefully it will become the third million seller :).

Is there like a PSP emulator I could possibly play crisis core on?

There is one, but it's made by Sony and only distributed to game-developers. Though, I'm not sure if it's real even. It's a shame if it's real, that there hasn't been a leak yet.

You must really need a mean machine to emulate the PSP. I tried emulating Phoenix Wright for the DS and it lags to all hell sometimes.

crisis core is eating up 1.2 gb of my 4gb pro duo ;) i only played it for a few minutes to test it out, the intro was amazing and the gameplay made me think of dirge of cerebrus. too bad i'm not unemployed or something.. then i would get to play it. (i can't read jap either... )

Unfortunately I got the PSP a little too late, and now classes are taking up most of my Crisis Core game play time, but what I've played through so far has exceeded my expectations, and I absolutely love it. I haven't even scratched the surface yet, so when the ball starts rolling I think I'll love it even more. ^^

i fear im getting too old to appreciate games like this, as i dont have endless hours to devote to laying around gaming.

so you've been playing through on the japanese version? i hope you understand the plot and what not.

Luckily I've got translations, so yes, I understand the plot. And I can understand a bit of Japanese (though not much), but it helps.

Just completed the game. Great game, perhaps the best RPG on the PSP so far. A little short though, and the ending definately makes you want to replay FFVII all over again. I'm planning on starting my new game +, to clear my remaining missions.

Zack's coming back!

In another game of course: Square Enix's PSP RPG Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Check out screens here (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0712/game071231c.shtml). Zack's my fave character since I loved Crisis Core, and I'm looking foward to his appearance in the Kingdom Heart series.

Dude... that is not Zack. That guy is called Terra, and is one of the keyblade knights in the Birth by Sleep secret ending of Kingdom Hearts 2.

Really? Damnit. He looks just like Zack, and I thought it would be the best opportunity to bring Zack into the KH series. :(

I have already finished the game in the Japanese version, so I just picked this up for the heck of it. But after playing only like the first 10 minutes or so, the voices are really annoying me.

Well i'm currently playing it and i've got to say i'm very impressed with it.

The graphics are... crazy good and the story, well it's ff7 all over again! I'll post my definitive opinion on this game after i complete it.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just had to post.

I just beat the game today and damn...that ending...it was so sad. I knew Zack was going to die but that ending just really hit me. Even that last battle with all the Shinra soldiers and watching everyone he met disappear from the DMW was saddening. Then the letters that Aerith sent and the promise he'd never be able to keep with her and then just watching Cloud lug the Buster Sword all the way to Midgar just got to me. :(

But overall, Crisis Core was a fantastic game. Really makes me want to replay FF7 again. I'm glad I bought a PSP, for this game alone to see Zack's story was worth it.

Yeah it's awesome and I really want to play FF7 all over again too, but I don't think I can get back to PS1 graphics after how Crisis Core has spoilt us with those beautiful CG videos. I bought the FFVII:CC Ultimania, as well as the anniversary ultimania books (separated to the Scenario volume and the Characters volume) a while back, but still no time to read through yet....

I finished it some days ago...

I kept waiting for Cissnei to arrive and recover Zack's corpse :(
