Is it just me, or does the OP have no sound?
Nice ep, although I was hoping that the healing wouldn't take the whole episode. But It shows for the first time in about 260 episodes that Sakura was really usefull...and that is quite fresh..
Next ep looks like is gonna kick some major butt..

Good ep, i was hoping they'd finaly make sakura useful instead of keeping her as the useless sidekick who does nothing but get in the way. The only thing that buged me was that despite the fact that she was the focus of the episode, they did a shitty job of animating her. I mean half the time they made her face look like a man. If you don't know what i'm talking about, check out 10:02 in the episode for an example.

All in all it was a pretty good episode, what it lacked in action it made up in advancing the storyline. The white fang reference really made me pissed that they haven't removed spoiler...

i was kind of hoping that the whole episode wouldn't be about sakura but it turned out alright. i liked the technique she used to get rid of the poison. i thought it was pretty clever and certainly not something that the old lady had thought to do.
this episode was more of buildup for the next episode. at least now we understand why kankuro clipped off the piece of sasori's mask. kakashi has the ninja dogs trying to find them. the preview for the next episode looks like there's going to be some serious action...kisame and itachi :)

Yeahhhhh nicely done episode!
I hope we learn more about Kakashi's father because I'm sure it has left everyone thinking "ZOMG HOW DOES KAKASHI'S FATHER LOOK LIEK!?"
Anyways... Can't wait for next episode... We see Kisame and Itachi again!

Liked the episode. Really likes Sakura's healing technique. I like how it was complicated and explained out instead of just "glowing chakra hand makes heals!" I always like it when they explain out jutsus.
ZOMG HOW DOES KAKASHI'S FATHER LOOK LIEK!?Like a two-eyed Kakashi?

Good episode, it managed to progress the story nicely and also to introduce Sakura's new found utility. The strength was cool, but lets face it, Sakura's probably still not fast enough or skilled enough to land many blows on the kinds of villains we usually see in the Narutoverse.

I thought the animators had lost their minds for a second until I realized that there are actually 3 dimensions in Naruto too.

Do you suppose said son would also happen to be Sasori's dad?

She said The white fang killed her son. So.. I think that's enough to hate him
I also think there's a great possibility that it's also the father of Sasori, otherwise an uncle.
Just when I posted a question in the topic from ep 8-9 about the piece of clothe, it suddenly became very clear to me why. :D
Good anticipating.
The new version has the song in it?
From the Dattebayo page:
We didn't bother calling this a V2 as only 300 people had complete copies by the time this was noticed

I don't think it was Sasori's dad that was killed by Kakashi's dad.

Despite the lack of action, I think it was a pretty good episode. The "White Fang" part is interesting (although it wasn't really a surprise that it was Kakashi's father).
Can't wait until next episode.

Yep, its looks like we are going to have a school fight on our hands, courtesy of a family feud.
It looks as though Gaara's exorcism will be interrupted, as Kisame and Itachi are going to have to fight. Gaara might be saved after all!

I think so.....because Sasori is Chiyo's grandson, and so Sasori's dad would be Chiyo's son. Its quite possible. And judging from how pissed of Chiyo is...and how much she wants to see her grandson like its her last family member alive. i think its alluded she may have only one son.

I was expecting this episode to suck giant nipples, (I'm a Sakura beater) but even with Sakura healing throughout the entire episode, it was pretty decent.

i dunno, i wasn't wild for this episode or anything...
First, I know Tsunade's teh 1337 haXorz Phoenix Down/X-Potion medical ninja, and that Sakura is her protegee, but something about a teenage girl being better at medicine than an ancient, experienced doctor like Chiyo... Well, god is in the machine, and he make 'a you the fresh plot stretch pie!
Why did Chiyo just get kicked out of the medical room after Sakura came in, but Baki and Temari stayed? And no restraints to hold Kank down? No wonder he almost died, the Sand's got ghetto medicare.
I did think the technique Sakura used was pretty cool though. Looks like it's chakra control again, which she rocks at. And for as cool as it looked, it was actually very simple: use water (or whatever that solution was) to extract the poison from the body. Not exactly rocket science here, I mean, it's in like every movie/show when a person gets bit by a snake/scorpion (who you'd imagine Sasori imitates in his style, hence his calling card, the red scorpion). I'm sorta surprised Chiyo didn't try some kind of extraction treatment, but I guess she was focused on making an anti-drug or something along those lines.
It'd be common sense to figure that Chiyo -> her son (who was killed by White Fang) -> his son Sasori. But I know sometimes people here struggle with advanced thinking problems such as this...
I'm intrigued about Kakashi's father. That was the best part of the episode for me.
"We have time to just hang around... talk about our emotions" ... not an actual quote, I'd love for someone to know what I'm refering to here. I spare you further disparaging over the emotional content of this episode, though I suppose it's nice to see more of how Kank views Naruto vis-a-vis his brother.

The thing about Chiyo is that I think she is just a Poison Expert, not a medic-nin, that is why she didn't do what Sakura did.
chambers
Fri, 04-27-2007, 02:33 PM
yeah i pretty much agree with RyougaZell, chiyo is a poison specialist, she may know how to counteract many poisons but removing them would be the domain of a doctor....
i think its kinda weird that the sand didnt have any true meidcal ninja who can perform this kind of technique.....
but also im getting kinda worried abotu the blurring of power lines at the moment, i mean we have ranks to at least make a vague guess at the stregnth of each ninja, but now neji is the same rank as kakashi right? naruto didnt just beat neji with raw power, he completely out foxed him (forgive the pun) now are we to belive that naruto is even remotley on the same level as kakashi? Also linking with akatski itachi pretty much owned kakashi the last time and i think it would be safe to assume that all the members are of similar power levels, eg above jounin so how are we to believe that the ninjas konoha sent out even stand a chance against the opposition, even if greater numbers may be an issue, its clear to see that in terms of power gaara dwarfs both rock and neji and could more than likley crush them within a heartbeat, but gaara got beaten by somone who was hodling back against him.... and not to mention HE calls sasori master so we have to assume that sasori>deidara......and since clearly deidara is stronger and smarter than gaara we have to assume that sasori is stronger than both kakashi and guy, and deidara is at least the same....
i dunno maybe im thinking too much along the "power levels" bollocks of DBZ and other shonen anime, and maybe i shoudl think of it more like well neji is hand to hand combat and gaara is kinda the anti-hand to hand guy... so he beats neji.. more like rock paper scissors i guess...
sorry im rambling.

Styles make fights. It doesn't has anything to do with "power levels" or whatever, but just how each character's style and abilities match. Naruto can beat Neji, but that doesn't necessarily make him jounin level or equal to any other jounin.

@Chambers: Until a blonde haired monkey turns up with the ability to fly (properly) and destroy planets, forget about power levels in Naruto.

No one else finds it weird that Naruto was satisfied with Kakashi's short and lame explanation of who the White Fang was? He didn't make any fuss at all.

I think it's an easy way to NOT go over the spoiler removed yet. The past of Kakashi will come later.
Also the Sand shell theory of Gaara is shot to hell with the screaming and all. Now we're sure.
Still can't talk about that yet.

Cool episode.
Finally Sakura did something useful. Hopefully she will also be useful in the future episodes. And what a cool way to take of the poison out. Quite original. I would have never thought of that.

naruto only beat neji because he went into crazy hollow-bankai mode. he wouldn't have won if he wasnt born with the strongest power ever. and he didnt really outfox neji, that was only like 1 time in his life where he used good strategy and got lucky, he didnt usually do that.

When he and Sasuke free Kakashi from Zabuza, when he beat the Rain gennin during the Chuunin exam, when he beat Neji, and the first half of his fight with Gaara before the summons came out.
As the series has progress he's actually become LESS clever the more powerful he's become.

Good episode. Animation was much improved over previous episodes, and once again, the background music made a big difference in a pretty slow-moving storyline.
One of the few annoying details: Sakura tells them to hold Kankurou down, then has to tell them again when he starts flailing. Very professional of them.
Otherwise, very good episode.

There really aren't many moments when he uses strategy. Although, against Kiba he did used a trick with Akamaru only following his greatest trick ever, the fart...
It always come to one thing in the first place, Kage Bunshin. He always relies on that, but not often does it has any effect...

I don't recall Naruto using any strategy against Sasuke.

I would agree that he didn't use any strategy in either fight against Sasuke. He also didn't use any strategy in the fight against Mizuchi at the very beginning of the series (of course he wasn't really technically a ninja at that point). Usually the fights without strategy are ones where he thinks he can win with brute force. The brute force is usually mass kage bunshin + physical attacks or rasengan.
I think he's gotten better with strategy overall as the series progressed.

What about the Naruto chain?
Yukimura
Mon, 04-30-2007, 04:23 PM
I don't think that counts as strategy, maybe tactics, but not strategy. All he did with it was try and pummel Sasuke to death, he didn't seem to have any real plan for using it to maximum effect.

OK, if you wanna get all technical. "I'm going to make 1000 kage bunshins and then run head on with a rasengan" is a strategy. It's stupid one, but it's a strategy.

i think as important as strategy (tactics, etc) is to what we've come to expect in naruto's fighting style, i think creativity is what i generally appreciate in his 'good' fights. I personally thought the Naruto chain was really cool because with bigger numbers came a bigger windup and more leverage. If you wanted to you could see it passed simply more numbers = more power. The fight eventually ended in a powerup battle but the buildup was really nice.

What I really like are high ninjutsu battles. Sandaime - Orochimaru was great. Also the Sandaime against the first en the second. Combining different ninjutsu provides a great visual fight.
But I also like the fights of Shikamaru, really tactical. Interesting to see how he prepares his next step.
