Apparently a new series, and judging from the description it sounds like G Gundam a bit.

Haven't watched it yet, I'll comment back when I do.
Edit: I don't get it, why do the anime makers always do this. They make mecha's from other countries look so ethnic, and make their own japanese mech so normal looking with the standard "Gundam" look and colors (Blue, White, Red, Green, Gold). Same thing happened in G Gundam. Anyways, the series is OK I guess, nothing special, standard teenage boy + mech shpiel. It's also pretty cheesy near the end.
