A nice looking series that I'm looking forward to.

TIAF07 Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dwlt4mnzrAM)

It is the year 202x in the mysterious city of Daikoku.

Kokonogi Yasako is a 6th grader in elementary school. The Kokonogi family, which includes Yasako, her little sister, and their parents, are a typical family. They move to Daikoku where Yasako`s grandmother lives. It is a historic city with many shrines and temples. Daikoku is also a special political district that has the latest computer facilities.

It's hard to tell what this is going to be about... A drama? Slice of life stuff? I know the art in the pictures seem interesting and unique. Was thinking this may be something like Zettai Shonen but with a future setting, even though I've only seen a couple of the early episodes.

Here's the OP:

Huh, that was interesting. Animation is nice, somewhat stylized (not everyone will like it), and pretty unique in this season. I predict a few people will REALLY like it though.

So, looks like it's about a young girl in a near future setting. The world is similar to ours unless you have glasses which let you view and interact with a computerized overlay of wherever you are. Reminds me of Vernor Vinge's Rainbow's End, which I recently read.

Anyways, in the first episode the girl is out with her sister and loses track of their artificial pet, a goofy looking dog. In chasing after it she runs into a strange little creature that is apparently some sort of illegal program and a group of young hackers that help her retrieve her dog and some sort of weird robot security system.

In summary, looks interesting, will follow for now.

That place looks like a real war zone. Maybe the main character forgot to invest into a virus scanner and firewall...

Anyway, this series has potential for uniqueness among the series airing now. AR as such is not a novel concept, but I don't remember seeing it as a center piece in anime that often, and moreover with kids as main characters.

The obsolete space was one interesting detail there. It looks like it could have been a house that had been where now was only the empty lot. That's a pretty nice idea. Basically structures of the house still remained somewhere and were possible to be accessed from the correct location. And apparently the institution maintainíng the VR side of public places doesn't particularly like those obsolete spaces. But some hackers likely appreciate them, and use them as refuges for the illegal cyber life forms.

Finally got around to watching it, and I must say it's pretty interesting and unique. Gonna be keeping up with this definetely.

So, now eps two and three are out by Ureshii, and I can definitely say I like what I see. The action sequences are nicely done, especially in 3, and the virtual creatures are really cute. The little fuzzy things (the hacker's agents, whatever they're called) remind me of Spirited Away. And Mega-Baa (sp?) is a great character.

Ep 3 seems to have completed the introduction sequence, so now to see the main plot.

Episode 3 - Ureshii (http://a.scarywater.net/ureshii/%5BUreshii%5D_Dennou_Coil_-_03_%5B1280x720-H264-AAC%5D_%5B3F761B9E%5D.mkv.torrent)

Is no one else following this series? It's rather interesting, unique, and quite funny to watch.

Its worth following, especially in the newer episodes (will not comment since it is still raw) but continue watching.

Took me a while to catch up, since I was watching Lunar's instead of Ureshii. I really love this series though. It reminds me a lot of Darwinia, if anyone has ever played that. The mysteries are really piling up already. The key that 'evil' Yuko has, the lock around Densuke's neck, whatever Yusako's 4-4-2-3 code and her keyhole means...

The best part of the series so far is the creepy grandma. Her face when she's shooting the Megane Beam and the mojos is priceless.

A bump for Episode 4, and why everyone should be watching this series:

Ureshii - Dennou Coil Episode 4 (http://a.scarywater.net/ureshii/%5BUreshii%5DDennou_Coil_04%5B2E8335A9%5D.avi.torr ent)

This episode alone is reason enough for everyone to be watching this series. It reminds me of Ghost in the Shell with kids and cyberpets, but the visuals on the hacking is absolutely stunning. Elementary students well versed in the workings of Proxies, Firewalls, and numerous workarounds all flawlessly rendered in Fumie's symbolic tags, GUIs, and whatever the hell Isako does. Symbolism is everywhere in this series, like Isako sitting in the pile of desks like a queen, perfectly representing her skills and position in relation to the boys.

The cyber battle in this episode was amazing on so many levels, particularly during it's climax of Fumie versus Isako.

And beyond the pretty visuals are mysteries and conspiracies. Was Yasako a bully or bullied? Isako worded it in a way that implied she's faking her personality, and it would be much more interesting if it turned out Yasako was a former bully, since it grinds with her current personality so much.

Episode 5 - Ureshii (http://a.scarywater.net/ureshii/%5BUreshii%5DDennou_Coil_05%5B0B9CC2F3%5D.avi.torr ent)

Let the Megane-Beams continue!

Wow, Isako is amazing...ly evil. Surrounded by fire, holding a pile of metabugs in her hand, and demanding fealty where there is little other option. The imagery in these last three episodes alone puts it above a lot of other series out there.

We still really don't have much of an idea what's going on, and there's only more and more mysteries added each week. Haraken's own abilities, dominating the Sacchi's because his relatives work for the company? And now the creepy motorcycle rider.

Told you guys to keep watching, and Ill do it again. Keep watching.

EDIT - yep, the hacking battle scene was brilliant, and is what got me hooked into this show. Hoping that more of that comes later on.

I got hooked i watched the first episode. The concept of this anime is really something new and unusual. What does the laser thing do if it comes contact with human flesh? A temporary cyberspace or something?

Anime-Kraze released 3 episodes so far.

The production value of this show is fantastic, makes the HD subs worth getting. Denno Coil's style reminds me of Spirited Away (Side note: and if you haven't seen all of Hayao Miyazaki's stuff, I recommend you do; the production quality is fantastic and the English dub versions are even actually worth a damn compared to the original Japanese with subtitles)

The show has been in pre-production/development for over 10 years according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennou_Coil) and is the directorial debut of Mitsuo Iso (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsuo_Iso), whose detailed key animation style can be seen in animation sequence in Kill Bill depicting the origin of O-Ren Ishi. Though the information about Mitsuo Iso's animation style does not directly apply to Denno Coil (since he is directing/creator of the series and not and animator for the series), it still gives you an idea of the kind of quality he probably demands while directing the series.

Although the first chunk of episodes are available on stage6 (http://stage6.divx.com), its better to grab the HD fansubs.

Currently the furthest along in subbing Dennou Coil is Ureshii fansubs they have subbed up to episode 12.
Home Page: http://www.ureshii-fansub.org/
Torrent Tracker: http://a.scarywater.net/ureshii/
(http://a.scarywater.net/ureshii/)
Episode 13 is available from "Anoni" Fansubs via Anirena:
http://tracker.anirena.com/download.php?id=1668

According to ANN, a "recap episode" was released after 13 that wasn't even given a number, I hope the fansubbers brush over the recap quickly and go onto 14.

For those of you that haven't gotten there yet, wait till episode 12, its easily the best episode thus far.

From what the show has shown so far, it just affects only the "virtual body"; in a fully Augmented Reality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality) your potision / body movements would have to be recorded and reproduced within the system so that you could interact with the virtual elements of the augmented reality.A virtual body is the image of that recording.

I love this series, and I really enjoyed eps 12. But something has been bothering me. How does Yasako fit into all this? They went into all the pasts of the other characters at least a little by now, but Yasako remains undeveloped still.

They could have given her a big part of the discovery of Kanna's diary as the key was 4223, the number her dreams kept conveying to her. But he figured out the password all on his own. Yasako didn't even get a chance.

Isako asked whether she was bullied, or was the bully at her old school. Yasako was deeply shaken by that. They've yet to go back to it, and it's stuck very clearly in my memory. Someone totally innocent and ignorant as a protagonist has been done to death, but they hinted at something very interesting that could be lurking behind Yasako's sweet personality.

I need Yasako development.

We also know that her father is one of the head honchos behind this whole virtual world thing.

SERIES THREAD REVIVAL!

I am just about to finish this series, and I have to say the last few episodes have been amazing. I was just wondering why people suddenly stopped watching or at least commenting on this show. Any other megane lovers out there?

EDIT: Just finished it. Amazing climax and ending. The continuous cliffhangers had me at the edge of my seat for the last 10 episodes, and the last four climax episodes were even better. I hope you guys check this out. It turns a lot more serious and exciting in the latter parts.

DB is pleased to announce that it is picking up a new project, Denno Coil. This 26-episode series has already finished airing and will not be released on a weekly basis. This means we will get to it when we get to it, so please do not complain about slow releases. While Denno Coil is a departure from our other projects, it is an excellent series. We hope that you will give it a chance!

Looks like it.

Unless they are using dvd sources, it's a waste of time for them to be doing this. Anime-Kraze is still doing it, and Ureshii finished it... both better groups than DB.

Well they haven't released any more episodes after that one so it was probably just another one of their retarded trolls.

(Sorry for Necroposting...)

After so many years, I finally decided I had to watch that show.

I have to say I did not watch it, because it didn't fit my preferences on so many levels. It was confirmed as I watched.
But I have to say it was a nice ride, all in all.
I could have done without Satchii.
I think the pace really was slow, I guess a 12-13 eps version would have worked too, but ep 12 filler would have been lost (more later)
Older protagonists would have been a lot more consistent with how those brats react and think things so deeply.
Nice scenario, and eps.
I had lots of goods laughs from ep 12, that really did mesh well with the background established for the characters. Some shows really do great fillers that you actually want to watch, that filler is one of those.

Don't be phased out by the pace, it really gets slowly to speed and skyrockets towards the end.

I actually dropped this mid way, it didn't do it for me at all.
