This is a popular shoujo manga with comedy about a tall girl and a short boy who are a bickering comic pair, but the relationship between the two starts to develop more along the way. It should be a fun series, the manga is funny and great, so hopefully this will be good.

Risa and Otani are always being laughed at as the comedy duo. Risa, a girl, is taller than the average girl, and Otani, a boy, is shorter than the average boy. The two are always bickering and even their teacher sees them as a comedy act. But as their friendship develops, so does Risa`s feelings toward Otani.

While I always hope every shounen show (and seinen) I watch would have a romance in it, I have found out I have hard time finishing actual pure romance (shoujo) shows. It looks like I need the focus to be something else and a romance, not just romance.

But who knows, maybe I could have a look at this, because there seems to be something else also in this one, if that short description is any solid indication of the content.

Actually this should be a Comedy-Romance anime, sorry couldn't find any other descriptions for the anime, and I think its more comedy than romance, but they call it shoujo.

yeah i agree K-sub was pretty good to me im glad they translated some of the wierd things. in any case i like the show its Comedy-Romance but seems like more comedy wich i enjoy

Ugh, it's interesting but I can't stand listening to it if Osaka's the main dialect. It'd be OK, if i heard like a side character with the accent but the whole thing's in it XD

It's a two man group, and I thought they did a really good job.

I myself like the Osaka dialect as the main dialogue, it's refreshing and it works better in comedies.

Tried the first ep, I'll see with the others...

But as of yet I'm not decided.
The drawing style is not rellay my type. And the over deformations are there so often that I'm not yet sure of what the faces of main characters are.
Most of the time, even when not overdeformed, Koïzumu looks like an alien with that elipsoïd face and big round eyes.

For the story and all, well I hope sometimes in the other eps I'll laugh, because there's no story at all yet. Probably because it's a comedy and it should be enough :rolleyes:

I just watched the first episode of this. It's amazing. Koizumi's facial expressions are worth more laughs than anything I've seen in anime recently. The pacing is also really good. I can't believe how much happened in just the first episode. I hope the whole series is like that.

I finally decided to have a look at this. The first three eps weren't bad. I'll try to keep watching this.

But the dude looks very similar to the guy in Bokura ga Ita, I think (which isn't necessarily a propitious thing because I never finished Bokura ga Ita...)

Bokura ga ita is waaaay over dramatic, not that such a thing is bad since some people prefer it that way. But Lovely complex veers more toward comedy and silliness, and much better IMO.

Finally caught up to episode 12, fun series. I think the series went a bit down hill since the confesion, mainly because the main character diverted too much for too long from who she was and became the usual sad emo chick when they get rejected. Hopefully the next couple of episodes won't show her crying minute after minute, at least episode 12 lacked in that department which is good.

This romance surely takes one step backwards for each step forward that somehow manages to happen. If something concrete is not going to happen soon, it'll get repetitive.

I really like the new intro, it feels so fresh. And by the looks of the intro we'll get to see new characters introduced, and more development between Otani and Koizumi maybe?!

I'm guessing Maity is Gay.... from his surname, from the cold some girls feel when he is present... those girls that seem to have a little more experience of the masculine type.
His "rosy" surrondings, the way he his sometimes depicted etc...

Of course, it's my interpretation only.

Im not sure if he is gay or not, but I am hoping he doesnt turn out to be those kind of characters that is acting out the bad guy to help out the love between the two main characters. Its always nice to have REAL antagonists, even in a rom com like this.

I only recently (like yesterday) caught up with this show again. It's still going as strogly as ever, even though the cyclic nature looked a bit bad already. But the latest episode seems very promising in that respect. Perhaps, despite some badly timed falling asleep, things will get more solid and... well, different.

The introduction of the basketball opponent team was funny, at least.

It's a slow pace show, really intended at teenage girls it seems, so we have to keep up with that, or leave it ;)

In a span of three days, I have watched 17 episodes. While this is a great series, I think my boredom at home contributed to that as well, haha.

The giant screen scene was pretty funny. Somehow I didn't see it coming, though it was inevitable in retrospect, considering where they were.

It's good the story finally took a step forward. It's not like their adversities would have been removed but honestly it was getting old. Now they can invent new kinds of opposing elements, like the neighbour girl.

Actually it was really fun since at the beginning of the episode Risa mentioned she wanted to tell the whole world that they were in love...Reality is much more embarrassing huh?

In the end, I think I like love triangles (or more...) a lot.
They give quite a lot of spice and uncertainty.

However watching them from outside is far better than living them because of all the contrast feelings you have, that mainly become pain.

This is a pretty good series, I liked the ranged expressions of the characters a lot. I pretty much marathoned this show though so now it's time to shower, sleep for a few hours and then wake up to start drinking -_-

Somehow I don't see a series like this having a second season. Still, they need to fill the last eps with something, and a new character could work out well to make things more complicated.

This episode was kind of sad with those two separating. They were the most lovey-dovey couple of the series, after all.

I agree. I didn't think that Nakao would take the news that badly. But then again, they don't know when their next meeting will be, adding more to the stress of seperating.

New character at this point of the season? No matter, as long as it adds to the complex factor, hehe.

I'd say it's a combination of both!

I think this is quite a good ending. The insanity and soft sides really blended well together. I really wonder if a 2nd season is possible, considering how there's 16 volumes of this series out.

Best part: "I got accepted into the university!" "....... No way!! Why??"

Alright, I had stopped at episode 11 a while back, but I recently decided to finish it and now I'm done.

Quite a fun series, great character interaction. Really enjoyed it till the end, and as said above, the ending was quite nice.

Since you're wondering about a second season, well the manga finished at volume 17. For those interested, the anime went till chapter 46 in volume 12. So they have 5 volumes worth of content to do something, if they ever decide to. But the ending was good, so I don't think there's really a need for it.

With that said, I'm planning on reading the rest of it, though the scanlations are only up to volume 13.

Anyways, fun funny series till the end.
