This is a 2007 remake of a 1975 series. Series is animated by Production I.G., so it should have some good action scenes I'd say.

The story takes place in Japan's near future.

Saiga Junki enjoys his school life as a normal high school student. One day, he hears that his father, an archaeologist missing for the past 10 years, was found dead in ruins located at Iwate Prefecture’s Mt. Kurokami; thus, Junki travels there.

Junki blacks out while in the ruins and witnesses a strange vision. Upon waking, he finds a gold bracelet left beside him with an inscription that reads, "The Great Reideen..."

At the same time, a meteor falls from the sky and a large mechanical beast appears out of a lake.

What is this gold shining object that appeared from out of Mt. Kurokami as if in response to the mechanical beast?

The story illustrates Junki's transference between his normal life during the day and his strange life of fighting by night, the embarrassment of peers, conflict, and human drama in detail.

Will the great power that Junki happened to obtain bring him glory... or fear?

*This is a remake of the 1975 series Yusha Reideen.

There's another remake from 1996 being done by Central-Anime, you can discuss it here:

Hmmm, the art/animation looks decent from their site, DLing!

Also, what happened to your name? SAO is badass, but Budweineken was so much leeter.

Edit: Watched the first episode. The art and animation are real nice and spiffy. The plot however follows the typical routine Mecha deal. Main character stumbles upon robot due to danger, etc. That aside, I find it pretty decent and I'll keep this on my To Watch list.

The battle scenes weren't as good as I had hoped, but I think it'll improve later on. I like the plot execution though. The story telling is well done, and it has a mature feel to it. I liked the character designs too, well in short I'll keep watching for now.

I like the animation of this show aside from it CG mechs. I like Shiori ( Saiga's friend), so id like to see her alot in the show. The battle scenes annoy me a bit, far too slow for my liking. However something that big would have to move around that speed so its got logic behind it i guess, but when has anime ever been logical. :P

I'll be continuing to download it, I am a fan of mech shows.

Edit: As "Munsu" just reminded me the Zombie scene did kickass.

Whoa! I love the feel of this show so far (only 1st ep). and I have to say... the OP is NEAT! i was really puzzled as to what kind of show this was... i remembered vaguely reading that this was a Mecha show... but i thought i was confused with one of the 3-4 others i started for this season...

also, since i just started playing Supreme Commander... well, giant slow moving robots rule!

I guess there's no need to complain too much for the slow moving robots, but man those action scenes with the zombies were very good. Hopefully we'll see a lot of those types of scenes in the future instead of only relying on mecha action.

Zombies and robots? Sounds good. Downloading the 2 episodes now.... Remakes usually means the original was a classic.

Jeez, the mecha's still moving so slow is a huge turn off.

I like the fact that mecha's battels are in slow-motion and they are very detailed. I like the fact that helicopters weren't useless and were able to put some resistence even through futile.

just watched all four eps...from 1-4 i kept telling myself, it's too early to judge, it's too early to judge...

In the end i'm not enjoying it as much as i could. What annoys me is that each time reideen comes out it takes about 10 mins with all the poses and all the forming itself...it just reminds me so much of the power rangers :(

that maedasaki fella is cool though, he's like friendly and goofy haha...i esp love his reaction in episode four when he looks up close to the alien things face. I lol'ed

I'd have to say i'm enjoying the scary factor of the series so far, it's made me jumped a few times and give me shivers here and there...but yeah i just wish reideen doesn't take so much time to make his entrance...it gets old the 10th time round.

Episode 6 by Huzzah (http://huzzah.edwardk.info/%5BHuzzah%5D_Reideen_06_%5B0016F958%5D.avi.torrent )

Finally a new episode. Hm, for some reason I can't download the torrent it'll prob be workin soon.

edit: The Link I got from animesuki.com was probably the wrong one, I've fixed it with the correct link. Uh, whenever Junki goes inside Reideen he's always naked regardless of clothes, I don't see how that suit would make a difference and appear on him when he's inside. Again when he's fighting the seperating robot, if you see iit separate move you idiot. Why do characters like him lack common sense and scream out before anything happens to him?
