This is what should be a good TV Special, I don't know if a TV series or something is on the making, but it should be good regardless.

A big earthquake demolishes the capital of Japan, and it splits the main land into halves. Japan is divided into the northern and the southern parts. They accept aides from two large countries, i.e., United States and China. However, actually, it is occupation named “aid”. Many Japanese become refugees to go to foreign countries. But, the recovery from the disaster doesn’t work well, and frictions between the inhabitants and the refugees who can’t go home are getting serious.

When I first time noticed this show the first thing I immediately pondered was in what manner of world the USA would allow China to occupy half of Japan (or what manner of Japan itself, for that matter). But I guess only wathing this would give an explanation.

In current time, I guess that would be to soak Russia's influance away from China. They've been trying to do that for ages now. China also opened its borders to foreign investors and than closed it again for US investors. *some* European countries are still allowed to build something up there, but those that aren't any longer, China doesnt have much of a law when it comes to being gentle. These companies hear one day they can no longer do bussiness any longer because they violated x,y,z of the China laws and theyre simply broken down that same day. And China is predicted to be the largest new market in this and the next decade.

Doing bussiness with China would probably be one opener to join an Alliance. The Russia thing might not be it, Communism they both were, America still fears for a world of Communism, but the bonds between current Russia and China are not what they used to be. Shallow at most.

edit : These things come from some Dutch economics pages, whether theyre propoganda or not I do not know.

I watched half of it... its pretty good (I stopped cuz i haven't slept in a while... not boredom)... animation is not so good, but the art is beautiful. the eruption is pretty cool. through this part, there is nothing about china or the us (only small talk of international aid). Fuji-san is the most important.

this said, the art is very reminiscent of Zipang (along with the reality vibe that comes out of it)... and DP is subbing it... is it only a coincidence?
