Internet Explorer 7 final edition was just released earlier today. Just downloaded it and the new look is gonna take some getting used to since I've had 6 ever since I had a computer I believe. I'm gonna need to get rid of the live search on the top of the screen.

They say it's better than Firefox 1.5, but with Firefox 2.0 just around the corner, how long can IE7 last? Firefox is updated much more frequently and already supports third-party extensions.
I'm downloading it anyway because no matter what, it can't be worse than that piece of shit known as IE6.
Edit: Bah, IE7 checks for that Genuine Advantage crap. I forgot I'm using a pirated Win XP on my desktop. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try it on my laptop instead. That runs a legit version.

Does it fully support 32-bit pngs? I think that has been one of the major problems with older IEs, at least.
Well, not that I would change back from Firefox... I wasn't particularly unsatisfied with IE when I changed to Firefox in the past, but Firefox's tab system and the better safety made me happier. I don't really need any more than that. I haven't even installed any plug-ins.

I'm really on the fence about either getting this, or pulling myself out of the stoneage and installing Firefox. It does seem that with Firefox I'd be better supported.
Either way I'll be adjusting to the change, since like Aeon, I've only ever used IE6 :p .

On slashdot it says that not even 24 hours after its release someone already found holes. Haha.

A cracked version(s) was released within 24 hours. Every *site* should have it by now.
All I can say about IE7 is that it's nothing worth writing home about. Firefox is still better.

Pretty much, I more or less don't plan on downloading this unless my house is about to burn down and the only way I can stop it is if I download this.

what is so good about firefox.... ?
personnally, i use Opera and i don't see much difference between those 2 browser.
And IE just plain suck, i only use it for website that only accept IE (maplestory.nexon.net is an exemple of such site)

Edit: Small edit on the CNET review, now that I've read it through a bit more. Not only did FF kick IE's ass, it did so without the reviewers knowing about FF's about:config options, which would give it at least 3-4 points extra in the review.
Good thing you reminded me of the about:config. I finally got around to browse through it and get rid of that pesky url bar go button.

I use IE almost exclusively (except when testing websites) and my computer hasn't exploded, nor has my productivity slowed to a crawl, nor do I get bombarded with ads and the FBI certainly hasn't been knocking down my door because some hacker put kiddie porn on my hard drive. Although I admit tabbed browsing is a nice feature, even though it was pretty much that way already with the Start Menu.
At any rate, web surfing isn't a big part of my productive day. Let's face it: if all you do is go between Slashdot and whitechicksblackdicks.com, your point of view in this whole big browser war isn't very valuable.

Opera doesn't really work for me, I cannot customize it the way I want it (people say you can change eeeeverything, but that's humbug.
That's the reason I'm stuck with Firefox. I have to completely customize every program I use.

I don't really use IE much but like you say, I've never had programs when I do use it. I just don't like it because it feels "sluggish." It also doesn't let you do much customization.
