Promo of the OVA out by Karehi:
http://karehi.edwardk.info/%5BKarehi%5D_Mai_Otome_Zwei_Promo_%28xvid%29_%5B2B 845AA8%5D.avi.torrent

One year after the events of Mai-Otome, an asteroid on a collision course with Windbloom kingdom is destroyed - barely - by an international task force of Meister Otome. Subsequently a new and more powerful kind of Slave appears, along with a sinister black-robed entity - or entities - able to easily overpower the most powerful of Meisters. Not only this, but Arika and Mashiro's troubled relationship is hindering the use of the Sapphire of Azure Sky - possibly the one weapon powerful enough to defeat this new adversary.

Looks alright.

The most essential and important information was saved for the very last seconds, naturally:

Definitely enough reason to check this one out. Can't wait till November,

It's not November anymore, but finally it's here. Let's rejoice!

Episode 1 - Doremi-OTOME (http://a.scarywater.net/doremi/%5BDoremi-OTOME%5D.Mai-Otome.Zwei.01.%5BXvid%5D%5B2B00B501%5D.avi.torrent )

Edit: It was some heavy action. And a really overpowering enemy. And true to the ova traditions, fanservice can always be a bit more... generous than in aired stuff. Still, this is no amaenaideyo, of course.

All in all it was very interesting and looked promising indeed. Some parts were a bit on the cliched side of the traditional themes, but on the other hand no more so than I'd have expected. Plenty of funny transformations, naturally, in any case.

Yes, More Shizuru-nee! The rest of the OVA looks good too but still...Shizuru.

Best Shizuru Moment: 09:52
Worst Shizuru Moment 15:52 (though I wouldn't mind having one of those myself)

Anyway, the fanservice was certainly more...prominent as Kraco said, but the action was great too, and I'm interested in what will happen next beyond just wanting to see Shizuru some more, so I'd call it a success.

Good part:
Excellent Ova. Great animation. Good fanservice. More Mai action. Zwei Materialize was indeed interesting (although it already appeared on the series, yet it did not have a name then).
Evil part:
The synopsis Bud posted a while ago doesn't match.
Damn 2nd ova wont come out until February.
If this tendence (sp?) is kept up... 3rd will be out June and the last one on September -_-

Was I the only one who thought Chie's Magician Robe suited her perfectly? Kinda manish, but still mysterious and classy.

It didn't really seem like the story went anywhere otherwise, this was pretty much a Haruka episode. Not that that's a problem, I love Haruka, but with the huge cliffhanger that was the first episode, I was expecting some answers. The evil Meister's similarity to Shinso-sama didn't come off as much of an answer to me.

Tomoe has obviously been relegated to the humiliating villain role. I do wonder where Nina will tie into all this.

Kraco
Mon, 02-26-2007, 03:49 PM
Aye. The story hardly went anywhere. And moreover, I don't really see even the whole point of the bulk of this episode. They used all too much time for a few bonehead bus hijackers. I think they could have cut half of this episode away without losing anything at all.

And there wasn't even any fanservice...

Well, at least Nina is back. Lets hope she will kick ass. At least she should have attitude for that if she regains her spirit.

I thought it was pretty good, I don't know what the story is, but I'm not really looking for it, I'm happy enough just seeing all my old friends again. Chie's hat magic was unespected and very cool, and Haruka's badassness was once again top notch. She was still fighting AND talking smack after being sliced in half, lasered through the torso and turning to stone.

In other news...WTF, Ghost of Shinso can turn things into stone?!?!

Nice episode. But that was the problem. It felt like an episode, not like a big budget OVA (dunno if it isn't, but ova's should be... at least that is what is expected).

First OVA was amazing... this one was... meh... good for an tv episode.

Lets wait another 3 months for next ova.

Mai Otome Zwei - 03 - [Static Subs] (http://www.staticsubs.org/releases/torrent.php?id=519)

Note: Massive fanservice, this should not be watched in the presence of judgemental people.

Downloading now.
Will re-download if Doremi releases its version though.
Thanks Yuki.

EDIT:
Watched. Very good ova. 1000 times better than last one.
But... I feel there is still too much to do, with only one ova left.

Mai Otome Zwei Ova 04 (http://weedy.1.vg:8394/torrents/%5BNDK%5D.Mai-Otome.Zwei.04.%5B91F34730%5D.avi.torrent?info_hash =9e1e453e449b80f0813b2ac868382752887931a1)

Everything must come to an end... and what an ending... a Sunrise-one definitely.

Loved how they once again connected Mai HiME and Mai Otome with the inclusion of Kagutsuchi and the Red Star.

Dophin-Mikoto was stupid though.

I think I'll wait for another subber. The name NDK doesn't ring any bells for me.

i'm just wondering..
did Tate showed up in this OVA ?
ok thanks.

RyougaZell
Sun, 09-02-2007, 04:08 PM
Tate was never on Mai Otome.

Kraco:

Remember Mai Otome is licensed, so don't expect a sub from the previous normal groups.
And and I didn't see anything bad with this NDK one.

From Doremi-Otome section of Mai Otome:

Update 9-01-2007

-[NDK].Mai-Otome.Zwei.04.[91F34730].avi (9-01-2007)

Zwei licensed by Bandai. Go buy the DVDs when they come out.

Doh. I didn't remember Zwei was also licensed. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to download this one, then.

Guess no one else saw the comment when the torrent was posted on Tokyotosho.

Comment: What a Sunrise'd ending. #(first three keys of the C scale on piano)@irc.rizon.net
Very clever. No one should have any qualms about downloading this version now.

Damn.... I saw that. But didn't understand it. By re-reading it in your post I finally understood. DOH!

Aaaanyways...

Is the Mai Otome Sci Fi Promo at the end another of Sunrise's jokes? Like Mai HiME movie?

Ryllharu
Sun, 09-02-2007, 06:37 PM
Well, the end of Zwei was stupid. We all had to see some variation of it coming, since the OVA never once seemed to take itself serious. I did enjoy the appearance of Mai-Hime Mashiro's True Form...after combining with Fumi of course, heh. Maybe no one else remembers that, it was only a few frames in Mai-Hime anyway.

As far as I can tell, that prequel is completely serious. There wasn't a "Coming in 20006," like the Mai HiME movie had.

Yukimura
Mon, 09-03-2007, 01:36 AM
Alls well that ends well, even if it didn't make any sense at all. Plenty of silliness and fanservice with a bit of action tosed in, pretty much all I really ever ask of Mai-*. Hopefully Statis-Subs will shrug the license as well so I can burn the same group for all 4.

Mon, 09-03-2007, 09:21 AM
I'm a little confused, oh well.
The fusion between Mashiro and Shinso sort of blew the whole thing, and she's defeated that easily. I guess I shouldn't complain >.<

Kraco
Mon, 09-03-2007, 10:36 AM
A Sunrised ending, alright.

I have to say, as well, that the ending was a bit weak. In the first eps the enemies were totally overpowering but in this ep they got defeated far too easily, no matter what manner of a brilliant plot Nagi supposedly concocted. Sucks to be Nagi, though. He should have orchestrated a bit better assurances for himself before revealing all the details needed.

Why's everyone still waiting for Static-Subs? They already released it:

xvid (http://www.staticsubs.org/releases/torrent.php?id=559)
h264 (http://www.staticsubs.org/releases/torrent.php?id=560)

They released it before NDK, actually...

And wow... so... how does this fit on the timeline? Its all messed up now... my head at least.
At the end of Mai-Hime, you can see Arika running across the background behind Mai and friends at springtime. This special only takes place a few weeks after that from Arika's dialogue about living in a tent.

Nina was always in Mai's class in Mai-Hime (seriously, she is even in the ED).

So...

Mai-Hime -> This Special -> 100s - 1000s of years and a planet or two later -> Mai Otome Sifr -> Mai Otome -> Mai Otome Zwei

RyougaZell
Wed, 03-31-2010, 07:01 PM
Yes, I do know that timeline Ryll.

What messed up my head was Nina, Arika and Ers saying they felt they knew each other from somewhere else. Bit that somewhere else took place thousands of years later... and kid-Nagi and kid-Mashiro were saying something about them living a new life...

Ryllharu

You could have been more specific the first time. I answered with what I thought you asked for.

Hmm...I don't think I'd think about it too deeply. There is that giant island the Himes blew up just sitting there in the bay, airplane warning lights all over it. Alyssa was one of the villains in the first series and her Child considered an artificial bastard of a creation. Turn around to Otome and then her rumored descendants are the strongest and most powerful girls on the planet.

It could be we're wrong about the timeline. Perhaps they were never in sequence to begin with. Maybe they've been in a time-shifted parallel all along.

Nina's cat, also...named Nina...has got to be one of the ugliest looking anime cats of all time. It is all scrawny and mangy.

RyougaZell
