Sumomomo Momomo: Chijou Saikyou no Yome /
Sumomomo Momomo - The Strongest Bride on Earth

This is a series I have been looking forward to ever since I heard the name first time.

A promo is out by Megami:
Sumomomo 15s preview - Megami (http://a.scarywater.net/megami/%5BMegami%5D_Sumomo_mo_momo_mo_15sec_preview_%5BC0 527BEB%5D.avi.torrent)

"Based on a seinen manga by Shinobu Ohtaka, serialized in Young Gangan.

Koushi Inuzuka is a smart high school student who aims to become a public prosecutor. Unfortunately for our good guy, he was born into a martial arts family whose head (ie his father) only knows one language: violence. When Koushi was still a baby, his father made a pact with his biggest rival to marry Koushi to his opponent-turned-friend`s daughter. The union of the two blood lines is supposed to bring forth Earth`s strongest martial arts clan.

Skip forward: Koushi is in high school, oblivious to the marriage arranged for him at his birth. Enter Momoko Kuzuryuu: sugar bomb, airhead, loli martial arts artist and Koushi`s self-proclaimed bride (the strongest on Earth, no less). Her wish for sexual intercourse meets with Koushi`s square refusal as he has absolutely no desire to get it on with someone who looks like she could be his little sister, not to mention that he doesn`t have the foggiest idea who she actually is.

Meanwhile, a war has broken out between the martial arts families. For Koushi, this means that numerous fighters are out to challenge him. As if that weren`t bad enough, our protagonist also has a fight phobia due to a traumatic incident that took place in his childhood. Now it`s up to Momoko and her superhuman fighting skills to protect her "husband." Will the two sweethearts survive the trials and tribulations ahead of them? More importantly, will Momoko get her way receiving a baby from Koushi?

The preview doesn't really tell much, other than the graphics are agreeable. Hopefully the first episode will appear soon, as the raw has been out there since last week.

Had good OP lol this looks like its going to be a good new refreshing funny series with martial arts. Koushi's dad did some Tenjou Tenge move.

A pretty crazy show indeed. Momoko is indeed an airhead... There was quite a pace in the first episode, mainly due to Momoko's uber energetic nature. I wonder if it will cool down a bit in the future episodes. Also, I wouldn't have minded if the martial arts had been a bit closer to the ground and not looking so highly symbolic (or were they clearly supernatural?). I hope this aspect will change a bit in the future, as well.

Nevertheless, it looked like a good series and worthy of the bizarre name.

This title reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer is obsessed with Moe stealing his drink idea and then he starts hearing everything as Momomomomo...momomo....momo.

Is there anyway to get this besides bittorrent? My network admins block and actively monitor bittorrent use, and getting caught means big trouble.

Regardless of the hilarious title, this is a really weird series (to me, at least). Gonna have to watch a few more episodes before declaring it watchable or not.

Well, now you get a chance to watch one more of those few more episodes needed:

Episode 2 - Megami (http://a.scarywater.net/megami/%5BMegami%5D_Sumomo_mo_Momo_mo_02_%5BBEABBECB%5D.a vi.torrent)

Edit: The future looks promising and already gives a hint of how they possibly could support this for 26 episodes. This episode was in a certain sense more stabile than the last one, which was basically just introduction.

Episodes 3 & 4 by Luperry (never heard of them myself, but seems to have done a good job)

Is Megami shut down for real? Not just the web site?

Well, if Luperry does good job, I guess it's all the same to get the treats from them, then.

Not sure, but haven't seen anything from them since the site got shut down. Luperry's are very good quality video though, and the translation seems to be done well though I do miss the "Let's engage in child production" line that Megami had in the opening song. :p

Episode 3 was great. The polar bear was hilarious - especially the voice acting.

I generally like hard subs better than soft subs, but there wasn't really anything to complain about. Luperry seems to be doing good work.

I dl ep 9. the subs were very good, so was the video quality. the group is called gamefaqs and other stuff. i think. it's on scarywater. Over all it was a well put together ep. just for reference purposes the subs were much better than luperry's. what's really funny is at the middle interlude it says not to sell it on ebay, but to sell luperry's. :) as far as the review of the episode you get to learn about how the class rep. plays into the story. you've already seen her, but didn't know it. really good ep.

Yay, I'll have this ready to watch as soon as I'm done work.

EDIT: OK-- They've spent 3 hours so far making Momoko completely unlikeable... If Inuzuka doesn't get with the class rep, some writers are going to get shot.

Ryllharu
Tue, 01-02-2007, 03:31 PM
But it's only a matter of time before Inuzuka finds out she's one of those Martial Arts Freaks he professed to her that he hated. Feeling betrayed, he'll have no choice but to fall into Momoko's arms, where she will make him hers immediately!

The way they've written it, the only way to prevent a war that will engulf all of Japan, Inuzuka has to end up with Momoko, since Sanae is part of the same faction he is. Well, I suppose he could end up with Iroha, but since the loli-yuri eps, she's been trying to force Momoko and Inuzuka together.

No matter what we want, he'll end up with the barefoot loli...

Bucket

Ah, nuts to that.

Kraco
Tue, 01-02-2007, 06:15 PM
Sometimes I wonder if this series has such things as plot writers at all... Ryllharu is no doubt right with his assessment, but sometimes I can't help but wonder if this is ever going to progress anywhere. And the fact how they are indeed making Momoko look unlikable yet apparently pairing her and Inuzuka is somehow cheap. If they invent a way for the pairing not to happen at the end, then it will make Momoko a complete loser, or if it happens no matter what, then it's just cruel to use the bulk of the series to make her a complete disliked fool.

Bucket
Wed, 01-03-2007, 01:30 AM
Well, I understand the story. And at this point, there are quite a few characters who at the end of the series will be branded 'pathetic loser'. It frustrates me to know that the only redeeming quality that the so-called heroine will have is that she gets the guy in the end (for some outlandish reason that they only have 2 episodes left to explain). Meanwhile, the tragic side-story will remain completely unresolved.

It's Love Hina all over again.

Kraco
Wed, 01-03-2007, 03:19 AM
But let's go forward anyhow:

Episode 11 xvid - LuPerry (http://www.point-blank.cc:16384/allowed/torrent.php/%5BLuPerry%5D_Sumomomo_Momomo_-_11_(704x396_XviD).%5B3C7687C9%5D.mkv.torrent)
Episode 11 h264 - LuPerry (http://www.point-blank.cc:16384/allowed/torrent.php/%5BLuPerry%5D_Sumomomo_Momomo_-_11_(1280x720_x264).%5B9AC0A9C6%5D.mkv.torrent)

Ryllharu
Wed, 01-03-2007, 07:14 AM
(for some outlandish reason that they only have 2 episodes left to explain). Meanwhile, the tragic side-story will remain completely unresolved.

Sumomomo Momomo is a 26 eps series. There's plenty of time to resolve everything. Hopefully they actually will.

EDIT: Unless you mean they'll wait for the last two eps to hook them up. I might have misunderstood.

Bucket
Wed, 01-03-2007, 07:52 AM
Oh... no, I did assume it was 12 episodes. At any rate, I guess they'll need 26 episodes to get every character to pull a 180 and throw in some deus ex machina for good measure.

Thats doubtful, since the whole point of the show is that Koushi is weak. If they change that all of a sudden, and with no explanation, that would really ruin this show for me.
