yes, i did just decide to dl it in hopes that it was an anime about black people.

and?

Kyuuketsuki - Black Blood Brothers - episode 1 (http://baka-updates.com/groups.php?title=Kyuuketsuki)

well no, it's not what we all hoped it would be about at all.

Turns out it's another vampire job, complete with Chevalier-esque saving people and quite a bit of garlic mongering action is the formula here

Still DLing currently, but it got a pretty decent reception at RandomCuriosity. And it's about vampires folks!

I don't know if it's just me but, this dude kinda looks like Van from GunxSword, lol. At least the outfit. But I think I might give this a download.

Well, I was looking for more vampire series, and thus I had my eyes on this one earlier already. Is that subber a good one (also otherwise and not only because of the appropriate name)? Any idea if other subbers are about to work on this series?

Well, I might have to wait a while before I can download this series. For some reason I keep getting a "was not found on this server." error message.

Because they pulled the release.

I just hope some other group picks this up.

Just watched the first episode, I thought it was good.

Had some nice action, I wanna see some more of that and some comedy moments.

Yeah, I liked the first episode. It had plenty of good action, though at the moment I don't care much for the main character. I also hope that from the second episode on we get a better handle on the plot, instead of these random scenes that plagued the first episode.

I hear a rumor that there's a near-and-dear (and habitually slow) group that might be working on it, but I won't elaborate on that <_<

The first episode was decent. The action in the beginning kind of reminded me of Kenshin for some reason, which is not a bad thing. (I’m a big fan of swordsmanship.) The question I have is, was the ocean water holy in some way and that’s why it started burning Kojiro? (I think that’s his name) And it's pretty safe to say that a "Old Blood/Black Blood" vampire is one that was born as one and not turned into one. (which is becoming a tired theme to me)

Munsu
Fri, 09-15-2006, 04:51 PM
From what I understood Old Blood != Black Blood. Black Bloods = Vampires, Red Bloods = Humans. That's how I understood it at least.

Styles
Fri, 09-15-2006, 04:56 PM
True, that makes sense. I wonder what the ratio is between the humans and the vampires. Seems like there is a great number of vamps, at least in the first episode.

Munsu
Fri, 09-15-2006, 05:09 PM
Not only are there a lot, they seem to have their own lands and there's also seem to be some sort of truce between both races, a truce that's being broken at the moment or some shit. Wasn't really paying much attention.

Styles
Fri, 09-15-2006, 07:03 PM
If that's the case, this series might become more interesting. Did you get all that from just the first episode? If so, I might need to go back and re-watch it and pay more attention, lol.

Munsu
Sat, 09-16-2006, 01:31 AM
Yeah, I got it all from the first episode... I might rewatch it later on to get a better picture. But from what you can see there's some force called "The Company" that used to help the vampires or something, but now it's turning against them. I didn't pay much attention to the dialogue, so I think I and must of us should rewatch the first episode as we probably just focused on the action.

This was a good episode. The history at the beginning was short and sweet, a normal human is involved with the brothers, and some interesting villains.
But then again, I've only watched one vampire anime in my entire life, so if this series is considered the norm for vampire animes, well, guess it just means that I gotta watch more ^^

I wonder if there exist enough vampire series to think of any norms...

This series seems rather entertaining, although after this second ep I'm still waiting for a stronger, more coherent plot to surface. Maybe those experimenting villains and the special ops are some indications of one.

Interesting episode, though the flash back didn't really make much sense other than establishing that Cassa is better at Aoikugan (made up word) than Jirou. And Cassa's surprise at seeing Kotarou seems to imply that she didn't know much about him before now.

I rather shocked by this episode. I thought Cassa was going to be this insanely powerful force that no one could withstand and then Jirou would have to do some weird soul searching in order to barely eek out the win, but now it seems like she may not be as powerful as we all think, but instead just good at organizing underhanded stuff like the blood thing.

Munsu

Episode 10 was pretty good...

Also, Alice and Kotarou have the same VA right?

Kraco
Fri, 11-17-2006, 08:44 AM
It certainly sounds that way. It was pretty weird, especially in the scene where Jirou apparently met her for the first time. Well, maybe there's some connection there also otherwise. Or has it been implied / even explained earlier? I don't remember.

I think it's good Cassa wasn't some uber overpowerful villain boss after all. It's more realistic this way. But what happened to his brother, the one whose uncounscious body was in the blood warehouse? Wasn't it him who took over other people's bodies left and right? I can't imagine they would have left his original body just there, alone, in the warehouse ruins. So, it would be logical to assume if he tries to return to his original body, he won't be waking up in any place too nice...

After catching up with this i must say that this is one of my favourites this season. I actually have no idea what the hell is going on, but if it all makes sense in the end, it'll be good. My main question right now is, what the hell is Kotarou/Alice. And its true that people that do not care about their surroundings like Kotarou are actually the most dangerous if they have power (but then he doesn't seem to have any... yet).

An interesting episode, and quite a cliffhanger.

The vampires in this series certainly have some crazy superpowers. The police officers, on the other hand, should spend more time at the firing range than polishing their boots. Well, maybe the surviving 3% will do that after this incident is over.

Munsu
Wed, 11-22-2006, 12:01 PM
Yeah, I really liked this episode...

I wonder why Jirou said to Mimi something along the lines of "Mimi, who are you really?" Instead of noticing that it was all Kotarou's doing. I would've thought that it would be obvious to him.

Jirou was finally going to show some balls when he got pissed off at Mimi, but then he had to get his ass kicked as always. I'm still waiting to see what's so great about him.

kAi
Wed, 11-22-2006, 05:48 PM
I thought it was great how he got pissed off at Mimiko, I was hopinf he'd do something.
"..you conceited human.." that was awesome.

I guess we'll see Jirou go all out next episode, which is the last.

Sei was awesome, very strong vampire.

It was a fine series. I've always been a fan of vampires, and vampire animes, though few in numbers, have oft been good.

This certainly ended like there could be another season, and furthermore, according to information Arcness relayed to me, the source material is still being published. So, it should be possible to continue it, if they so choose.

Munsu
Mon, 11-27-2006, 08:01 PM
Indeed this was an enjoyable series, and I have high hopes for a sequel being done. See this is the way to do things. Do a short series, wait for more material to be writen or published, then do a sequel. Fuck fillers.

A very nice series and a good way of ending it, I do see a second season ahead, but maybe just not for a while.

It was good to see some of the skills of Jirou before it was all over, and his swordsmanship. The best part by far was when he was fighting Cassa and Yafuri tried to get Jirou, and he chopped straight through him.

It was good to hear what exactly Kotarou exactly was, and hear more of the bloodline.

I just finished the series, and I'm going to give it a thumbs up.

Not that it is a great artistic achievement or anything, but purely for being entertaining. It told a pretty good 12 episode story without being too rushed, and although the ending was open it made sense to stop there.

Title of the series is a bit misleading though, for a series called "Black Blood Brothers" it definitely lacks characters with afros.

The1LittleMchale
Sat, 05-26-2007, 03:17 PM
Mae... you are completely correct about the title.

I just finished the series today, and I actually think this ending was perfect. It leaves an opening for another season, but if another season never comes, this ending was more than enough for the imagination to fill in the rest if necessary.

I probably feel this way just because my favorite animes have open endings that permit the viewer's own imagination to finish it off... maybe I'm just wierd though...

I guess I am a bit behind the times since I just watched this series recently. I read on wikipedia that it was based off of a short novel series, so I jumped over to amazon and bought it! (http://tinyurl.com/2p66of)

After reading the book I must say the anime did the book no justice...I think we can all agree that the anime was quite unjust in ignoring the plight of the Afro-Mexican, and instead playing up this "Vampire" angle

actually, while they took liberties with some of the finer aspects. I personally think it follows the book quite closely. chapter 2 is nearly there word for word.
