Just to let you guys know, Phantom Kingdom was the Japanese title for Makai Kingdom. They changed the name to Makai Kingdom (this is my theory at least) because the previous game that Nippon Ichi released was Phantom Brave and they did not want people to think that the storyline or the game itself was related to Phantom Brave.

lol, take a deep breath Ero-Fan, you're not screwed. What you need to do is show a little creativity. Jewelry, candy, flowers, etc. are all very standard gifts. Any gift that shows you've put some extra thought into it is worth extra points. How much are you looking to spend? Since this is for Valentine's Day maybe incorporate something that the two of you can do together, like tickets to a concert, or a weekend of skiing somewhere, or a trip to a mystery destination. It really depends on what the lady is like and what her interests are. The key is to find something she really likes. Also, homemade cards are a lot cooler than storebought ones. Construction paper works wonders. You can trace out red and pink hearts of different sizes and cut them out and glue them on a card and it makes a really neat effect.

Not really sure how much I'll spend. I usually don't pay attention to that for stuff like this. If I could cut or color straight, I would. Maybe I should pay my sister to make the card? Trips are out, since she has school during the week and work on the weekends. I did disney on ice and other crap for xmas. And she doesn't like concerts, for some reason. Bleh, I hate shopping for her, I always can't figure out anything till the last minute. Why couldn't she just want more jewelry like every other girl I've dated? I'll at least do flowers, but I always do flowers with other stuff. Any ideas of something shippable to her apt? Would anybody happen to know sources for GTO's (Great Teacher Onizuka) opening and ending singles? I spent hours looking for them during the past few days (no exaggeration), but in the end I found nothing but one barely alive batch torrent of Porno Graffiti songs that also contains "Hitori No Yoru" (though I don't know if it's a single or a TV size version).

What comes to the rest of them, I did find an insanely large collection torrent on some japanese site and from what I could understand (it was largely in japanese), it might have contained almost all of them. However, that torrent was totally dead, as the tracker wasn't anymore on the server, and DHT was also as silent as an average grave.

To be specific, the singles I'd mostly be insterested are:

Op2:

Ed1 & Ed2:
"Last Piece" by Kirari
"Shizuku" by Miwaku Okuda

Also, if you don't wanna make a card by hand, you could always do something nifty with photoshop (if you have any graphic skillzzzz, that is - and even then, it won't have to be too impressive for her to appreciate it). Both me and some of my friends have gotten out of buying gifts by spending some time making videos, or even something simple on paint.

Can't help you get it, but looking through the comments I found that apparently that was originally written by some guy called Jerry C. Perhaps that guy might have made it into an audio-only file available for download somewhere.

Does anyone know of a relatively painless way to take screenshots of avi files. I'm currently tying to use Media Player Classic, and I get an error {GetCurrentImage failed, hr = 8000ffff}. If there's another program that's fine but I'd like to be able to use MPC if anyonee knows how to make it work. Thanx

In Media Player Classic you need to go the Options, Playback, Output and change the DirectShow Video rendering mode. This is probably the reason why you can't save screenshots. Well, there could be other reasons, but this is the most likely one. Change it to VMR7 (windowed), for example (that's the one I'm using, you could try others as well, but this works nicely).

Thanks, I got screenshots to work, but now I'm having issues with timing, I pause what i'm watching and try to take a shot, but the thing jumps forward to a different time. Its not the same amount of time each time, but the same relative places if I pause at the same spot multiple times. This has only happened with an ogm file so far, I'm getting fine results from avi's and I haven't tried any mkv's yet. Any advice?

Unfortunately I have sometimes noticed the same thing. Although I didn't notice the shift was different from time to time, nor that it depended on the format. It's likely I haven't been taking screenshots from those formats enough to have noticed it. Hmm... Having said that, I have little advice to offer. The times I experienced it, the effect seemed consistent enough to predict, and I was able to take the screenshots by pausing at a slightly different location so that when it shifted, it was at the right location.

Sorry, but I can't really help any further than that. I have no idea why the shift happens. Maybe it's due to the compression method (xvid) or DirectX. Somebody who knows the theory better might be able to give an explanation if not a solution.

I just tried to re-upload the same avatar i have right now under a different name, so it isnt just you. At this piont, you need to complain to Wilik or Ciber about and see if they can fix it on thier end

There are plenty that are free, but they just arent any good at all. Get some virus protection, and get Nero, and stop trying to find a way around it, because there isn't. Anyway, most torrents with Nero don't have any viruses, you just need to pick out the obvious fakes that have viruses.

Sony Vegas comes to mind, but Nero also has one with it's NeroVision extention.

You cant do it that way. What you need is a player that has media capture installed. Windows Media Player has it, so you won't have to look far. Just play the video, pause the scene that you want, and hit CTRL + I and save it.

I have a problem with my Firefox. Since yesterday, a lot of pages would result in an instant "Server not found" screen, which I'm sure most of you have seen before. The thing is, there really is no problem with those websites because if I click the "Try Again" button, the pages loads fine. This happens a lot to Google and Google searches. I don't think I have a worm infection or something because I scanned with NOD32 (system restore=off) and there were no problems. I scanned with Ad-Aware and no problems. This is a very annoying problem because those websites just give an instant 404 error yet they work fine if I click "Try Again". Anyone have suggestions?

Oh btw, it also applies to my Internet Explorer, not just Firefox. I have never heard of a problem like mine before, or anything remotely close to it.

edit: and it just happened to MSN Messenger, so I guess it's not just for my browsers but instead something is wrong with my connection. That's pretty weird because I didn't even touch my connection settings recently. Maybe I'm due for a simple modem/router reset...?

Ok I might have fixed it. I remember turning off a service called "DNS Client" when I installed Windows x64, and I just re-enabled it. Haven't gotten that problem again so far. It's weird because if turning it off creates problems, then I should have seen symptoms a while ago, not weeks later.

Adware se and norton anti wasnt enough to get everything so i had to reformat my comp. Wow sounds like you're pretty noob. Only download from places where there is a comment section for each torrent. That way if it's jacked up like yours people will post and warn others not to download it. An example of such a site is Torrentspy (http://www.torrentspy.com). If the torrent has no comments, do not download it unless you can actually tell if it's legit or not (which I don't expect you to).

If the file is an mp3, thats why. mp3 doesn't support 5 channels, at least yet anyway. AAC supports 5.1. But it should still play the left and right channels through the rest of the speakers though.

Yeah, that is the case. I'm on a laptop and recently I've been taking out the battery for some reason... Would that be the problem?

That sounds like the BIOS battery that keeps the system data up is dead, and needs to be changed, but, this is only speculation on my part. The accual battery is a tiny battery on the motherboard.

And the server ... it's still pretty heavily loaded. But not like it was ... server load averages with fusetalk were around 10, with spikes up to 200+ (for those who don't know unix load, that's ... pretty goddamned high). Now, load's between 0.75 and 3, with spikes as high as 6 or 7 sometimes. In other words, the worst the server gets is still better than the best it used to do.

It will support up to 3200+. Meaning anything below that will still work, as long is its the same socket type. So, for this board, as long as the processor is an amd and socket type A. Also, make sure the processor you use is FSB 266/333/400 MHz. As long as those to requirements are met, the processor you use should be just fine.

Well, what's the current motherboard you are using the processor in? If you're lucky, it might have the same (or at least similar) processor specs. I forget if its there, but if you right click your my computer icon and hit properties, it might be somewhere there. I would look myself, but that function is locked on my work computer. In the hardware tab, you can select device manager. It might be in there.

Well, the processor will definitly work in the new board. The memory question I am still looking up.

Edit: I am hesitant to say anything about the memory. The reason being the last time I had a MSI board it said it supported ddr 400 (pc 3200), but it wound up that only one ram slot could support the ddr 400 ram chip at 512mb, and the other 2 could only take ddr 333 or less. From what I can see, they all can take ddr 400. But I don't want to say that with any type of certainty. Do you have any ram chips in mind that you want to use?

hmm AFAIK, p4's quad pump their memory bus, thats why a p4 has 800mhz fsb ( 400mhz ddr ram is 200x2, so 4x in total ), and amds dual pump their bus, so your fsb would be 333mhz ( 165.90x2 = 331.8 ), you can always buy 400mhz ram if you want (pc 3200 ), it will fit i think, it will just run at 331.8 mhz instead
and no, you cant have 2 in dual channel and 1 normal, then all 3 sticks go normal, it could be however ( never tested it myself ) , that you can have a pair of 256mb in dual channel and a pair of 512mb in dual channel, i think it would work, also 4 sticks of the same kind will also turn of dual channel, unless your mobo supports quad channel.

oh and for dual channel, i thought the requirment was 2 sticks in the uneven banks, 1 stick in bank 1 and one stick in bank 3, and/or 2 sticks in the even banks, 1 stick in bank 2 and one in bank 4

Type A refers to Socket A, which is what Athlon XP's use. Don't worry about that too much.

For the processor itself, just look it up on Google. If I recall correctly, the 2800+ had two variations: Thoroughbred and Barton. Get a program called CPU-Z and it'll tell you which core you have. Then just Google up that core (T-Bred or Barton) because all the processors using that core will have near-identical specifications.

Yeah. 5 MB is quite large indeed. If you really need to do it, your only option might be to get ordinary server space (and a novel domain), and host it the old way. A 5 megs image does eat quite a bit of bandwidth, though, so especially if you have many of them, don't link to the picture at popular places...

Another question. I am using Utorrent but it seems you need have your port forwarded to have a good dl speed. Im not really good at that, still I tried to look at what I would have to do to forward my port through the Utorrnet site, but were Utorrent recommended me to do this was at portforward.com and they dont have the guidelines for my router.( I can ask them to create one but i would need to dl a prog that recorded info of my computer and internet access,, and i dont want that) Is there any easier way to do this or is their a torrent program that does this on its own?

Although utorrent is a very good program and I would recommend using it to everyone but if you dont want or dont know how to tweak options then abandon it.

It has most of the utorrent features. You can download individual files from a batch torrent. It does not take too much memory, none of that shit. Its very small.

I'm having trouble copying DVDs due to copyprotection. I have DVD decrypter and DVD shrink but neither seem to get back the copy protection. I'm assuming it's because these programs are out of date because the problem is with newer DVDs. Anybody know any new programs out there for decrypting DVDs? I use Nero as my default burning program so I don't know if perhaps their latest update might also be the reason for my copyprotection troubles. Any help would be much appreciated!

Well, the DVDs giving me trouble right now are Serenity and News Radio season 3. I found a little fix though it isn't perfect. I uninstalled InCD which came with the Nero bundle and that helped stop the "not responding" problem I would get when the burn was unsuccessful. But now I can decrypt the DVDs with DVD decrypter and shrink them with DVD Shrink but DVD Shrink still refuses to burn the DVD due to copy protection but I can pop the files that DVD Shrink shrunk into Nero and it burns them no problem. This definately isn't the preffered method since it's a pain in the ass so if you have any suggestions I'm all ears.

well there is a interesting amount of anti-spyware programs there

avast! was a Secure Computing Awards 2006 Finalist, it is aimed at preventing several types of threats, including those that are not technically computer viruses such as spyware, and can also make a Virus Recovery DataBase which is used to recover files.

Spyware Doctor can remove spyware, adware, keyloggers, dialers and Trojan horses with good speed I find as well has a support system to deal with spyware that it doesn't detect, doesn't know about, or doesn't properly remove.

SpyBot is the most recommended free anti-spyware program on the Internet, although it doesn't detect as much as others it is by far the most reliable, easist to use and install. That ability to undo every step is very nice too. I have had cases though that it gives you spyware (That it doesn't detect) as well, they have fixed this in later versions.

Ad-Aware I don't like at all, It is not as good at all like the others you have there and has to take more then one scan to get everthing, and yet still misses alot. although it has proven in later versions to beat even Spybot. I still don't like it though, but thats my bias.

All are good tools to use (Although having more then 2 seems a little over-doing it) personal I'd look up microsofts one and after I've fully tested that new one they have (destroyer is it?) I may have to have a say on that

I need some help getting my Commodore 64 emulator to work. I have several actually, but I've run into problems with all of them. I tried CCS64 2.0b and got some games to load, but once I got to the title screen, I couldn't get it to accept input from my keyboard. I configured the keyboard controls in the input settings, but it still didn't seem to work. I also tried Come Back 64.0.9B but that wouldn't accept any keyboard input even from the load screen. I couldn't even get to attempting to load a game. Next, I tried the PC-64 emulator, but it was ridiculously slow, and gave me strange errors. I also tried Emu64 but it was all in German, and when I loaded up a game it gave me a gibberish looking screen. Any help would be appreciated. I want to play the old school C64 games I remember from my early childhood.

Hmmmm... I'd go with the first Enclosure. Both for price and looks. also, the vents on it are good, that way the HD doesn't overheat (rare I know)

And that is a good Harddrive. OEM is a good way to go to get cheaper hardware of the same quality.

Did you try changing your port range? I don't know what client you're using but you should have the option of changing what port you're using to download under "preferences" in most clients. If someone's got a better suggestion, I'm up for it too. My bit torrent's been pretty slow lately as well.

I got the same problem, I have dsl and my bt downloads used to go 30-50kb/s. Now it goes from 0-20 no matter how many seeds there are, and what's weird is that my upload rate is bigger, it's now 30-40kb/s, it used to be very low. Someone please help.

Aside from siphoning off the sound from a divx file using one of those video-editing softwares, or maybe even using Audacity to record the sound while playing the anime ep, it'd probably help to know how to Google in Japanese. Sorry dude =T

This sounds like a problem with your firewall. Edit the preferences in your firewall and punch a hole in ports 6881 to 6889.

Altavista should help. Here's what you do: Go to babelfish.altavista.com and type in the name of a seiyuu. I typed in "Mai Yanme" (I know she's a singer, but that's another matter). Select English to Japanese of course, and you should get an answer in Japanese. Copy that then click on the word home. Now click on the MP3/Audio tab and paste the Katakana you just copied. Hit enter and you should find a number of links to sound clips.

Edit: If Babelfish translation doesn't work just type the name into Wikipedia and you will be provided with a translation of the name. I used Romi Paku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romi_Paku) as an example. If you follow that link you'll see a table on the right with her name in English and Kanji (also Korean in her case because she was born in Korea). Once you have this information, copy it and put it into the audio search I mentioned previously.

You can use the sound recorder application in Windows to record off the sound. I use Audacity for sound file editing, which is quite simple and is free.

And you should have posted this in the help me thread instead of starting a new topic. :)

With avi files it's also possible to simply open the file in an editor like Goldwave. The editor will obviously only open the audio track of the file (without such visual displays that editors have, although you still might need to crop the file in an editor, anyway). Then you can crop it suitably to contain only the part you wanted. And of course there are programs you can use to rip directly the audio track, but I can't be bothered to remember any names. You can find them with Google, like I did once...

This is a full digital way, as opposed to the DA AD way Psyke suggested.

Recently I have switched my torrent client to utorrent, however, I still have a large batch file downloading on Azureaus, my previous client. I am wondering if there is anyway to continue the download on utorrent, or if I should just wait for it to finish.

It depends. I've had uTorrent do some very weird things on me. Before, when I used ABC, it would take switch like that in a heartbeat. uTorrent has not been so kind to me. Usually, it has wiped the whole file clean and reallocated the space and started from 0%. But earlier today, I needed to patch a ddl that didn't finish, and an old torrent partial as well. I dumped them in the directory, loaded up the torrents, and they worked. My impatience worked out for me this time.

It's worth a shot. Copy what you've got, paste it into the uTorrent downloads directory (Downloads in My Documents by default, I'm sure you can find otherwise it if you changed it.) Load up the torrent file in uTorrent, and see if it tries to resume.

That way, if it works, great. If it fails, it's no different than before.

When I switched from Bitcomet to utorrent, I also changed the file name extensions of the partial files to that of utorrent, as it was different compared to the one Bitcomet uses. utorrent just run a hash check for those files when I loaded the torrents, and then everything continued like a good dream.

My fucking computer is giving me a hard time. :( I show it nothing but love and this is how it repays me. It took me like 2-3 hours to even get it started today. It keeps rebooting right when windows is starting up. And sometimes when windows has been running for a while.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? My guess is that i have some fucked hardware but don't have any idea what it could be.

I'm assuming you are running XP.

For starters, reboot, go into safe mode, and in the command prompt or Run window, run "CHKDSK /R" [without quotes] (or /F but /R is more comprehensive since it implies /F) it will ask you to reboot since it needs exclusive access to the entire hard drive contents. Agree and reboot. It will take a very long time depending on how full your hard drive is (with what I've got, it took 2-3 hours). If it can fix any problems on its own, it will.

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago, and it turned out I had a corrupted .tmp file somewhere.

If that doesn't do it, you either got viruses, or its something else I don't know how to fix.

It could also be as simple as a bad contact between components inside your computer case. Make sure your video card, sound card, and such things are steadily in their slots, and memories, and everything. With bad luck there could be also physical damage somewhere. That happened years ago with my laptop: The CPU socket had a fracture and the computer froze randomnly.

But of course it could be also something totally else, like Ryllharu suggested.

If your computer is randomly restarting it can be due to a number of reasons.

1) The first thing I would do would be to check the CPU temperature in the bios. 55c+ is usually when you should begin to worry with your processor. If it's too high, you can try blowing the dust out, and if that doesn't help you should reseat the heatsink or get better airflow in your case. An overheating processor will cause your computer to randomly restart or freeze once it reaches a certain point.

2) The next thing I would check is the RAM. A few months ago my friend added some new RAM in his computer, but it conflicted with the RAM he already had and was causing data to corrupt, thus freezing and restarting his computer at random. There is a program called Memtest 86 that you can make a bootable floppy with and test your RAM. If it fails any of the tests then your RAM is bad. And yes, it can just stop working properly "just like that."

3) Run virus/spyware check and clear anything it finds out.

4) Check all the hardware in your computer and make sure everything is connected properly.

5) Re-format and reinstall your OS if all else fails. Once you reinstall the OS, if the problem still continues, then the problem is obviously with some piece of hardware.

There are tons of other reasons related to the OS that could cause it to restart, but I usually don't take the time to check for things like that. In the case that something is wrong with your OS, you should probably just reformat, anyway.

Since you are using Win 2K, CHKDSK will still work, but /R does not imply /F so you will need to enter "CHKDSK /F /R"

Try my suggestion first, then Kraco's and finally mage's. Wiping the hard drive and reinstalling windows just to see if it is a hardware problem is a bit extreme, use that only as a last step. I'm willing to bet its either a seating issue that Kraco suggested, or a sector failure on your harddrive like I suggested.

If it's the OS (If it's not one of the things mage pointed out which are common problems I have seen with your problem as well)

If you can if the computer starts into windows you can access your Recovery Console in win2k by Start ->Programs ->System Tools -> Back-up. I would recommend you make a copy of the files located in \system32\Config so if anything happens you can restore your Registry.

If you can't and If you still have your windows 2000 disk I would say boot from that (I'm going to hope you know how to do this as for me to explain this step may depend on your Bios) and press "R" at the Welcome to set-up screen. Then select "R" again when prompted to choose the ERP (emergency repair process) This will give you the last prompt in which you select "F" for fast repair. This repairs the MBR (Master boot record) as well alot of other things about the OS. Remember this DOES NOT repair appilcation, your data, or hardware problems.

Actually, if it's just your bt client you're worried about, several clients have schedulers available.

utorrent has a built-in scheduler which apparently lets you either lower the client bandwidth limit or turn off transfers entirely, which is sort of handy and fairly intuitive looking (it's got about 2 sentences of help text, but that seems like all you'd need)

Azureus has a scheduler plugin too, http://azureus.sourceforge.net/plugin_details.php?plugin=SpeedScheduler ... I don't use az, so I don't know how well it works or how hard it is to get it working, but there ya go.

If you're using some other client ... well ... you should probably use utorrent, 'cause it's better. :)
