If oro took Sasukes body before Sasuke got the mangekyou, wouldn't he have to kill Kabuto then to get it? (or if Kabuto isnt his best friend, then he's completely freindless, isnt he?)

If I were Kabuto, I'd be getting worried about my safety.

Interesting question, but I think the situation would be a bit different.

First of all, Orochimaru has no true "friends," only subordinates. Or, if he did, they haven't been shown, or he's already used them for his experiments.

Secondly, if anything, I guess Sasuke would account as Oro's only "friend" right now, if even that, but when Oro finally does possess Sasuke, that would be, in effect, killing him off (not truly, but close enough). In that regard, I believe the Mangekyou would develop based upon that.

Finally, if all else fails, when Oro possesses Sasuke, he (being the genius that he is) would probably find a roundabout way to unlock the secret (mass infant sacrifice, maybe?).

There's another way to get Mangekyou. I really doubt Kakashi killed his own best friend.

I'm sure there is; if not, then Kishi can poop a new way out. In the case of Kakashi, I subscribe to the school of thought that the Mangekyou was eventually activated due to Obito giving his life for it.

Maybe he still has to kill Naruto. Or maybe Jiraya was his best friend like Naruto was Sasuke's?

Kakashi blames himself for Obitos death, as he thinks his rules obsession was the cause. That may be enough.

Yea, but then you dont have to physically kill your friend, you just have to blame yourself for his death. I dont think Kishimoto will pull something as lame as that. Kakashi is a genius, he definatly found another way.

Never underestimate Kishimotos secret "plot no jutsu".

Every explanation we will get will be lame. It's not about getting Kakashi a cool way, it's about getting the one that sucks least. The conditions for MS have been well established. Unless Kakashi killed Rin during the timeskip, everything will suck.

Sasuke will awaken the MS too, some time. So either there will be two geniuses who discover a different way (after generations!) independently and at the same time, or... well... i dunno.... something else. Sasuke killing Naruto won't happen, Kakashi killing a friend won't happen either.

Lol imagine Sasuke killing off Sakura for the MS:p

No, I dont think this'll be a plot device. There's never a plot device when it comes to Kakashi. He just kicks ass, plain and simple.

Pretty sure Kakashi got it by "killing" his best friend, Obito, that gave it to him, even though he was essentially doomed and had seconds to live before being crushed to death, taking out the eye is probably what actually killed him.

I dont think the rules were that well established.. i mean. 1 person had it in the wholes clan history up until just a few years before the Anime/Manga started. It would be like saying the only way to fly is by the Wright Brothers airplane design..

No, don't kill Sakura. PTS-Sakura is actually quite likeable I think (PTS is post-time-skip and not to be confused with PMS).

And if half your body is crushed by a boulder, your eye won't be your problem. But he may have had better chances if Rin treated him instead of the eye surgery. But it wouldn't have changed much - a few minutes at best.

[Edit] I remember the wording to be "only a few had it in clan history".

Oh sweet imagination. Oh sweet sweet sweet imagination.

Elessar, Sakura, likable? SHE KILLED SASORI!!!! Goddamnit everything she does is bad. At first she didn't do anything and sucked because of that, and now she sucks because she does the wrong thing. The only thing that makes her likable is the vast amount of hentai she stars in.

Ehm yeah, so, mangekyou sharingan, good stuff.

But, hey! Wherever did Rin go? And, if it wasn't Obito's sacrifice that eventually triggered the Mangekyou, I wonder what...?

if obito's sacrifice triggered it, wouldnt kakashi have ms a long time ago?

I guess Kishimoto could pull a lame "He had it all along, but didn't use it because it drains your energy" explaination.

Elessar, these are the two funniest posts I've read in a week. You're on a roll.

We have already been forced to suspend disbelief far enough to believe that an eye may be transplanted in the field without any access to specialist facilities. It seems an unnecessary further stretch to believe that removing someone's eye would kill them.

In addition to that, the whole point about the Mangekyou Sharingan, as far as I can tell, is that to gain it is to be tainted in some way. Killing your friend in a relatively benign manner such as that does not seem to me sufficiently evil to gain the power of Mangekyou Sharingan. I can't help but believe that the most important thing is that the Sharingan user must intend to kill his friend.

I'm not opposed to the notion that Kakashi could have found some way to work around this requirement, but if he did so, I'd suggest that he was working in an entirely different direction, and that killing was not involved.

Isn't she supposed to be 12...15 years old? I know it's just animation but I still find it disturbing that that exists. (Off-topic but I don't think this warranted its own thread...)

Maybe Kakashi killed Gai-Sensei, brought him back from the dead (like the old lady did in the manga), and in turn had Mangekyou Sharingan.

Hey, it's entirely possible. @_@;

I personally look at hentai because I can't fuck 12 year old girls for real.

Though it would be fun one day. I wanna make one bleed.

Gai is Kakashi's best friend? I think not. :p

In all seriousness, what do you really think the true nature of their relationship is? It's been explicitly stated since the Chuunin exam that Gai regards Kakashi as his Eternal Rival, and it's been quite apparent since then to me that Kakashi doesn't care in the slightest. Which I happen to think is hysterically funny.

If kakashi didn't care about Gai, why all the rock-paper-scissors matches? If you can't count on an elementary school game fro eternal rivalry, what can you count on?

Back on topic, I honestly doubt that Kishimoto is ever going to explain how Kakashi has a mangekyou sharingan.

Kakashi is truly a genius, probably would've surpassed the 4th if given the chance to. Even without the Sharingan, he was already a perfected chuunin at the age of what... 6? Kakashi definitely has found another way to achieve Mangekyo. Itachi probably told Sasuke to do that method since it's the fastest way probably. Jiraiya DID say Itachi is rushing Sasuke. Itachi is trying to make Sasuke rush through everything. Plus, there was no way Itachi knew that Obito had died in such a way and knows every detail of the Kakashi Gaiden, therefore he couldn't have known that Kakashi was capable of getting the Mangekyo with killing his best friend. Besides... back then Kakashi had no friends because he was "emotionless". There is another way and Itachi is just hiding that fact.
---
Kishi will most likely explain how Kakashi got Mangekyo... Itachi says before that there are 3 people, including Sasuke and Itachi, who is capable. Well we see 2 people with Mangekyo now and only Sasuke left... the only bearer of Sharingan left. Also, he has yet to explain the true reason what Sharingan is meant for. He left many things unanswered for a reason. So we can talk about it in forums like this for years. It's all part of foreshadowing... basic technique in all plot lines. Kishi is trying to build up the story to its peak.
