This seems like a cool show, maybe a Cowboy Bebop/Solty Rei mixture or something.

First episode released by gg:
http://ggkthx.org/torrents/CRS01.torrent

"The war has continued on the planet, Grazeland. Because the Earth Federation Governent is afraid the war might leap to other planets, they decided to destroy the Graceland by photon bombs. There are only 7 days left until the time limit. However, there is an inheritance of the Pirate King, Blues, somewhere in this planet."

I just saw this show listed and it caught my interest as well. With a name like Coyote Ragtime Show I just had to see it, lets hope it is good.

I have to agree, the first episode was very nice. Plenty of action, enough of the story to generate interest but not overwhelming, and the charaters were well done also. I can't wait for episode 2.

Everything Apraxhren said. This series seems like it will be quite interesting. I have a feeling we might get to see the story from several different points of view equally instead of just following the main charachter around, which would be very entertaining, but it could be that I'm just prjecting the open endedness of the first episode too far. Can't wait to see more.

Cool - another great anime series starting, looks like a few things are begining to take over from the many other cool series which ended in the last while.

Just watched the first two episodes, I think Bud's prediction of similarities to Bebop is fair accurate (although not seeming much like Solty Rei yet, anyway).

Basic overview of this would be, corrupt politicians, corrupt police, guild of criminals, and then a few renegade good cops, and 'Coyotes' (suppose closest could compare them to be would be Black Lagoon-style good guys...).

Hard to say this early on how it will develop, but looks like a fun/entertaining series - lots of guns 'n drink.

first episode was pretty interesting. Getting a little tired of seeing super moe cute girls placed in the role of heartless killing machines though... The investigator and the policewoman seem to be tolerable characters, although I'm more interested in the criminals.

I still need to watch the second episode but I really don't know what people are comparing this show to Bebop for. No bounty hunters, main character is a friggin federal agent and I've yet to see anything involving martial arts or dog-fight space combat yet. Not to mention the difference in the sound track.

Again though, judging all this from the first episode is a little much. I like the "space outlaw" genres quite a bit though, and will casually pick this show up.

Episode 2 was a fairly nice episode, at first Super Soul seemed fairly stupid and cliché and he still may be but I am starting to enjoy his character. The ED was great in terms of the animation or lack of; it may be my favorite part so far.

@Masamuneehs: I think the comparisons to Cowboy Bebop are more about the feel of the anime. They both exist in a virtually lawless world with corrupt governments/police. That is about all they share but they feel similar in the way they approach the story. I have heard people compare the plot to a Lupin the third like, it is almost as if they took Lupin the third and put it in the Cowboy Bebop world. Either way this looks to be a really entertaining anime.

Damn - was going to mention the ED, and completely forgot to - this was indeed excellently done, reminded me of so many childhood programmes (albeit the theme slightly differed in this).
The whole style to the animation, and semi-cheap look to it, very much like a lot of mid 80s stuff I used to watch.
Also had a 'cheers' feel to it I suppose.

This show looks like it'll be entertaining. It reminds me more of Outlaw Star than Bebop, as there is a sepcific goal involved, but It'll all come down to the story and how well it's told for me.

Also, did anyone else notice some occasional choppiness in the video? I'm not sure if it was my over taxed comp, something wrong with my dl, or something wrong with the release in general.

i actually thought the same thing as yukimura. it's got the whole space cowboy sorta feel to it like bebop, but the whole treasure hunting thing is definately a bit like outlaw star. that was a pretty badass grab when the ship swiped mister and the girl in. i was half expecting some typical they land into the ship through the roof sorta thing.

Finally got around to watching Lunar sub of Episode 1.

It made things a little clearer in regard to the bombing of Graceland, and think typeset was a little cleaner, usual Lunar standards I think.

This release is a little better than gg, I'll probably keep Lunar for collection, but watch gg, as the difference isn't huge (well, not that I can tell anyway).

Hmmm. My position stands. If Lunar does release their ep 2 before gg releases ep 3 I may see them.
I personally dislike waiting two or three weeks between episodes just because the group wants better quality (and at the end its the same thing)

Dunno what you guys watched when seeing ep 1 of gg, but it was very clear to me that the Guild was a criminal organization that kept tabs on the goverment, and that the 12 sisters were the elite guard of one of the guild members.

Another action-packed episode -- although I reckon most shall be.
A little more history of Franca/Mister, and learn a little more of Franca's father.

Scene towards the end in the church was nicely done, reckon new guy shall be quite interesting (although early on had reservations, thought may be a preacher-type character, which wouldn't be keen on).

Looking forward till next episode, thankfully Lunar have caught up nicely too, as their subs have some lines which were missing from gg (nothing major, still, nice to have).

got to episode 3 and 4. Swamp is the token priest gunslinger AND token black guy... but man his singing voice really doesn't fit the character at all.

I've grown to like Mister some. At first his vague way of talking about things (or is that gg fansubs?) got me a little annoyed, but some of his lines are pretty good. I love the Central Bank being referred to as a 'mountain', not just a tresure but also a serious obstacle to be conquered.

the action in this show is nice, but man is it some foowee sometimes! Two guys with pistols versus armored machine gun wielding troops backed up with helicopters... I prefer Black Lagoon or Bebop's gunfights alot more, but Ragtime does offer some nice animation.

I fucking suck at puzzles like that Central Bank one :( D'bony is the Genma-looking plot device whizkid, but man tell me you can't like someone named D-to-the-Bony!

this show is automatically cool because they referenced the best song ever, Hotel California. gg's comment on it made me lol.

no need to go through the handprint identification code, just go through the grate in the wall... "epitome of financial security"? How would that fat bastard president ever even make it through the ball? He doesn't even have cameras in his office.

I do like this show, but early comparison to Bebop and the number of other good shows out there now really leave this one lagging. It has potential, but it seems to fall into little pitfalls in places it should really shine... In all honesty I probably won't be watching this show very avidly.

Are the 12 sisters robots or what? In ep.3 they're worried about getting their clothes dirty and now they're eating peaches. It's still a great show, just a lil' confusing.

I'm pretty sure they're all androids as the captured one is for sure and they all seem to have abnormal strength among other things. This is probably one of the best shows to come out this year, right up there with Utawarerumeno and BlackLagoon for me.

I began to like this show quite a lot during the first episodes, culminating in the bank robbery (despite the grate Masa mentioned), but the space station battle of the last episodes made me grit my teeth. I will keep watching this show, but I hope to never see anything like this again.

There weren't basically anything wrong if you just looked at the coyotes and the guild. The fighting was quite good and action smooth, but what on earth were the space station crew doing? If there indeed are plenty of criminals left and right in that universe, then there should be appropriate security present at a major space station like that. A few military battleships and cruisers.

Now, it's evident every other official is corrupt in that world, but still: Somebody shoots holes in the space station's walls, blows up random civilian ships, levels buildings inside... I don't think any sum of bribe is enough for that. Even if the officials were stupid enough to do nothing, their heads would roll afterwards, as no cover-up could ever keep secret what happened, and why the officials did absolutely nothing.

The guild seems to have impressive ships and weaponry, but if you look around, no matter how nice gear the criminals have, it's nothing compared to what's available to the goverments (military). So, the space station should have been equipped with weaponry easily surpassing that of the guild ship.

If they want to have a totally static environment, why not use an asteroid field, a dead space station, or something... Damn. Well, Franca's trick with the ejection seat fortunately totally saved the very ending of the episode.

Just watched episodes 4-6.

Laughed my ass off at the COBOL reference in Episode 4 (4m, 28-34s) - fair play to creators for putting the effort in...

Liked these three episodes - as kraco says realism is being traded for effect/poetic license, but I don't think that it takes much away from the series.
I was hoping for a little bit more of an 'epic' to the last couple of scenes -- things seemingly fit together for luck or whatever in this.

In Episode 5 can see why Swamp is 'testing' Mister -- Swamp used to being under someone who planned everything maticulously (as can see from the video clip).
Mister on the other hand seems to have rough plans, and then just improvise the rest.
I can see why Swamp would have issues with this style when he worked so long with other chap (Blue... whatever).

It is more than every other offical that is corrupt. In the first episode near the end Angelica says "The guild has long held control over the police and politicians". The guild basicly is the government so there is no need to cover any thing up as there is no one that has power over them.

This is it. I just can't stand these space fights anymore. I had blissfully forgotten the ones in the previous eps, but this episode 7 one was so miserable I'm seriously considering dropping this whole series. It's like this show was written by two groups: one good scripting all other things, and one bunch of monkeys writing the space battles. If this wasn't the last of these abominations, the next one will witness me deleting this thing from my HD. Would be a damn shame as the rest of the story seems so good.

Goddam episode 9 contained again so incredibly lousy space battles. However, after seeing how the military ship had also rebels running freely on board, I came to the conclusion incompetence must be an entry criterion for all officials in that universe, and after that realization I can, kind of, accept how poor some aspect of this series are.

Well, the episode wasn't otherwise bad, although not that good either compared to some of the past ones. Hopefully the next episodes will leave the space for good and land solely on the planet surface.
